Every time there was a Trix commercial on, I always felt so sorry for the Rabbit. If I was the Rabbit, I would've probably snapped and just went Rambo on the kids. That's why I like the parody they do in Family Guy with the Asian Trix Rabbit. "YOU SHARE!"

13CrystalHeart I was gonna say that the current mascots were an attempt to cash in on the success of the Minions from "Despicable Me", but apparently the commercials started in 2009 and "Despicable Me" came out in 2010.So unless the guys at General Mills have a time machine, I can only guess that Wendell was banished to the Realm of Useless Advertising Mascots, where such other cereal mascots as Jargus the wizard, the Cookie Crook and Cop, Chip the Dog, Fruity Yummy Mummy, Tony Jr., and the other two Cinnamon Toast Crunch bakers reside.

I keep wanting a Trix commercial where some kid is finally nice enough to give the rabbit a bowl. The poor guy. Or a parody where he finally gets ahold of some with no mistakes, NO last minute hitches, but spits the cereal out after the first bite and says something like "I DEVOTED MY WHOLE LIFE TO TRYING A BOWL OF THIS SHIT AND THIS IS WHAT IT TASTES LIKE??"

He's gotten the Trix three times. Once in 1976, once in 1980, and once in 1991.

I wish he made this video some time after Cinnamon Toast Crunch got new mascots. Imagine what his reaction would be. "Guess what the mascot of this cereal is now? It's the cereal. I'm not joking. They really took pieces of the cereal, gave them eyes, mouths, arms, and legs, called them their mascots, and had them eat each other-WAIT, WHAT THE HELL!? They eat each other?...So their mascots are cannibals? Okay, this got disturbing. Let's just move on!"

Mankage 28 The idea is that Cinnamon Toast Crunch is so good, even the cereal itself can't resist eating it, and it's portrayed in more of a silly slapstick way than actual cannibalism, but that doesn't change the fact that there's implications behind it.

Anyone else notice how all these commercials are really really well animated, especially for the 80s and 90s? It's always something that kinda stands out to me, especially since alot of TV animation during the 80s and 90s wasn't exactly known for its stellar animation.

Heck where I live they still have the cereal of Count Chocula, Franken Berry, Yummy Mummy, Boo Berry and a new character Frute Brute, who is a wolf. They have them out for Halloween.

PUMPK1225 According to my Dad, they did let the Trix Rabbit get the Trix ONE time, way back in the '70s. They let the kids vote.

I love that Doug thinks that somehow Fruity Yummy Mummy, Boo Berry and Frankenberry are somehow healthier than Count Chocula. That's not real fruit in there, Doug.

I remember when I was 6 and are some Captain Crunch a day after seeing a commercial for it. It in fact DID get soggy, and since I used to have anger issues, I threw the bowl across the room and yelled "YOU LIED TO ME"

Did you know that Paul Frees, the voice of Toucan Sam, was also the voice of Boo Berry? AND that one of Sonny's voice actors (the one who also voiced Lion-O) was also Count Chocula? Also, how come the Trix Rabbit can't eat Trix, but Bugs, who is the EXACT SAME SPECIES, can? No, seriously, look closely at 17:23... He's eating Trix! HE gets to eat it, but the Trix Rabbit can't? Hypocritical, much?

Winners don't do puffs.

I used to be an M.T.I. in the Navy (think Drill Instructor, only not for Basic Training, but rather Advanced Training) and we had a Chief Petty Officer who used to say stuff that would make us have to leave the room to avoid laughing in front of the trainees. My personal favorite was "Son, I will put my boot so far up your ass your tonsils will be coated in Kiwi Parade Gloss Black," but a perennial classic was "Boy, I've been in the Navy since Cap'n Crunch was a Midshipman." I also don't get cereal for breakfast. A carb load at breakfast gives you hypoglycemia; you should get protein and fiber. In other words, the English breakfast, eggs 'n' toast. As Dave Barry said, the cereal is shown *adjacent to* this complete breakfast.

This has nothing to do with cereal but they also changed Chucky from Chuck-E-Cheese, now he's an annoying little rock star mouse that looks NOTHING like the original design.

Eh, it's kinda insulting, but it's NO WHERE near as bad as the NEW Post cereal commercials. They're so annoying and cringeworthy and horrible that my ears and eyes bleed every time I see and hear those horrible commercials. Don't believe me? Look them up. Just be ready to cringe so hard. kinda eerie isn't it? there's a cereal mascot who is addicted to the product it's advertising and tries his best to resist it and get on with his day and then these kids just force him further and further into eating it against his will and then there's a cereal mascot who desperately wants to dig into the cereal he's representing and yet these kids constantly prevent him from so much as taking a bite.

