    Kris, I own a Nissan Ariya Evolve+ trim. You don't have to stretch your arm to adjust the audio volume. You can adjust volume on the left side of the steering wheel. Having a physical volume knob is nice. This is what many people want to have on their cars. I like Ariya volume knob and audio on/off button. Looks nice. Its placement smack in the middle also tells you that this is as much for the driver (when car is stopped) as for the front passenger. Another disagreement, there is nothing that feels cheap in the Ariya interior. Everything looks perfect to me. Well designed, great layout, excellent choice of materials. I love the lighted buttons and knobs, make it easier to locate when driving at night. I tested drive both VW ID.4 and Tesla Model Y. ID.4 interior looks far inferior compared to Ariya. Model Y is way too minimalistic. Nissan Ariya exterior and interior will have a broad appeal to people. Just today my friends looked at my Aria and they loved it. They are looking to buy one. Heck, if I have USD$55K more to spend on another EV, I would buy another Ariya, just a different color.

    Good looking car and probably the most reliable one in the segment with all the experience Nissan has gained with the LEAF during 12 years. Having Android Auto and Apple Car play, I guess the infotainment system is not such a big issue for many people, but the boot capacity should be closer to 500 litres even for the 4 wheel drive version for such a big car (few years ago 4.6 meters was considered a big big SUV in Europe like the BMW X5 1st Generation for example). Great video as always Kris. I look forward to watching your tests of the e-4orce AWD if you get your hands on one of those.

    The Ariya looks like a good car, without any big flaws. It doesn't have big pros at this point either, so it's probably about how you like it outside, inside and the controls. I would say that they come very well equipped, so if you spec an MEB car competitor to match the specs you may be surprised at how much more expensive they turn out to be. I still like the Volvo XC40 better, but I think I'd take this Nissan over an MEB (of equal price) or a Kia EV6/Hyundai Ioniq 5. Having no major annoyances is a very good thing in a car, really.

    Its a really nice design piece! Btw, any chance you will test MX30, which also looks great and even if EV wise they messed it up a bit, they released charging speed upgrade both for AC and DC this year so it may do little better on semi long trips... And it's similarly equipped and much cheaper than many more premium cars with HUD/LED Matrix lights, 360 cam, etc...

    Hi Chris got to sit in one a few weeks ago, feals nice inside but did not like the tactile switches, felt too big for me and way too expensive for the large battery version. Got to sit in the MG4 at the same showroom, I liked that better but no rear wiper and a lot more affordable,got to sit in the new Megane E on Friday nice car deep boot but at 40k UK pounds too much for a medium family car. Will be interested when you get to drive it

    I have a polestar 2 (your review and Kyles were what sealed it for me) and yeah, the AAOS is amazing (which is what I leaned on your review for). The cabin noise is definitely there in the polestar 2 though (which is fine for me because I have my other cushy car with dense acoustic glass and tons of sound insulation for long roadtrips) but the polestar 2 kicks hiney as a daily driver (just ordered the performance upgrade so I can kick a little bit more hiney). If I could only have one car, I definitely would put a high value on low cabin noise, so I think the quiet cabin might be the real differentiator for the Ariya in that space at its price point. I don't think I could ever consider anything other than AAOS going forward though.

    Thanks! This is exactly the kind of review I’ve been waiting for regarding the Ariya 👍 I’m 98% sure this (87 kW Evolve) will be my next car and first EV. The only worry I have is the Infotaiment. I did a test drive a couple of week ago amd noticed the same issues. I however didn’t try the Apple car play. Perhaps it could help up the faults of the navigation system? Did you test Apple car play or Android auto?

    Testers didn’t have coupled the press cars with Nissan Connected Services App. The system has no Internet in this tests and many functions are missed (like google search). Manufacturers should explane the press cars maybe. The system is really good when it has Internet. As well the app on the smartphone. charge planner is included as well. The Layout is more functional. The display resolution is quite good but not class leading. Apple carplay works perfect.

