There is another map on bar that is a better clone of Seton's Clutch if that is the map you are referring to , the long iconic land bridge and more to its scale. The map in the video is clearly inspired from that map lay out though, but the iconic land bridge is shorter / a sand bar and the scaling is over all smaller/ more cramped looking.

IIRC, somebody ported that map to Spring Engine pretty fast after that trailer and it became popular very fast. The trailer really was a very good trailer.

Guess it's their version of 'Blood Gulch'...every game has got to have one.

This match was such a back and forth of tactical oversights xD North built no fighters and no anti nuke, but we beat an uncontested navy player with hover tanks, then slugging it out in the middle for almost an hour, was an insane game! Was happy to play with everyone in it by the end.

Shift+Alt+Z and X are your friend for spacing out those base buildings. I learned that from your tips and tricks video.

Best RTS match I have seen in ages, you did great Winter I can't imagine the sheer chaos of trying to perform while getting a nuclear launch notification every three seconds. Gifting econ to other players, inheriting DCed player bases, its extremely difficult to find a moment to formulate an updated strategy while all that is happening. Shiba telling orange he is going to the north sea is a top 10 video game moment for me now lol

I've been waiting for some proper terraforming ever since that game where the Ragnarok cannon spent like 30+ minutes slowly teasingly eroding a mountain ridge that nukes just barely singed. You could tell it would probably eventually get through, but it never got the chance to finish.

I feel like Winter just discovered seaplanes lol. Seaplane Torpedo gunships are devastating against all kinds of naval units in the game. Instead of doing a single pass they loiter and spit out torpedoes while doing side to side evasive maneuvers. They can also land in water and have sonar making them great area defense units.

Its fun to watch you skill up on something new. Your ethic is impressive

7:30: OMFG LMAO xD 47:14: Daaamn. First a Calamity and now this massive ground invasion, countered by the lowly Commander, no less! Love it. 50:00: HOLY BOMBERS, BATMAN! =O 50:40: You're the best teammate ever this match

TBF this game, you could have built anti-nuke for your front liners who were being dumb. You also didn't have your own anti-nuke up before the second missile launch, so it could have been you too. Also, a trick a few casters of the 4v4 tourny have been saying is to recycle your windmills once you hit fusion reactors. At that point, real-estate near your construction turrets is worth more than the 20 odd energy, and you get all your metal back. Most top tier players have started doing this, since you can make a single line of 2-by-whatever length construction turrets, and build fusions on one side, and metal converters on the other. Keeps base layouts simple, and if you're being bombed enough to blow up a fusion, you're losing about the same amount of stuff.

Was a good game to watch as an obs, MBT really carried the lion's share here. You guys were on the upper hand pretty well but they relentlessly eco'd and bounced back. Orange had no anti naval, just bombardment and anti air, so a dozen assault submarines ruined him. It's not more fighters that saves you from late game bombers, it's FLAK! T2 mobile flak and flak emplacements outperform the fancy long range aa missiles, the reload speed and lack of splash is just not enough to deal with 150+ unit air raids.

Flak is amazing, in comparison the long range missiles are pretty good if they use small amount of air units but if they spam they don't do much and I feel like even against a cloud of fliers they tend to overkill the same air units, reducing their potential dps even more (unless one stacks all the 100+ units in a single spot and they all get one shot it but I would not rely on that).

​@@Etruscots Yeah the screamers and other super SAMS are great for area denial, team base coverage, vs early hornets, and vs dragons. But for actually killing air defensively, I'm a flak worshiper. Flak is probably over-tuned right now with how squishy air really is, but people are sleeping on it. Even 1-2 mobile flak can wreck small-medium swarms, and 5-8 can start to kill absurd amounts of stuff... If you have 20++ to have some proper coverage or flak emplacements slightly spaced out in 2x2's, they make short work of t1 fighter screens and chew through everything but dragons... And even dragons once you hit critical mass. It nearly makes air unviable. Fighters and ASF require space and time to be effective, they're valuable for mobility and efficiency, not raw stopping power. Honestly I love air so I should stop telling people about flak cause it really ruins an air player.

Damn Winter. Sometimes, I have to remind myself you're only "diamond" level. When the heavily armed and armored robot dogs come to kill us all, I hope they're dancing to the music of steel drums.

