I miss archery

I heard of that a few months ago and was very happy Nintendo's remaking this. But now that I saw it, it's nothing like the original Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort. As a Wii owner, I'll keep playing these games with the OG disk and console.

I didnt believe in the strap. I was playing baseball, my brother came in without knocking startling me. I let go of the Wii mote mid swing, it shotted right next to him... I never questioned the strap again. I sent him the video with a caption "i cant wait to yeet the switch remote on you :D"

I'm very excited about this but I'm expecting each of the following things: 1. The game continually gets updated with new sports instead of being left at 7 2. Bowling actually plays well unlike in 51 Clubhouse Games 3. Matt is the final boss of at least one sport's singleplayer mode

All I hope for this game would be more sports as time goes on - like they're doing for Golf. We need all of the original sports back. I would love to see Basketball make a return! The ironic thing is that you can have all 21 + the 3 new sports for this game in an all-in-one package - Nintendo Switch Sports Ultimate!

I played both Wii Sports (2006) and Wii Sports Resort (2009) as a kid. So many memories made. Can't wait get this game and create more memories👌🏾

As a little kid, I played Wii Sports Resort and Wii Sports Club on the Wii and Wii U, and when I saw this trailer all the memories came back and I can't wait to play this! I'm a teenager now and still can't break my record of 4 strikes in a row in bowling. I also really liked Swordplay so I'm glad that's coming back too! Man, this better be worth the wait ...

When I think about it, I‘m okay with this. As long as they make a switch sports resorts after it, with wuhu island, every Mii in the original, simple Mii style (or if they want more refined ones in a style like miitopia), the original games plus some new ones, and maybe a little „story / free-roam“ mode, where you can maybe talk to people and they give you some challenges like getting 100 points on one game or beating a game without using a normal move or you can just take a walk in the island. I‘d even be okay if they add some new stuff to the island, as like the island itself aged over the years and got modernized (just not too much to keep the old atmosphere that bring us so much nostalgia)

I hope Wuhu Island will make a return, it is one of the most iconic video game location, to the point where people started to call it a character, it definitely needs to make a come back !

Like seriously, something you probably do not realise is that Wii sport resort is the 3rd best selling Wii game and the 12th best selling period, already making it one of the most familiar video game location. And considering the games above it are either minigames like tetris and wii sport, randomly generated worlds like Minecraft and ACNH, or games with generic looking environment like PUBG and Red dead 2, Wuhu Island stands out as an original, immediately recognizable location. And it is in Mariokart 7 and smash ultimate so its legacy isn't really going to die out immediately. Some games may have stronger fan base, but few people outside the fanbase are familiar with their location.

I'm so tired of nintendo releasing unfinished games to release 20 updates and DLCs afterwards, they did it with new horizon and it made the game really empty and boring for most of its lifetime. Like I'm not against updates that ad contents and fix some issues with the games, but it shouldn't be an excuse to release completly unfinished games. Switch sport looks really fun but 6 mini games with 3 being similar is clearly not enough to wait 6 months, only to get one new game in an update. That's only 1 more than the original wii sport that was sold along side the console, was a big revolution at the time and had more varied games.

I'd love an optional mii-only mode, where all the new models are replaced with mii, but that way, Nintendo also gets their new models.

Yes I was saying this. Just a toggle to turn on only miis would be what sells me. I want to feel like Im playing the wii sports sequel, the Miis are not only nostalgic, but they have a certain type of personality that is unmatched. They were perfect and it makes no sense Nintendo is trying to phase them out.

I think a new sport should be Dodgeball. Maybe you might be able to move your character to dodge and you can shoot as hard as you can to make the other “Mii” lose hearts. So that’s my prediction or suggestion.

My only complaints which are pretty minor anyway: 1. I'd really like to see the plane game where you fly over wuhu island and grab the green dots to learn more about the location which I can't think of the name of at the moment 2. Wuhu island missing and 3. Miis should be a bigger part of the game

I have that game! It's called Pilotwings Resort and it's for the 3/DS: you fly over the Wii Sports island and you can actually see places like the bowling alley, boxing ring, golf greens etc. It's really niche but so nostalgic - I'm really glad I bought it

Something there missing is the baseball that’s one of the most classic ones

Miis 100 percent need to be integral to this game, from being able to use them as your avatar to playing against them and levelling up your skill ranking to fight the pros, like Matt. If you do this nintendo, you have continued the franchise the best way you can and kept the originals style, just please don't let these new avatars replace the perfect ones you have.

