Hello Scott! This video was put together very nicely and I followed every step to the T. The issue I am having is, once I have selected the LUA, added the source file and the source in the scene, the texts remain static. I saw that I was running a previous version of OBS so I then updated to the current version 27.2.4, garnering the same results. I am running windows 10 64 bit. Any thoughts?

So First, I made the text file on my desktop, then created and named the text source in obs as you explained. After selecting my font, size and color, I then told the source to read the text file that was on my desktop. Next I went to the script option selected the teletype lua and pointed it to where the source was by typing the name of the source in the drop down box. Then when it asked what file to read from, I told it to read the text file that was on my desktop. Now when I did that, it would not work. It wasnt until I unchecked read from file in the Text Source that it worked. Lucky the text was small enough that I was able to see it and adjust to the right size to fit the box. If the text was blown up, then you may think its not there when it is.

Alright, I'm liking what I'm seeing, here, it's useful, but only for one card, as far as I can tell. I'm trying to announce the Act and the Scene's for the game I run, but I've set my cards up for various fonts, text colors, and outlines, as well as forcing transitions for each Scene/Card I change to. Does anyone have any ideas for what to do with those multiple cards? I have an idea I'm going to try, but it's iffy, at best... I wonder if numbering the lua script file names will allow me to choose different numbers for different scenes, but still work the same?

@@ScottFichter I'm meaning a Scene... but, they're not all Scenes, are they? So, if you want to use those terms interchangeably, that makes sense to me. This teletype LUA is not sufficient for what I'm trying to accomplish, anyway, so I'm not going to worry about it. 1) I want the teletype to work with text in the center of the screen, but it doesn't use the boundaries properly. 2) When my second line of text 'types' up, I cannot find a way to stop it from re-loading the text and re-typing it, again. I need it to load both lines and have them remain on the screen, actually, for several long seconds or until I change to a new 'Scene'. 3) When I switch to another 'Scene' and then return to the teletype 'Scene', I need the teletype to start from the beginning of the lettering in my text file. 4) And this is not a teletype LUA thing, but I need a typing sound to play at the same time the 'Scene' begins. 5) I have multiple 'Scenes' I'm trying to do, for my Role-Playing Game, in different fonts and colors... Act One: Dead Man's History; Scene One: The Police and the Cyberknight; and so on through three more 'Scenes'. I've figured out I can copy and past the teletype LUA and renumber them, using a different numbered script for each 'Scene', but the remaining problems I'm having setting things up the way I want them are beyond my purview, I'm afraid.

Hello Scott! Under Ubuntu 21.10 and OBS 27.2.4, when adding a new Source the only Text option for me is Text (Free Type 2) and not your example (GDI +). As you can imagine the dialog box for the properties is different. Any suggestions on a workaround, please? Thanks.
