Absolutely great shoe, I had the Pegasus 36 trail shoe and surely enjoyed them. I’ve used mines for a trail hike/run in a grassy terrain with some soft ground and they handle it well. It has become my preferred shoe for everything else

Great review. Wondering about Icebug studded winter running shoes. Of course I don’t know if you get icy conditions where you live.

These have the best grip from any Nikes I have tried. Handled that dreaded walking from wet/snowy driveway into the smooth cement in the garage with no slips. Normally I see my life flash before my eyes 😂 Agree wish it had some more midsole stack but they are comfortable

The scene on Rodders flat with the “rat” is superb.

I love my shields for wet day running and walking and one always finds a good discount on these...

I got suckered by the interesting colors and bought a pair last month. These became a surprise thumbs up for me, even just for straight road runs. I seem to be strapping these on for most of my runs now.

Yes they are such a great versatile shoe!

I had this before and returned it. Now that winter is around the corner I am looking at picking it up again at a bigger discount.

I agree with all your comments, great road to trail shoe and love the react in this shoe (Harry Potter ish) After using mine (and it could just be my pair) not even water resistant, wet grass = wet feet. Shallow toe box also. BTW a mouse 🐁 doing 8 min per mile pace😂

I love my pair, waterproof comfy and a nice grip for my area of canals roads and fields for walks with my dog

Nice to see Nike putting some effort into their trail shoes. I am always a bit sceptical about the value of Goretex in trail shoes. At this time of year once you are in ankle deep you are getting wet feet regardless. That is just trail running round here in the autumn and winter. I used to mince around trying to keep out of the sloppy stuff but now plough straight through. I get a childish pleasure out of being tired, wet and covered in mud especially now , at 55, my mum cannot tell me off. To me it is more important how shoes drain. Is there a way of incorporating this in your reviews? Great review and keep up your sterling work.

Have about 100 K in Norwegian winter in quite extreme conditions, everything from icy road to deep snow. A very good shoe.

I have both the gore Tex and normal versions of this shoe, and use it on my local light trails. Love them, also if they are clean, they look awesome casually too!

@@EDDBUD I’ve done like 700km in them… from 5km run to marathon distance training runs (in the snow last dec 🫣🤷🏼‍♂️) many half distance runs. All generally on mixed surfaces and in all weathers. Never let me down.

Back from Hawaii in October and these were my shoes across volcanic vistas, rocky shorelines and everywhere in between except the beach where barefoot 🦶 is king. Mahalo! Love this shoe in mint green and yes online Nike often gives extra 25% off the reduced sale price on many colors.

Nice review Edd! I’ve been dithering over the Shield and GTX models but went with the Shield because it’s soles are better in the wet (I live in the UK), although I prefer the upper on the GTX! Was a 51/49 call!

@@EDDBUD Quick update - managed to pick up a pair of black and white GTX for a bargain price of £60…. Would be rude not to! Shield I got got £65.

I wore these in Seoul a few weeks ago, it was minus 16 degrees. The shoes were great in ice and snow (even wore them up a mountain there). Picked them up for only around 80 pounds in Malaysia. 👌

Great video, thanks :) I am in the search for my first Trail running shoe as I am off travelling Central and South America for 6 months. Have you got any suggestions? I will be mostly using it for running aswell as hiking, I think it will be worth getting a waterproof shoe too. Thanks

I've got the trail 3 goretex, and they are great for multi terrain runs and races. They are heavy-ish, but the ext4a grip and waterproof nature make up for it. If in didnt already have some id be all over this price.

Just picked these up for £49 from the Nike outlet and I’m very impressed with them. I’m usually a size 10 but these do fit (albeit slight snug) me very comfortably

Great for that price!

The goretex version 2 was absolutely indestructible - 600+ miles in them, numerous times in the washing machine and two snowdon summits before they split. The version 4 for me is an upgrade on fit but only got 200+ miles before they split, but don’t let that put you off as it’s such a good ride. As you say it’s more suited to gravel trails and road rather than sloppy mud.

Yes the trail Monica is sometimes quite broad. Our trails here quite different in range.

I've had a pair of these for a year. I wear them more for knocking about, school run, anywhere the ground might be a bit damp. Saying that they do let a bit of moisture in around the toe area. Not seen anyone else mention this but my biggest issue is the foam in the ankle collar.. the 'sleeve' isn't sewn in at each end and the foam eventually works its way out, then you have to try and feed it back in (like the drawstring on a hoody) which can be a bit annoying!

Great shoe, picked them up for 100 EUR. Good grip in the wet, soft but stable ride and quite versatile, use them for recovery and even some tempo runs. No longer jumping over puddles but running throught them with dry feet.

I've not seen any reviews of puma's voyage nitro 3Gtx and was wondering if you've tried those and if so how they compare. They seem a relatively good value trail shoe and I'm a fan of the deviate nitro 2, so hoping they are a good option for winter running

Best Gore-Tex trainers was a pair of Adidas cost me £75 from MandM Direct used them for mega downpours and came back with my feet dry and well everything else drenched

I got a pair last week,darnt take them out tho,don't want to get them dirty.,.😮

@@PrisonMike81 could have just got a bad pair, loved the 3’s and they lasted me well over a year. Also could be how I run but the sock knit at the top looks like it’s been chewed by a dog

It’s my favourite shoes! The best one! Better than ultraboosts and also waterproof it’s great and even in hot weather these are breathable! The best shoes so far :)

Interesting. There’s a goretex inner construction here. Though not as serious as my air jordan 1 goretex surprisingly.

Hey man, I think you’re the only one who suggested to go size down. Every youtuber would suggest tru to size or better go half up. you my fave though. Can you compare sizing to normal(nike dunk) or running shoes?

Don't sleep on the Kiger 9s. They are Peg Trail 4s with lower drop and more forefoot protection. (Forget about the Kiger 7/8, those were junk).

hey guys i am looking for a hiking shoes for hot days and heard Trail shoes were great. Should i avoid Gore-tex though ? Cause i also heard you could sweat in those. I am just scared of having wet feet very fast in wet grass for exemple as trail Nike shoes seem very thin. Thanksss

Midsole has the same colour/design of the Saucony Peregrine 12. 😅 #tested

One trial run in the regular Pegasus destroyed my ankles. Just not enough cushioning for me or firmness in the sole. Obviously a very popular shoes, but Nikes and I don’t get along. Pity because I do like the grip!

Maybe though it’s more a road to trail trainer. Perhaps not the outsole for technical stuff

had them, the outsole wears out significantly after around 30k... Good look & feel, but Cheap quality!! that goes for most of the nike shoes these days.....

I had the peg trail v1, good mileage eater but now have three different inov8 shoes which are just more fun, while still being hard wearing and versatile TF G270 probably a favourite

Just not enough cushion in my experience. That’s the most important thing for me.

They are not mega thick but in very warm climates probably too much

Peg trail4 - only thing I like on this shoe is Gtx and red colorway 👍 rest is no good. Peg trail3 is better shoe, Kiger 8 & Kiger 9 are both better , and Wildhorse8 is totaly supreme to this PT4. Wildhorse8 is totaly the winner, please Edd buy wh8 and make a review and you'll see...

Ben Parkes reviewed this shoe in June 2022. Just saying......
