I have both. I also have the battery grip. The Z6ii is a really nice camera. There are situations where I grab the Z6ii. It has limitations for bird photography and action. I like using the Z9 but it is nice to have the Z6ii as a partner camera. I do not need 2 Z9s. I prefer to have 2 cameras anyway. The second camera has to be close in operational style but be less complex for more relaxed shooting. I can always reach into the bag and get out the other body if I need to. The image quality of the Z6ii is very good indeed. Yes the Z9 is better but it is overkill for fun shooting. They are a pair. The differences are useful. I don’t always want a heavy camera so I use the beautifully compact Z6ii. The limitations of the the Z6ii don’t mean a thing if you also have the Z9. I owned the D 800 and thought I would only use full frame from then on. Then the D500 came out. I still have the D500. It offered things the D800 could not. They made a good combination as well. Now I am moving to mirrorless, I still believe that having 2 somewhat different cameras is a good way to go. Appreciate each camera for what it does well. I am never going to take the Z6ii birding, but I don’t need to. If I want to go to a family social event, I am going to grab the Z6ii and the small bag one extra lens and take that, not the Z9.

I am finally moving from my good old Nikon D600 with legacy F primes 1.4 G to the Z6ii with 1.8 / 4 s line glass. I don’t shoot fast moving objects and 24mp is far enough for my output needs/printing, etc. I got the chance to play with the Z8 last week, but rather than buying the latest model and having to stick old glass with an adapter. IQ and small ergonomics seem better on Z6ii with s line glass for my shooting needs. I’ve been shooting commercially portraits/food&beverage for about 10 years with the D600 and never really had the need for an D850/D6. Thoughts?

Seems like you are on the track to mirrorless. I think you will enjoy the light weight shooting experience . Your missing nothing much except OVF and blackout and lag. So keep that in perspective.

Hi thx for your video I have watched a few times 👍 as I'm on the z6ii but are thinking about a upgrade and did a z8 vs z6ii comparison shoot yesterday and for me the Z8 captures more detail but I'm not sure if its due to the low pass filter not being in the z8 or the stacked sensor or the mp difference but probably doesn't matter why but there is a huge advantage to be able to use DX mode on the z8 as that gives you 19mp vs the 10 on the z6iii, but now I'm wondering how the z6iii would compare and where it would fit in, for me its about capturing the most detail as the z6iii focusing is probably more on par with the z8. looking forward on your reply thx

In order to find out , I will need to test a Z6iii to check. I believe under excellent lighting condition, Z8 will be better in yhe end but still need a z6iii to prove my theory even if its logical but would rather see a test to really make sure. Maybe in the future I can do this video and hoprefully solves your curiosity

Can You explain what does the phase detection nubmer means and the EV numbers?

Years ago, I thought that the dslm would be easier to carry than the DSLR. My Z6 failed me for its weight. Z9, I cannot think about carrying one on my neck.

Impressive quality for the price of Z6 II . For me I prefer buy too bodys of the Z6 II than only one z9 for what I shoot. But now , with the possible lauch of the z8 , its better wait if you can

Yes, I was doing a live Instagram video for only my followers as a reward. This way folks can ask me live Q and see the settings without any jump cuts. Pure live. There will be another live event for the Z8 vs Z6ii and etc. Cheers~!

I suspect with a Nikon Z Fixed focal "S" lens the Z9 might step away from the Z6II.. and honestly it would improve the Z6II as well I believe. Do you have any fixed focal Nikon Z "S" lenses?

I have a few S lens. Usually when I compare bodies, I look for shifts with the same lens.
