Guy was so diplomatic with the intro. So much funnier.

I'm absolutely going to have to pick some of these up. I went to a catholic school as a kid, and one of the nuns, Sister Estelle, actually played (and to my knowledge still does) tabletop RPGs with students in some after school activities something like this would be a great present.

Was not expecting literal nuns with guns. And I was doing so well not getting another obscure minute range 😂

My idea is to run them as an imperial guard ally to sisters of battle, making it feel like they had to bring their trainees out to fight because the battle is so big

Three of my Great Aunts were nuns and any one of them could’ve been the inspiration for those models. Right down to the hose and the boring hospital shoes. They would’ve been delighted. I loved it.

For me nuns are not sexy, creepy or terrifying. For me they symbolise innocence, duty, care, selflessness and motherly love. This doesn't exclude fighting the evil of chaos btw.

Guy: I am not buying any new miniatures until the pile of shame is gone. Community: Have you seen this cool guns with nuns? Guy: New rule, guys... 😄

Well I don't know about everyone else, but I come to Midwinter Minis pretty much for all the historical facts about ecclesiastical figures. (and hey, Ms. 45 in the thumbnail!)

I guess the Nuns could be used with Rogue Stars, Stargrave, Core Space, Cyberpunk themed games, Starfinder, Shadowrun, Punkapocalyptic (at least the theme of the game), Last Days - Zombie Apocalypse (at least some of them), Pulp Alley, This is Not a Test, and so on.

I know exactly where you can use these minis (maybe) There's a miniatures game by Crooked Dice called "7TV" -- You take the role of a 70's TV studio making sci-fi/horror/war telly, the minis being the actors/extras needed for the story/action. The minis are great, a lot of sly nods and unsubtle references (I love the folk horror splash with League of Gentlemen and Wicker Man characters), but I never see anyone talking about the game despite the unique concept. Might be worth a look? Post Apocalyptic Nunsploitation double-feature, anyone?!

You made me check out the game, downloaded the free pdf ruleset for 2nd ed on their site and their solo play ruleset, I'm about to try the game and have my brave spacemen shoot some killer robots in a campy ass scenario.

My honest answer: Nuns have always represented purity of mind and kindness and selflessness... And thus twisted horndogs love seeing something they will never reach being corrupted and brought down to their level. Either making them evil, perverted, horror or everything at the same time. do i get a heart now? 😜

I was smiling this whole video, this was absolutely hilarious. You also did an amazing job with their paint jobs! I also can’t get over the gory demon head idea, it was genius!

Not going to lie, I might buy the entire line now. I'm an absolute sucker for this type of contrast and the idea of Nuns with Guns would fit perfectly in my Swords, Sorcery, and Shotguns world I'm currently DMing in. They look absolutely amazing too! That demon head was a pretty genius solution.

Great tip on the black drybrushing. Love that this video wasn't just some Sisters of Battle. Lol! Having been raised in a Catholic household, I realise how a bunch of armed nuns are far more terrifying than some bunch of sexpots in power armor. Just think of 'The Penguin' from the Blues Brothers and you'll know what I mean. ;)

The other minis like Gnarl Marx and Count Binface are great aswell.

This video is like a nice cookie. No full meal, but a tasty short snack after a hard work shift.

These minis capture what I feel GW has lost in recent decades - a cartoonlike impishness. The (albeit, dark) comedic undertone (and let's be honest, often overtone) of the early Citadel models - Rogue Trader and a few editions in, are what sucked me into all this malarkey. Maybe I'm just an old git, wallowing in nostalgia, but I can't help feeling (despite still loving painting) that the contemporary minis just lack a little soul. Thanks for a great vid Guy.

I get ya completely, some models have character and a hell of a lot of it, like the crab or beastgrave monkey. Where's the battle sister with an over the top combi bolter. The chaos marine with the abomination of a gun and a powerfist claws crushing a helm. The skulking Tyranids. Heck theirs that old vindicar assassin with his rifle by his side pistol raised. It's got this over the top charm.

Blanche and much of the early art (one in particular was burned on my young retinas, the frankly gothic nightmare Ian Miller picture in the RT rulebook of a Space Marine strangling an ork, his face distorted into a Munch-esque "Scream") provided more than enough 'grim' and 'dark', but the constrasting humour that permeated the entire universe was a much broader and satisfying imaginary palette.

This video is actually a really solid summary of some simple yet effective techniques that can be applied to almost anything. Great job!

I remember playing a game years ago where one guy played with some nuns with guns- it was hilarious. He even had a special squad of choir boys with horse guns.

3:40 I would advise against cutting any plant material with modeling nippers like that. Stuff like wood and leaves (even paper!) can dull a cutting edge much, much faster than plastic frames do. And sharpening nippers means readjusting them so they'll close flush again.

Well done. I've found GW's eshin grey a good color for dry brushing over black, if anyone is looking for a pre-mixed dark grey. Also the cheap acrylic paints have a good range of greys.

Instantly I'm reminded of the old tabletop paper and pen RPG Macho Women With Guns. It literally had Renegade Nuns On Wheels as one of the possible character classes. Also, the blue lighting effect on the mother superior's leg looks sweet.

This type of content is exactly why I subscribe to Midwinter.

I know that Warhammer videos pay the bills, but I loved this video and I want more like it. Imagine how chuffed the guy/girl who makes and sells these models is going to be when the inevitable influx of sales rolls in just before Christmas. There are plenty of other small companies who could use a boost like this. Maybe an idea for a future video series? Old School Miniatures Northumbrian Tin Soldier Monkstone Miniatures Eureka Miniatures Just to name a few!

These figures remind me of an old Independent game produced in the mid-to-late 80s (so independent it was about 20 magazine-sized pages long, with black-and-white artwork, including the cover) called 'Renegade Nuns on Wheels' with a sequel game called 'Batwing Bimbos from Hell'. The first place I saw armed nun miniatures used was in the "Renegade Nuns on Wheels" expansion for the "Macho Women with Guns" RPG. (From BTRC, designer Greg Porter, published in the late '80s.) It's pretty much what you might expect from a game that has another expansion titled "More Excuses to Kill Things".

That's a great tip for the wooden floor boards. I added wood boards for my re2 board game minis and hope they dont warp over time.

I'm thinking a colour scheme based not on traditional Nun but on Jodie Whittakers Doctor Who costume...the question is...how much is it all going to cost to start from scratch. There's always indie wargaming as a means of saving money for the hobby. One Page Rules has some free rulesets that are fairly easy to pick up. The games are mini agnostic, and as long as the minis look similar to whatever army you're playing as, everything's copacetic. OPR has a Patreon, with two tiers. The first gives access to the advanced rulesets, 2d miniatures, and a point calculator for army customisation. The second has 3d printing models (a small selection from 2 factions and terrain, plus bases, measuring tools, faction-themed objective markers and even dice.) This month, Tier 2 has a 70% discount for older models on the site my mini factory, which can get you an army or two for a considerable discount.

Congratulations, Guy. You now have a unique Kill Team. Or a Stargrave crew. Nuns in space. Here's hoping Troublemaker Games appreciates you giving them this free advertising. It's always good to help an small operation flourish, in this age of near-monopoly. I look forward to other indie spotlights in the future.

I did a conversion of nuns from reaper minis for use in a Mordheim campaign. They were a lot of fun
