But doesn't beat when shooting HHS/FP flash with 3rd party flashes =/ In these cases, it easily produces banding

Great test and thank you for taking the time to do it. I shot some video two days ago and found very little rolling shutter when panning with a motocross rider. It wouldn't be noticeable to the average person.

Thanks for the video. A little concerned re bands in the Z9, this is the first time I have seen this on the Z9 : 1. Is this due to lighting/leds or is this still there in daylight images. 2. I saw the effect in the video on the Z9 at also at 1/8000 s/s a little but more on the higher shutter speeds but NOT on the z6ii and it does not look like noise/high iso as it is not uniform. Any ideas as you have the camera ?

how many times are u shooting with LED signs behind u? to be fair though it doesn't look good, perhaps a global shutter down the road will fix that. Though a global shutter uses a lot of processor power.

This was banding due to super high shutter speed 1/32,000. Typically high use by itself don’t course that

Nice conformation video, thanks. I would have been clearer if you had selected shutter type, rather than silent mode, since it is possible to select electronic shutter when not in silent mode. Having said that, there’s no confusing the wacky image results when the “slow” Z6 electronic shutter was used.

I tested in a vertical mode b/c other have speculated that in vertical mode (given the direction of sensor scanning) it will look differently. So, apparently it doesn’t make a difference, at least in my test.

Awesome test man. This will really be good with sports, swinging a bat or a golf swing. Very helpful. Question, on the last side by side image, Am I seeing some banding or not so smooth bokeh on the grey part with the Z9 or is that just because the video is not converted to 4k yet at the time of watching and commenting. Maybe its my eyes. "been reading to much text on the screen lol "or the resolution Im watching the video in. The iso Im assuming is the same at 1/8000 of a sec. in any case thank you for taking the time and making this awesome test. Very clearly executed and explained. Rock n Roll!!!!

Thanks Vahag. Yes, the 3rd image to the right indicates banding with low light, shutter speed 1/32,000 and high ISO. I have tested with a faster lens at f/1.8 which allowed to lower ISO and bending is nearly unnoticeable. But again I’m shooting at 32,000 shutter speed. At shutter speed of 1/8000 and high ISO 25,600, no bending, just some noise/ grain. It is helpful when I can test and confirm something within my own environment and share with others. Z9 is on another level. Hope this helps.

Dear admin thanks for your vids...I think the BOMB of 2nd half of 20's decade will be GLOBAL SHUTTER for after 2025 in mirrorless,1st CANON then NKON then the others, then the RED MONSTRO(DSMC2) Vistavision (V lock) price then will FALL to real apropriate price as 20000,the FX9 to 7000$,and the mirrorless global shutters about 10000 $,after 2030 those fall again 50%,i mean real free filmmaking will be available for independent movies after 2030....

@@TouchLifeStudio I think it depends. It's seems that flagship models are focussed on speed and that's why shutterless would make sense. If sheer image quality is the priority then a shutter and a non-stacked sensor is a must.

The mechanical shutter beat the z9 electronic shutter. You just caught the blades at a more favorable angle with the z9. Also didn't anyone here see the high frequency banding in the z9 shot at 1/8000s?

Thanks for your comment. There might be very slightest banding at 1/8000 sec for Z9. Mostly noticeable due to high ISO but when it comes to freezing the action Z9 performed well as expected.
