I’m currently driving my Ariya Platinum AWD across Canada. Yesterday I did 1,200 kilometers, and the air temperature was 32 degrees. In the hot temperature, the battery reached a peak of 127KW, and maintained 120KW until about 50%. Then it slowly ramped down to 80KW by 80%. It seems it likes charging in warmer temps.

European e-4orce version as well, but not at 4°C of course. That said, compared to the competition, Ariya throttles way less in cold climates and not at all in warm temperatures.

This is surprisingly low efficiency compared to what I am getting in California or people reporting in Canada during the warmer months. I got 2.8 miles/kWh; reaching 3.0 miles/kWh is not surprising, highway driving (208 - 227 Wh/km). Maybe cold weather + the 20" summer tires are more giant range killers than expected for Ariya.

Yeah, trade in values for used LEAFs have gone down dramatically since August. When I went in for service then, they gave me an unsolicited offer of about 33K CAD to buy it, 38K CAD for trade in (when purchased there was a combined 17K CAD incentive putting the cost at pretty close to the trade-in value after tax, so it really held its value as compared to the purchase price) for my 2018 LEAF SL 40 kWh with ~27,000 km IIRC. Last month when I went in for service the offer was ~20-21k CAD for trade in, at ~30,000 km. Kind of a bummer. I wound up cancelling the order I'd made in September (that hadn't arrived yet) and going for a used 2020 LEAF SL Plus 60 kWh (from a Kia dealership that a. had one in stock, unlike my preferred Nissan dealership, and b. gave a slightly higher trade in value) with reasonable mileage instead because financially it was such a different situation.

The Model 3/Y can sustain 250 kW for more than 30 seconds at least. And it doesn't instantly drop to 90 kW. Tesla will at least stay above 200 kW for a while. And then get 150 kW for a while. And then it has enough range to hammer to the next supercharger.

  • @einoware436

28:51 This is a big issue in EV marketing. There should be a standard test for avg. charging speed, would love to see some push for that. In Ariyas defense it would not make sense to advertise it as 90kwh because everyone advertises the peak speed but this is worst example of this type of advertising.

I had a reservation for the Ariya AWD e-4orce in 21 than heard nothing anymore. I changed by september to my present Kia EV6 AWD that I got in may 22. After 54 years of mostly German ‚premium‘ the best car ever. Just 10 minutes in a service center to change to winter wheels and in one year and over 12‘000 km nothing at all. My other cars where often several times in the garage to fix issues. Consumption including highways, passes and trackdays so far in total 17,4 kWh on 100 km. Charging HPC up to promised 240 kWh with no problem if chargers did really work up to standard. So far only Tesla chargers are reliable! The Ariya came in already too late and competes best with the mediocre VW groups range of products and far from Kia or Tesla. It’s a nice car but not more and Nissan is in big trouble. They even cannot serve the 160‘000 USD GT-R Nismo that we own. Was now 12 months in garage to get new electronics from Hong Kong!!! So for us Nissan is dead and will not recover with outdated EV eg Leaf or Ariya as a mass product.😎🇨🇭

The DC „Power“ is - sorry - ridiculous, the range of max 280 km with an 87 (!) battery as a result of high consumption is for me inacceptable (also taking in account the temperature) combined with an old fashioned infotainment….