Seeing Miis from roughly 13 year old software next to these updated avatars highlights how much Miis need to be replaced with something new

Nintendo: “You want Wii sports sequel?” The people: “yes, but not if it looks like that” But in all seriousness, I am looking forward to this.

I will be looking for this tomorrow morning, Getting back into a game that feels like Wii sports and Wii sports resort will be fun. And if they have the same amount of replay ability as the older games do.

I know we’re supposed to be focusing on the sports, but the actual resort itself looks phenomenal. I just wanna wander around and admire all the architecture.

This is incredibly exciting, but Resort had the upper hand by having TWELVE sports. Only having 6 (7 including Golf) is a little disappointing, I can only hope they add more after Golf, the Plane game on Wii Sports Resort is one of my favorite comfort experiences for example, and Swordplay Showdown was a HUGE highlight aswell

where does it say we can play as miis, timestamp? I think the characters are cool but everyone is crying over the miis so if you heard something no one else did, it would ease them.

The new models don’t look bad at all, I’d still rather have regular miis, though, maybe able to be yassified like in miitopia, but honestly IM JUSY SO EXCITED THAT THERES GONNA BE A NEW SPORTS GAME I MISS WII SPORTS SO MUCH 😭😭😭 (I lost a cord that attaches the switch to the tv and the video and sound won’t work at the same time, so it sucks the joy out)

Whrre is the running course ? That track with the bridge, the waterfall was such a big memory, and also all the balance board games were awsome (I need a switch balance board for all games and yoga and stuff we got with it, remember the bubble moving parkour or the slackline ? It was awsome )

oh my if they incorporate some of the wii fit games like running around the resort or balance type sports i'd actually die of excitement

I love Wii Sports and Resort with all my heart and really happy to see it come back but it just feels a bit underwhelming that there's only 6 games in total (7 with the golf update). I hope they do future updates and more sports. I'd love to see a return of boxing, flying planes, wake boarding, and that showdown mode with sword fighting

@@realbepis Honestly, I'm suprised that as gamers, we still encourage this behavior thru our wallets, which is literally all that game companies as big as Ninty care about. I would "write them a strongly worded check", if you know what I mean, but with this game in particular, I *refuse* to give Ninty my money for it, even if it's 99.9^99^999% off. I would only ever play it if someone gives me the game as a gift. All they had to do was make a 1:1 port Wii Sports Resort. I wanna go back to Wuhu Island with modernized graphics and online play dammit.

I am so exited for this because I even still enjoy to play the first Wii resort sports with my siblings and hope that Nintendo adds many sports to it in free updates and I am just so exited for new Miis.

Looks cool. A mix of the more popular sports and some new ones. Bowling Tennis and Swordfighting are absolute classics. I do hope either the original games are ported or you so a sequal like Wii Sport Resort with some of the other sports like the Plane Flying one that i loved or boxing.

I think the funny part of Miis not being as prominent as usual is the fact that if Nintendo had just stuck with the Miis, they absolutely could've just named this *_Mii Sports_* Seeing the Wii Sports series make a return is still super exciting though!

The Miis are the undoubtful mascots of modern Nintendo, they're the little weird and quirky characters every Nintendo fan loves to observe running around, competing, expressing themselves and having their fun in the games. And the original sports title is the one that basically established them as eternal icons of the Nintendo community, there was no way they were just gonna dissapear like that. 😊 With that said, I'M SUPER HAPPY THE "SPORTS" SERIES IS MAKING ITS STRONGEST COMEBACK SINCE "Wii RESORT"! 😁

Finishing touches for the game, maybe.

Chambara reminds me of the swordplay in wii resort. I hope in chambara they will also add a showdown mode, because that was really fun.

There needs to be a showdown mode for Chambara, like how they did with Swordplay in Wii Sports Resort.

I really hope all the sports from before make a return. Besides bowling and golf, the Frisbee, archery, and air sports were lots of fun.

@@gumtree541 There's just something that seems off about going from 5 sports to 12 sports (Resort) and then bringing the franchise to Switch with only 3 sports + 3 new ones.

Table tennis was one of my favorite sports in Wii Sports Resorts, so I hope that it will get that in an update.

Wow! I remember playing Wii Sports back in the day, and I sure know that this might be better!