I’m still a SupCom fan, but after watching this I can really see why the game is called “Beyond All Reason.” It sure lives up to its title.

considering the dmg u did at the start, combined by the fact blue got nuked..... the fact they managed to rebuild and win is surreal... and I dont blame u for that loss...... :p u did amazing

I mean nukes are not often the auto win people think they are. I was playing a game with winter he got nuked and resigned. Fairly certain they pooled resources to get a quicker nuke. We won after 30 minutes. Typically, time is better spent doing a run by as opposed to a nuke. The real strength is nuking their frontline so your team can run through and destroy eco. Also once you get to the time you get nuked typically you have so much built-up recovery is easier than you think. I mean I have had my base wiped out 3 times and still have titans walking across map to end it.

@@u13erfitz Same as the lolcannon. I think in both games on this channel that Shiba is in they went for the cannon. In the other one they didn't even get the cannon up before the game was over.

Winter assumed they couldnt fight back and stopped building counters. That assumes the whole game was on him. Which it wasnt. A few more plasma shields would have prevented the collapse that happened.

I was watching this live and started watching casually at around midnight, planning on only wathcing a few minutes. I was still up at nearly 2am on a work night. Well played!

Hotkey tips: CTRL+click to get 20 units on queue at once, SHIFT+click can be used to reclaim a lot at once as well as build. Other: when the enemy shows you what they are, believe them and build lots of fighters. Your explanation that you didn't want to compete with 2 players and would cede air control doesn't make sense. you have to compete. Obviously. It did seem like your team was completely depending on you, for the most part, so be more awesome! Unlike me who sucks at this game but still gives advice. One piece of advice I'd love to give but I haven't figured it out yet is how far apart clusters of fusion have to be to avoid a chain reaction. I think you have to cluster them because the blast radius is so big anyway but make a lot of spread out clusters. I know everyone knows this but nobody succeeds for some reason. If you are going to fail at least make one big cluster on the edge of the map so you have something left, and you know where they will attack. Maybe even surround it and windmills or something to deflect some bombs.

Using nukes to build a new channel was actually a real plan in the real world. But somebody raised concerns and it was never implemented.

Funny game, looked like you got mad complacent when the lolcannon went up.

1:15:00 orange really fumbled by trying to come back. He should've just full committed to taking out the calamity and pushing the north sea. Coming back does nothing but buy time for the enemy. Unfortunate. Then he pushes through the canal AGAIN, reverting all his progress he made in the first place to then losing significant units to a bunch of shit at the canal. This is a perfect example of making sure you are always making DECISIVE decisions and try not to doubt your team. Fumbling around and deciding to go, then turn around, then go again is just a death trap. Especially with navy.

What a game!

Good map layout! Looks like a smaller version of Seton's Clutch from SupCom which has seen some epic games..

-In the heat of battle, things are crazy, but... -...Even as an amateur who has never played it was so obvious North would go full air against the far left. - Can't understand the lack of AA. Seems to me, that this was all that was needed. Don't even need to attack, just sea defence, then mass AA and fighters. Am I missing something massive?

Don't think I have ever seen a game where they took that much early game damage from bomber runs, a nuke and then constant barrage from a calamity and still somehow survived lol.

I feel like orange stagnated pretty hard. He just held that coast and never pushed. He could have done sea bombers and a lot of other stuff. Also nobody on winters team ever took any of the islands which are key spots.

You decided a hour into the replay that you wanted to play an island map instead and just made it happen.. Thats pretty based.

Balls of t1 AA bots on patrol hardcounter mass air-spam like that. Add t2 to the mix, and those bombers are a meme.

i wanna see sc2 vets playing a gigantic 8v8 . all the big names duking it out in BAR would be fantastic

It's either Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift, can't remember.

Your bottom and top players should focus water gameplay, your point player should focus land and then switch into either pond and you rear players should focus Air and eco

You should try to nuke the lower plain on the map Forge. It's really effevtive :P

I don't think I've ever seen a BAR player waste so much time buffing their APM by clicking in a circle for cons as soon as they are built.

East water pink took forever to take his lake, then sat on the shore for 30 min not doing anything. He couldve killed teal with longbows, help hold mid with longbows, and rushed east with hovercraft. nope just sit there

No mod, you can make a Lava pit on some maps as well.

That's just the base game, nukes and other explosions tear at the terrain, with enough you can hit the water/ lava line. With enough nuking you can naval invade on a land map

Problem with north sea there is no one patrolling it...

I wish I was any good at this game. I tried so hard, got maybe 200 hrs in this game, have read and watched ALL tutorials... Still lose against AI on a bad day. Can't get above 18 cmds/s. 😢

Incompetent players is why I stopped playing multiplayer team-based-RTS years ago. Just too frustrating. It's a reminder that standard deviation for skill level is extremely high.