Um... he forgot to add in that there's a vote on the rabbit if he should get the Trix cereal. Most of the kids who are good hearted said yes, giving him somestupid trophy fill with trix and the trix rabbit happily ate it.

i was just sittin' here with my frosted flakes but then i see TT won first?! I couldn't be more proud!

The new honey nut Cheerios commercial where the guy tries to "modernize" bee is hilarious!

actually, as a kid, I felt bad because all those shitty kids never let him have just one bite of trix, but hey, they probably gotta bully someone

In case it hasn't been said, the rabbit from Trix actually DID get them once by winning a bike race. Kids were told to vote yes or no. In the end the yes won by a massive landslide and the ones that voted no should always hang their heads in shame for their cruelty.

Paul Freis was also the voice of The Thing in the 1960's Fantastic Four cartoons.

This makes me sad because there's so many cereals in the US we can't get here in Canada. (French Toast Crunch, Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Cookie Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Trix, etc.) :(

I live the UK, where the hell are those Lucky charms. Even in Ireland, I can't find them. Ironically.

Oh God, I remember when the Got Milk?/Trix commercial was on the air. That was one of the best cross-promotions ever. Of all time. Just the rabbit's little, "Ah?" at the end was awesome by itself...

I remember being pissed off when that commercial where the Honey Nuts Cheerios bee tried to give the cereal to Scrooge, and he stopped saying "Merry Christmas" and said "Happy Holidays" instead.

What happened to Tony's son...? "NOBODY KNOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

NC really needs to do more reviews of commercials and mascots. They tend to be the most entertaining.

Dude that's wild as hell. The critic is right i would've never guessed that one of sonny's voice actors was the same voice actor for lion-o. That's pretty crazy to see how wild a path a VA's career can take.

They actually did make a commercial where the Trix Rabbit ate Trix. So many people felt sorry for him that the Trix people held a poll asking if they wanted to see the rabbit eat Trix. The answer was, of course, a resounding "YES!" So they made it. And it was glorious.

i agree, though i did love tony when i was a kid. i can only eat frosted flakes when i dump a pound of brown sugar on it.

Isn't it funny though how the critic never mentioned that Homer sings "Can't get enough of that Sugar Crisp" in a halloween special? Until I saw this video, I thought that Sugar Crisp was a parody name of Golden Crisp. So at least I'd like to thank the critic for introducing me to the history behind the cereals (not just golden crisp). I think it might be cool if he did a remastered version of this video and included that clip from the Simpsons special. :)

I was surprised that the Nostalgia Critic wasn't aware that the Trix Cereal Commercials are not adverts at all, but actually live broadcasts from hell.

When I was a kid, we weren't allowed to have sugar covered cereal, but when we went to my grandmother's house she always had Frosted Flakes. Therefore they will always be my favorite, however I'm extremely partial to Cracklin' Oat Bran, which is the bees knees.

In the Flintstones defense, I think that commercial was back when people didn't know cigarettes were bad for you. I even learned in a health class once that doctors used to prescribe smoking to patients back then.

I am pretty sure sonny's grandpa is still alive he made an appearance as a judge in the another cocoa puffs commercial

The Nostalgia Critic forgot one thing about the Trix Rabbit. He did eat Trix cereal. A couple times actually. Kids voted whether or not the rabbit should eat the cereal and he did. The first time he ate the cereal was in the 1960s and the second time I think was in the 90s where he raced two kids and he won a trophy filled with Trix cereal and he ate it.

Yep. They run that contest about once a decade, the Rabbit always wins the right to eat them by a landslide. I remember the first one in the early 80s, and another in the early 90s, and I've heard they do it about every ten years.

Interesting bit of trivia:Apparently the reason that Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo-Berry were paired and voice like Boris Karloff, Bela Lagosse and Peter Lorre is because all three horror actors worked together for a while and since all three actors died a short time before the cereal was made, they had them put them together as the mascots in their honor.

The Got Milk? appearance was by far the funniest.

When I was in kindergarden I was obsessed whith eating Coaco Puffs. Every time the teacher asked me if I was school or home lunches, I would just yell that I was eating Coaco Puffs, then start laughing crazily. I did this for 3 or 4 days but stopped because I almost got in trouble. Lickily I always stayed clear of Puffs and enjoy a life of spamming

Yes, Trix was one of my fav cereals along with Fruit loops and Frosted Flakes. Trix is now looks like Cooca puffs in colors.

Doug missed a part. After they made the dog the mascot, they reduced the Officer Crumb to a one-shot villain who's gimmick was saying you're not allowed to have cookies for breakfast. So it'd only be the Cookie Crook at the bottom of the ocean. Crumb's now in the unemployment line along with Jarvis, Fruit Brute and the Soggies.