    @@c.s127 Enyaq iV 80 Sportline pros: +Bigger trunk with better dimensions. +Bigger center screen for infotainment. +Better and more modern infotainment. Feels more snappy than Ariya's. Not as good as Tesla's infotainment of course. But still better than Ariya's. +Probably a bit better matrix headlights. Which I need here in Sweden when I drive thru the night. +Isolation against road noise is great and probably the same as Ariya's isolation. Not sure yet. +Great alcantra sport seats if you pick Sportline. +Mostly well planed physical buttons or just touchscreen. One simple touchbar under the center screen and you don't have to use it. Just an alternative. Which I really like. +Simple and good electric towbar. +Solid and well built for Scandinavian climate. I live in Sweden so I need a good car for our switching climate. +Headlight washers. +I personally prefer the exterior design of Škoda Enyaq iV 80 as Sportline. Crystal face looks great in the dark. Just my taste, I know and some people prefer Ariya's overall design. +More Škoda dealers and service places here in Sweden than Nissan. Which makes ownership easier if you have to leave your car for some warranty-issues or repair for new parts. +Warranty is great. Probably forgot something. But both Nissan Arya and Škoda Enyaq iV shares some things like 360°-camera, HUD and much more of course. Some things are better with Ariya. But I find Enyaq iV better overall.

    I’m surprised you liked the steering feel so much. I felt like there was steering slack in the car I tested. Definitely more of a boat feel than a sporty driving experience. How do you compare the Ariya to the Kia ev6 - it seems like the ev6 charges a lot faster - both are not the most efficient cars.

  • @KrisRifa

    Steering felt very natural and progressive, EV6 steering in comparison feels more artificial and video game like. The harmony between the all inputs are better in Ariya, throttle, brakes, steering etc. I think they drove very similar, but you do sit a bit higher in the Ariya. I think the EV6 may just be a bit better because of looks, charging and infotainment system.

    I wonder why you & Bjorn can only get 90 kW when charging. Other YTers are getting 115 kW when charging in Europe. At that rate, the charging is as good, or better, than most of the vehicles in this segment. 5-80% in 35 minutes.

  • @KrisRifa

    @KrisRifa

    Yeah, that is a great question! I think it may be because it’s a bit colder here in Norway now so we are getting lower battery temps than others in a little warmer climates. That seems to be the only logical explanation 🤔

    @@KrisRifa based on your recommendation I watched your XC40 Recharge P8 video and there is NO WAY I'd pick the Volvo over the Ariya if I knew I'd have to a lot of DCFC. The thing that Volvo/Polestar have going for it is native Google integration, which all vehicles should adopt. I don't want to post another YTers videos in your comments but if you get a chance to check out @NissanElectrified please do. He has several videos where he's charging the Ariya and the "curve" is basically flat and, for him, it's been repeatable. The only vehicles in the segment that are better 10-80% are the EGMP cars but 5-90% nothing beats the Ariya in this segment looks like.

    "that is by far the safest place to have it.." Have you ever used touch capacitive buttons on a steering wheel? 🙈 I think just about every person who has driven a VW ID. car hates that shit. It's the most unsafe and distracting thing ever. The worst thing is that you'll find yourself accidentally "pushing" the buttons all the time. Even VW CEO has said that they have been a mistake and they will go back to normal buttons in the future. So you sir, may be the only person in the world or history actually defending them 😂🤣

    Not a competitive modern EV due to the charge rate. Even if you didn't road trip often, 130 Kw (if you even get that) is just not acceptable. We do have an Ioniq 5 and a Ford Lightning, so I'm used to much better DC charging. Even the new US Built ID.4 is now 170 Kw max charge rate.

  • @fredrikh8070

    Ariya has a better charging curve than Ioniq5. It’s really no use of high peak charging if the curve isn’t flat.

    @@fredrikh8070 And you know this how? I've had an Ioniq 5 since Feb 2022 and the 10-80% in 18 mins is real in summer and 30 mins or less in winter. The Ariya doesn't claim to be half as fast. I also have a Lightning with its very flat curve. Net charge time on DC wins over charging curves. 130 KW max in a modern EV is unacceptable even if the curve is flat.

    @@klossfam you really should check out the different charging competition videos you can find on youtube. Comparing max. charging speed is just so unnecessary. • @klossfam

    @klossfam

    Believe me, I know charging curves as we own an Ioniq 5 and a Ford Lightning ER. The Lightning is a pretty flat curve with a lot of time at 120 Kw or better. However, I've road tripped the I5 EGMP platform and there isn't a substitute for 800v platforms. They charge at least 40% faster overall vs a vehicle like the ID. 4 or Mach-E. The Ariya doesn't have the peak of either and even if a very flat curve, it will not come that close. I have real world experience everyday and do watch the videos...which are accurate when they show an EGMP car going 10-80% in approx 20 mins. Even with a cold battery, this 800v platform charges is approx 30 mins on a bad day.
