    Thank you Dr. BoA! I love Sony video cameras and have for years. This to me, just proved my reasons as to why - I like focus and I HATE seeing a video where someone is trying to step up production and misses the part about focus. Almost like bad audio. We all have to start somewhere so if I get to help someone along the way - awesome. I am soooo happy to be out and about again myself!! 💖😁

    First, congrats on your recovery. I came across your channel when I was looking for a review of the Sony 18-200 lens and I watched your review of it. It looked as if it were a while ago because your hair was so much shorter. Lol.. But I really enjoy your videos like this. I am an amateur videographer. When I bought my first camera 2 years ago I was absolutely clueless about any details of the camera. Now of course I am slightly more educated. But I am still learning and your videos help alot. My current run 'n gun camera is a Sony NEX VG10, dated a bit but a fantastic camcorder. I also use a Sony A5000 for interviews. I prefer camcorders due to the 30 minute time limit on DSLR and mirrorless cameras. I have a nice arsenal of lenses and yes most of them are budget lenses but work great. The issue I am running into now is EDITING. I can shoot all day every day but for some reason editing for me is so very difficult. Any recommendations for a really user friendly video editing software?

    Hello Bryan Kerbow !!!! Everything is easy to shoot, but the editing does take time. I do NOT know of anything user friendly until you get into it a bit. I use Adobe Premiere Pro like many others. I watched KZread videos on it and just worked at it until I got better. THAT is where I spend most of my time...... but even that has gotten faster as time has gone by. I have an older Sony FDR-AX33 that shoots in consumer "4K" as do all the cameras we use that are listed as 4K. I prefer that even when the screen only shows in 1080. To me, it just looks sharper. The advantage to the DSLR or mirrorless that we have is the ability to interchange lenses and it is something we as photographers have anyway. I would LOVE a really nice pro level video camera, but would not use it much so that might be something for the future. Back to the editing. When I started, I sat with it, got frustrated, and just kept going. Laying in a simple timeline is relatively easy. It is the other stuff and layers that start to get more involved, and that just takes practice. And as I said, there are so many tutorial videos on the web and Adobe has their own for free as well. Not a real answer, but the best I have. 😁 Thank you Bryan for reaching out. 🙏💖

    Great comparison video John. I am very much with you - Sony for video and Nikon for stills. In saying that though and after using the Z6ii recently I was pretty amazed at the autofocus improvements in both stills and video. They are getting closer to Sony and Canon. Thanks for sharing the video John great work 👍🙏

    Adrian! YOU are the reason I mentioned the Z6ii. Nikon is getting better for sure. This D780 is supposed to have the same autofocus as the Z6 and I have been wanting to do this video for a while. I got sidelined for a bit LOL. I tried just after the accident but did not have the mobility. It is a little late, but was an eye opener to me as far as the clarity of the Sony video when cropping in. It is a little long, but I tried to really show the side by side and how each snaps to focus. I was going to sell all my Sony stuff, but will keep the body for astro and one lens for video. Don't really need it but ........ Thank you Adrian🙏 - now if I can talk James into buying one, I can try that too. 😁💖

If I move from Nikon would need to swap all the lenses to. Love these videos that help shed some light on it. All the best for 2021. Thanks

    Hi Stuart at Stuart Fleming Photography! I have been wanting to do this for a while but was unable to get around. I have an and love my Sony video camera, but when I started using a shallow bedroom for a green screen studio, I started using the D780 with my 14mm or 20mm lens to compensate for the shallow depth. It shoots in 4K and I LOVE Nikon color - I will not switch from my DSLRs if I can help it as I have many old lenses as well. I bought a Sony A7iii to try for photography but just do not like the look - to digital or over sharpened in my opinion but works really well for astrophotography - and video. I do love the EVF though since I do not shoot from the back screen, but I am not ready to go Nikon mirrorless. I rarely shoot in auto for video, but really wanted to do that for the comparison. This was shot with my D850 in full manual, and this kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZx2tJhtc93OiaQ.html in full manual with the D780, I use the light stand with the color and spider cube to make the white balance easy. It works for me as you can see in the last section where I am at F2. 😁 Thank you Stuart! 🙏💖

    I made this one a while ago and the tech has improved a great deal since then. My personal favorite right now believe it or not, is my Canon 90D. I use is in almost all my new videos and have used it for some of my music videos as well. The autofocus is spot on. I have not used a Lumix in a long time and I HATED the autofocus. If you have the cash, Sony does make some amazing cameras that have fantastic focus and many use them for that. 🙏❤🤗

    Hi Matt Klaus. I was really just trying to compare the autofocus. I was not using a light meter out in the park - only trying to match setting when in manual, not get a perfect picture. Both have advantages and disadvantages and neither is perfect. The end where I gave my thoughts is in manual and AUTOFOCUS on both. If you look, I am going between the two and it I was surprised at how almost seamless it is. I prefer the Nikon color myself especially when using it for photos. Think of it this way - you have no idea what camera a movie is shot with.... it is all metered and color matched. This is looking at autofocus that Nikon was never known for. 😁

    @@6hr0n05 The D850 is great in manual focus, but leaves a LOT to be desired in auto focus for sure as far as video goes. How can an image look too digital can u explain that more better...

  • @JonnyPink65

    @JonnyPink65

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Galaxy Stars! It is an over processed, over sharpened image. Just as a digital photo does not have the creaminess of film, or as digital audio does not have the sound of vinyl or tape, to me, it looks great for video, but kills the overall image of a photo. And again, it is just my opinion. If you go into the menu on your camera, you can chose your JPEG setting - fine, standard, flat, etc (I don't use those as I shoot only in RAW), but when you chose fine, it has a digital processed look. It just detracts from the OVERALL presentation. I prefer just the focus point and depth I chose to be sharp. Again, it is all personal preference. For those reasons, my favorite camera is an older Nikon D800 that to me, has that look that is closer to film. kzread.info/dash/bejne/loZ7lpmQeMq6erw.html Thank you Galaxy Stars! 😁

    Gabriel - yes taxes. They are tariffed differently as a still camera that shoot video, and a dedicated video camera. @@JonnyPink65 thanks for that fun fact. I know this is a bit off topic, but it made me think about how that little tariff probably kept YEARS AND YEARS of creativity from being expressed by artists / photographers / videographers who couldn't necessarily afford both video and photo equipment so had to choose one or the other. The technology was available but our government inserting itself into private transactions stunted our abilities. The negative trickle down effect that a little tariff / tax has must be so easy to underestimate. Reminds me of a documentary I saw called "How wolves change rivers". It doesn't take much of a change at the top before the bottom can't sustain itself. I can only imagine how many other tariffs / taxes have stunted the growth of creativity in mankind. We've got wolves at the top, but they're not changing anything for the better-- unlike the wolves in the documentary.
