@@agent_ninety9 Even though our government (and our election process, IMO) is "deeply corrupted" and I agree would take decades to fix, our government--under a new administration, hopefully Biden's starting in January--can still work with other governments around the world to address the climate crisis. I guess the big issue there (or one of them) is everyone's continued reliance on fossil fuels...and, the big "sub"-issue relating to that is having the courage to take on the oil companies and other entrenched, fossil fuel-related industries. Politically that would be difficult but sooner or later it HAS to be done, if this planet is going to survive.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Rapid technological development in this information technology revolution has enabled the ultra fast growth of leading edge companies to greatly enrich a small number of owners further balloning the wealth gap. This same economic phenomenon occured during the industrial revolution in most notably the UK and the US. Whether capitalism consequently fails this time in the US or adequately corrects is another question.

I've been following Noam Chomsky since my college daze over 40 years ago... "The Powell Memorandum" and the rot caused by the worst of the worst since Ray-gun has come to it's fruition... all I can say is that I'm glad I won't be around when the end comes like those poor Germans who had to root through the rubble when WWII was over