This is definitely the most hyped announcement from the presentation for me, but it's real disappointing that Golf won't be available at launch since that's my favorite sport out of Wii Sports.

I‘m so glad it‘s not lacking at all like it seemed at first. Maybe it‘s because of Mario Golf. I wait till fall probably to get the game cause Golf is my favourite part of the game too😊

I’m praying they let us walk around in this environment. It all looks so beautifully designed and lived in. You can see so many shops and sites that would be a joy to appreciate up close. Would be a missed opportunity to not include that. Also being able to talk to others and see comments like in Splatoon.

“It’s a new iteration of the Wii Sports Series” without the awesome song and really cool features. Will never be better.

My only critique is that there is a lack of Miis. What made it fun was being able to play as your Mii and against other cpu Miis. Without that it feels kinda generic, like it could belong to another console.

I'm very excited for this game, however, the lack of games is pretty concerning considering Wii Sports Resort had so many, but I hope that it will be fixed eventually. My only other concern is the functionality of motion controls, because Wii Sports and Resort both had no issues when I played them. I hope the Miis will remain a significant part of this series considering they played such an important role in Wii Sports and Resort, but if this is not the case then it would probably take some time for many players (including me) to get used to the new style.

I agree with this completely. I suppose only time will tell whether or not it is worth it. Just don’t go spending your money yet.

LOVE THIS ♥ Although I really hope for baseball to come aswell... I loved it so much! :o Especially the training mode of that one.

Legit I was so hyped to see the legend (Wii) sports make its return and was so sad about the lack of miis through this presentation. That is, until I saw the demo with Takahashi and Koizumi. Glad to see they somewhat exist in Nintendo’s eyes but seriously, I hope we have the option to keep the NPC’s Miis.

Love how they say it’s a remake of wii sports, brings back so manny good memories!

One thing I wish we could have in this game is the ability to walk around! I love the little details the devs have added in the background.

This actually looks like a lot of fun! Ever since my dad's Wii broke, I wondered if I'd ever get a chance to play Wii sports again. This is perfect! It'd be cool if you can also add things from Wii Sports Resorts, like that airplane one, or the frisbee game. I'd love for tight roping to be an option too. Maybe Rowing Crew, Trampoline, and what was that one with the candle where you had to stay very still called? Goodness! There's so many great things you can do! Very excited for this to come out! Edit: I looked it up, and it's called "Locus Focus." It's apparently a Wii Fit game. I remember my brother playing it. Scary, but fun!

I will say, The background environments look beautiful in this game. As a kid, I would have wanted to explore these areas so bad

One of the only sections I played in Wii Sports Resorts was Swordplay and loved it so much, especially the ones with the stages as I was so good at it I got to the reverse part of it and almost got through all of that before my moms ex husband decided to sell majority of the games that we had for the Wii (including that and ones I bought). I hope they bring it back for this game as I’ve been wanting to get it but really hesitant to do so

I had so much fun playing this on online test, i wasnt interested buying it but already preordened it.

Guys, they still have original Miis in this game if you have watched their direct. I’m glad they’re still in it. This game is 10/10. Nostalgia to Wii Sports.

Well we know how well that turned out with the "Extra Game THEMES" (that's plural), in Mario Maker 2.

This year ahead was already shaping up to be one of the best but a new Wii Sports game is honestly just the icing on the cake. Absolutely ecstatic.

This looks so good! I hope they add more sports in the future. Boxing, golf, bowling, and tennis were my favourites on wii sports so I'd like to see them all make a return on this.

After the playtest I found only one bug, this was when I was playing bowling, I was in the same lane as another person and we used the same pins. When they bowled I had to get the remaining ones from them.

A game in the Wii Sports series not including Matt is a crime against humanity Out of all the announcements in the Direct, this was definitely the most unexpected. I love the fact this is a mix of Sports and Sports Resort and includes new sports as well.

PLEASE also launch all the wii fit plus games for Nintendo Switch as well!! I FRICKING LOVED THE TRAINING PLUS SECTION!! I miss playing Rhythm Kung Fu and Obstacle Course so much 😫

This is fantastic! I'm so glad Nintendo is continuing the Wii Sports series! I hope they'll bring back other beloved series soon, too. Like F-Zero, Pilotwings, Excitebike, Wave Race, 1080°, Kid Icarus, Battalion Wars, or Wario Land.
