    Tuomas's music made me fall in love with Finland and made me move here! Some people think that I am crazy but never underestimate music's power on someone's life. I held on to Nightwish in my darkest time and changed me as a person in many ways..I hope I can thank him in person one day, but even the thought of it makes my heart beat faster!

    @@dubm0 I said the good thing is. I didn't mention anything bad. I know how depression can be destructive, no need to be a genius for that. Tuomas said once how his creative job works: He sucks in all the good feelings, bad feelings, and things happening at the moment, and then he spits it out all that mood in form of songs, leaving nothing inside. It's a nice way to keep negative mood outside and avoidiong depression.

    Wow! This is the most interesting interview from Tuomas, or any other musician/songwriter, I've ever heard. The questions the guy asked were great. Getting all of that introspection on the various Nightwish songs, and albums, is so awesome! Very substantive and deep interview. Wow! That stuff Tuomas was talking about concerning the writing of The Poet And The Pendulum was fascinating. I will be listening to that song with newfound insight. Tuomas is such a unique and interesting guy. IMO he is one of the very best songwriters today. I have never heard a song from him that I didn't like. There are some that I don't care for as much as others, despite the fact that, on their own, they'd be awesome! They just have to stand up next to his great songs. This is the kind of interview that one must view at least twice to make certain they got everything! Now on to Part 2!! Thanks for posting! : )

  • @codyphilips4511

    @codyphilips4511

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@Paul_C I dont think the shoulder to cry on was meant as Tarja, it was Nightwish fans. Tuomas puts all his feelings and emotions into his songs, so in a way cries on his listeners shoulder. But after firing Tarja fans were crying themselves, and for him it felt like fans turned against him. So he couldn't cry on the shoulder anymore, cos the shoulder cried more and he felt like whore for the cold world. Like he needed to continue entertaining people that cared more for drama than for his feelings. You can still see some people on comments saying what a horrible person he is, continuing same old fake gossip and spreading lies about him despite many people's experience of meeting him and realising what a kind, gentle person he is.

    It's not surprising tho. He is clearly a fiercely intelligent person. Intelligent people also tend to be deeply curious, so going into the sciences wouldn't at all have been surprising. Another interesting point is that music is essentially an expressive form of mathematics, it's an established fact that musicians and mathematicians share neurological similarities, they might perceive and express things differently, but they both work on different expressions of the same thing. There are a quite a few famed musicians who dable in sciences, Queen's Brian May is an astrophysicists (a published and accomplished one), Brian Cox is a particle physicists and professor, Milo Aukerman punk rocker and molecular biology researcher or more historically Alexander Borodin Romantic composer, chemist and professor.

    Omg, I've wondered how he felt listening to the songs that immortalized his feelings of the time he was writing them. Whenever I write or produce something, after it's finished I never want to see it again, because I change all the time and the things I did in the past don't make sense anymore. I think if I wrote lyrics and 15 later still had to listen to them, I'd hate it.

    Well, when you make something monumental, having great quality, you can go back and be proud still. Especially if you have big fans and you know what you did was genuine and seriously good or made you of what you're now. As a photographer I can see what you mean - there are many times I just don't like to review my images after a while, having only handful of my personal favourites that I'm really proud of. Still, my clients and people around me get fascinated by something I have long forgotten or never thought it was that important. That makes me happy. But yeah, I think the creators move on once they create and process something.

    It's wonderful that he had an outlet, and it saved him... I dare say that out of most of the people who commit suicide, if they would've had the chance to look back on that time in their lives 20 years later, they'd be telling themselves to not give up, and to keep on living. But in the moment, when the world is crashing around you, it's nearly impossible to see any hope. Without a creative outlet, something to pour your emotions into, the battle to Live is a million times more difficult.

    Maybe you should learn the reasons that led to letting Tarja go. It was all Marcelo, Tarja’s boyfriend, that was turning Tarja against the band and wanted to decide everything, even where the band should have concerts. He wanted them to only perform in big arenas to get more money and got Tarja thinking that too. - No South America anymore, not enough money coming. So it was Marcelo and lust for money that ruined the whole thing. You can check this all up, just google. You can start with Open letter.
