Every one of their older songs just has that air of nostalgia to it that's absolutely unmatched by any other band.
This was the first song I ever heard from BMTH. I discovered them during one of the darkest times of my life. It literally changed everything; I started listening to BMTH and it just led down this rabbit hole of discovering so many other good bands / songs. I can relate to a lot of the songs on Sempiternal and That's the Spirit. This, Sleepwalking and Avalanche are still some of my all time favorites. Those songs will always have such a special place in my heart ❤

I still remember the feeling when this first came out. Hearing Oli sing was ground breaking. I spent all night learning this on guitar, and jammed it for years. Truly a goated song
For those that are interested and don't know; Shadow Moses is an Alaska's Fox Archipelago island from Metal Gear Solid video game, and one of the best if not the best franchises with amazing story. The also amazing song at the beginning and the end is a soundtrack song from the game named "The best is yet to come" written and produced by Rika Muranaka and sung by Aoife Ní Fhearraigh. Second game (released 2001) is mind blowingly accurate with its real world future predictions and tries to show/teach it's players/watchers a lot, especially with its ending conversations. (The games are best experienced in the order of release.) It's on the level so profound it should be taught in schools.

I still think that "Sempiternal" was their best record... it was a nearly perfect blend of anger, melody and a very thick, deep atmosphere made by Fish's synths. Not to mention the melodic screaming, which wasn't very common during the time the album was released, at least from what I know...

The first time I heard this song in 2014. I was walking through the streets of the night city, I felt very bad and I wanted to disappear. That year my sister died, my loved one left me and I had the feeling that I was going nowhere. For me, this song became a cry of my soul that I couldn't express.
I am just now noticing in the chorus 2:47 to 3:18 there is a quiet layer of vocals on the left side. The more I revisit this song the more I love it.
Fun Fact: "Shadow Moses" is an island that had dealt with nukes in the game Metal Gear Solid. The opening choir singing is a reference to the theme of the Shadow Moses island which sounds very similar.

It s interesting how this song aged greatly, in comparison to bands like escape the fate and other bands that would also scream in their songs. Great job, Guys this is a classic now. :)

The ultimate coming of age song for BMTH entires catalog: a perfect sum of the bands sound over the course of a beautiful career up to that point - the breakdowns of "suicide season" and the dark, occultist-like ambience and roaring chords from "there's a hell". new melodic, electronic component when Oliver started singing with jordan fisher. A seasoned screaming voice of a decade of deathcore and metalcore fads resulting into his own thing, and again setting the standard of what the genre should be.
