I think that the acoustic version is absolutely worth listening and reacting to. The full band version is quite different and more complex, both have their merits but I really prefer the acoustic one as more unique and perhaps surprising experience. I prefer reaction to both versions but if I had to pick one it is the acoustic one.

I don't know. To me it sounds very pretentious and disjointed (I know it's meant to represent different eras), I'm glad other people enjoy it more though. Keeper of the Seven Keys is a very felicitous composition. It starts as an ordinary song, then strays into a journey-like suite with little repetition and long solos (with could have gone VERY wrong but it flows naturally all the time), and the climax is superbly executed. In general, I think we can be happy with the average level of metal's longer songs. They all tend to have interesting structures and memorable moments.

That windmilling! You're the best Maggie, ha ha. - Tuomas has hidden small melody bits inside the song which describe the history and development of music. I’ve tried to put together all the bits that many commentators have said the song contains (don’t know if everything is true): African tribal drumming, a medieval hymn (presumably by Thomas of Celano): "Dies irae", Johan Sebastian Bach (Christian Petzold): "Minuet in G major and Toccata & Fugue in D minor", Arthur 'Guitar Boogie' Smith: "Duelling Banjos" (famous from the 1972 film Deliverance), Metallica: "Enter Sandman", the bassline from Nightwish: "Wish I Had An Angel" and Megadeth: "Symphony of Destruction". There's also a rap song at the end and an electronic bit and Mozart somewhere and the intro has (heh, I heard everything has) apparently some Johann Pachelbel at the core.

Wintersun's "Sons of Winter and Stars" live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studios is probably the best introduction to Kai as a drummer. I suggest at least watching this, if not reacting to it. Note: Harsh vocals abound in this, but tempered with clean as well. It is an "epic" piece of music as is much of the stuff we folks (opera and symphonic metal fans) will suggest.

Tampere has its special feature but Wembley has Troy's e-bow which I think adds so much more. Also, Floor's dead-pan is slightly better at Wembley...at Tampere there is a moment that she almost breaks into song. I wish there was a concert with the highlights of Tampere combined with the highlights of Wembley. But, then again, I could say tgat about many Nightwish performances...they seem to continue to develop/improve songs throughout a tour

Your face is priceless! I am a huge Nightwish fan and I regularly look for reactions. Today I came across yours ... and I loved it. That is the reason why I went through part of your playlist. Saw you did reactions to Meatloaf (I was still in highschool when Meatloaf released Bat out of Hell, was a big fan back in that day). Could not believe you (and your mom) never heard of him. He was great. Maybe you should ask your grandmother, she must be around my age I think. Also looked into your reactions on Dimash and Angelina Jordan. Since I love voices that are different from everyone else out there. I also love them too. You might want to look into Angelina Jordan on I think Norway 's got talent at 4 years of age. I also loved your reactions to Jinjer. I hope they are safe, last I heard they are stuck in Kiev Ukrane (don't know how to write that in English). Never mind the people that think you are pausing too much and get other stuff involved in your reaction. If they want to hear the song, they should not look up the reaction, they should look up the song. I love your reaction and I hope someday I can be here live when you react. Also you could look into episodes of Beste Zangers with Floor Jansen, Viljalied and off course Phantom of the Opera with bariton and original dutch Phantom of the Opera Henk Poort. Beste Zangers is a show with mostly Dutch singers, where every night another person is the subject and the others sing a song of his/her or a song that means a lot to him/her. All singers in a season are of different genres and it is really fun and surprising. The last episode of every season is Duet Night. Furthermore I miss Adam Lambert from Idols in the US. He is a very versitile singer too and he currently sings with Queen. I have been to Nightwish in Antwerp, the Sportspalace, and a set of tickets have been in my cupboard for 2 years now, waiting for Covid to be over and the concert taking place finally :) It is as great as in the video's to be there live. The thing I remember most is, even when you are way in the back on a balcony watching the show, you can feal the immense heat coming from the flames on stage ... I wish you the best of luck and hope to be on when you do one of your live reactions. Can't wait.

Okay, if you notice the Metallica's Enter Sandman riff there, Tuomas put a brief lesson in the evolution of music in this chapter. A harpsichord plays, followed by the Georgian chant in Dies Irae by Mozart, J.S. Bach's Minuet in G major, followed by his famous Fugue in D Minor, then followed by Metallica's Enter Sandman riff, finally ending in Rap/Hip-Hop and 90s dance music.

"He is very good at reading this." (Speaking of Richard Dawkins.) He should be, he wrote it. It is on the backing track, though; at the end he reads the last paragraph from Darwin's "Origin of Species" live. At the actual performance he seemed to get a bit stunned by the audience and there was a long pause, which was shortened in the editing.

The Piano sound from Troys Guitar is created using an E-bow. It uses magnets to make the strings endlessly vibrate, to make an almost violin-style sound. With the right pickups on the guitar, the signal can be translated into Midi, and using effects processing, that midi signal can be made into any instrument sound, so combining the two can make a guitar sound like anything.

"this first part is about the Big Bang..." (several bangs are heard) sadly, many people insist on equating part I to the Big Bang, which is completely and ridiculously incorrect--the entire composition is about what happened AFTER the Big Bang. the many booms in part I (with fireworks, in another epic performance) represent many millions of years after the Big Bang, when the first giant stars went supernovae and exploded heavier elements into the cosmos. these elements would later become everything you know--you, your friends, your car and house and city and country and planet--everything that is made of atoms was created by the explosions of stars, LONG ago. "this first part is about the Big Bang..." (it is not; it never was--it is about something SO MUCH GREATER!) *please consult your nearest astronomer or astrophysicist* (your astrologer is a moron, not a scientist--I said astronomer or astrophysicist) ...true story; just saying.

Enjoyed the reaction, Maggie. Per your question in reference to the song's intro and the "cello sound," I'm sure I'm not the first person to mention this in the KZread comments and probably in the live chat, but that sound he is getting on the guitar is produced by using an Ebow. The Ebow is most commonly used on electric guitars but it can be used on any stringed instrument as long as the strings are made of a ferrous (magnetic) material so the Ebow can affect them. The Ebow produces a magnetic drive field that for all intents and purposes acts like a bow on a string.
