Yes, I’m in Alaska so our morning is a little later than down there. BTW the sun here went a little after 11 and rose this am before 5. It doesn’t even get dark as dusk and dawn just just run together with the sun a little below the northern horizon.

@@PoppiB dittoo regards MORRVAIR. I like the Banana better. It's held together with bailing wire & duct tape. Something always going wrong with it. Makes for a fun escapade.

Thanks Trevor for the closeup view of that broken tree trunk. It was pretty.

This Nissan is a prime example of why a family car with street tires whether 4x4 or AWD are not designed for off road use just all weather street use, but even custom vehicles get stuck in this type of terrain.

Eh, what they were doing in the Nissan was fine, it's relatively smooth dirt road, it was only when they tried to turn around that things went wrong. If they'd just reversed out instead of trying to turn around, they would have never needed to call Matt.

@@KarlEller It's good advice to know when to turn around and when not to. I was getting stuck in sand going up a steep hill (back in the days before I knew about airing down). I had initially tried to turn around, but felt I was getting too close to tip territory. Not a good idea to turn around on too steep a hill. It's annoying to back down, but can save tipping over. In her case turning around was a mistake because of the high berm and lack of ground clearance for her vehicle.

@@buddybarker8511 The nissan kicks is based on the sentra platform. Even with awd it kind of struggles. We have a ton of these in white in the rental fleet for some reason.

They're all wheel drive (or in some cases front wheel drive) station wagons. They're the main reason I now own a truck rather than an "SUV". They are great for hauling groceries or taking the family on a road trip, but they are not anything remotely resembling an off road vehicle.

Yes exactly. Cars are still alive and well. They are now just taller and have a rear hatch. It amazes me people are fooled by the words SUV. Lol! There’s only a handful of real SUVs left. Most are cars.

This is why I recommend a first aid kit with a high quality tourniquet in each vehicle. Even QuikClot is good to have. Bad things happen when you least expect it so you have to expect the unexpected. A human can die within minutes from an arterial bleed such as the femoral artery there is no time to dial 911 because you will be dead long before they reach you if you cannot get the bleeding under control.

@@ElCid48 There is a proper bumper (an impact absorbing bumper) under that plastic bodywork...somewhere. Modern bumpers are engineered to protect the vehicle occupants, and also pose less of a hazard to pedestrians. With a big, oversized metal bumper, you can mow down pedestrians like in the old Mad Max movies. Aftermarket diamond-plate bumpers and brush guards do dress up (and are functional on) pickup trucks, though.

Yeah Randy has started working with Casey again too. Matt and Casey actually started off doing recoveries together, but had some sort of falling out.

I will never understand why people think the advertising hype about their road vehicles means they can go off roading trough hills and gullies and ruts and rocks without tearing everything up and getting stuck. Very nice of you to put the front of the car back on.

"That's a little to intimate for me" Trevor's a smart guy. Not very lucky in the snow though. Hope he got the 10c raise. After watching what happened that night with the ol yeehoos, Ed's a pretty legendary smart guy too! All that way to Bryce Canyon for a simple pull LOL. Seeing the trucks pop out like that never gets old for me. I know I sound like a broken record by now but hotdang that is a beautiful drive out to Dino tracks. Crazy gorgeous view!!

Next build should be a complete revival of the banana! EDIT: Where is Randall? He was one of my favs.

I am never lost I always know exactly where I am. Specific locations are a different story. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride

@@rustzz8 Just a minor adjustment here: "Bailing" is what you do when your boat is sinking. No twine or wire needed! "Baling" is what you do to harvest hay. Twine or wire is needed for this.

On a hill the lower tire set will have most weight. So going up hill in a front wheel drive car, you'd want reverse to put more weight on the driven wheels.

@@allmybasketsinoneegg Yeah I have an old 4WD Subaru, and its FWD/4WD. The 4WD is needed on anything steep uphill. Accelerating on flat ground weight transfer to the rear already, so accelerating uphill transfers almost all of the weight to the rear.

I love how you guys show everything in your videos. Falling people, getting lost and other little mistatkes. that's interesting.

Great idea to reverse up slopes, front wheel drive obviously. Matt, need you let others drive, you are doing all the work. We live on an Iisland in UK, "I say keep driving until you hit water"

Always a good idea to drop a Track when going offroading, especially in the dark !!

Back in the days of the oldtime lumberjacks when they used horses, mules, oxen, to work with, the poorest lumber camps used baling wire, or haywire, and were often called haywire camps. Hence the term we use today for something gone awry. (There will be a test.)

I have never been lost, just temporarily disoriented (for an extended period).

That second pull is the Quintessential example of a Kinetic Rope Recovery. The way a little yank at a slow speed made that big truck Jump up out of its hole was perfect for a Yankum Commercial. Spellcheck, add Yankum to my dictionary.

You'd think zip ties and gaffer tape would be an essential carry for the job they do. It's not like it would take a ton of room.

They (zip ties holding body parts on) are called drift stitches.

I hit the like button before I even watch the episode, because I know I'll like it.👍

You guys did a pretty good job of putting them bumpers and everything back on considering the circumstances it looked pretty darn good great job guys once again

It can be easy to be critical of these peoples' decision-making but I love that these folks are out exploring nature in some beautiful country. Really love that they know when they're in over their heads and call the pros for help.

If the blower only works on high it’s a relay in the passenger foot well

Not a relay. The resistor on the blower motor. They get quite hot on any other setting than full blast, that's why they're fitted in the airstream of the blower motor. Usually you can get to it from underneath.

@@labourlawact7826 If the resistor fails it is because the blower motor is failing and is drawing too much current. Replace the motor or keep replacing resistors!

@@Cougracer67 I once had a fan resistor blow on me, on a fairly new Isuzu ute. Replacing the resistor itself fixed the problem permanently. I agree with you that if the resistor fails again soon, the motor is probably on its way out. But they can last for decades also. 😊

when your car is in pieces, do not just call any towing company, call the Banana gang as they can build a car from pieces of metal to a complete vehicle (Corvair truck)

We need a “Day in the life of..” Matt off-road group so we can see the early morning to the later night tows and everything else. Kind of like fire department hurry up and wait for a call.

That's the TOWLIFE
