@@s.b200 Tuomas also started to study Environmental sciences in university of Kuopio, back in 96 (or somewhere there in time). But then it occured he had smtg else to do, which took all his time.. 🖤🤘

@@sateentuoksu It is cool that he started the studies. But since music had such an attraction to him I can only imagine it was the right path to go for music. He is just so, so creative. In science it's also a great strength to be creative. However, science does not allow for much deep expression - it's about logics in its purest form. Maybe that wouldnt be giving enough for him....at least thats what I can imagine. Although, he has "oceans within". His songs connect with people like me who does work with the ocean (in my case related to climate change in the arctic). He helps the ocean through his music and poetry. Also, we scientists need to convey emotion to be able to reach people with our science...and I have an idea that I might realise through my PhD now, where I might try it :)

I loved this insight into Tuomas, he is just a great guy. I truly hope with his low self-esteem issues, that he is loved by millions. His genius allows so many of us to escape reality a little bit and smile.

This was in 2005, the time Tuomas wrote The Poet and the Pendulum. I'm thinking about the last part of the song, "Mother and father". A piece of musical history... Thanks for sharing!

I watch this Maan mainiot clip every year and have done so for... Almost ten years. This interview means more than world to me, because Tuomas really let's you into his world and it's just such an immersive and intensive experience. Absolutely love it. As if he was a brother to me or something like that.

That Was Very Interesting. Kind of Sad In A Way, But Whatever He Thinks of Himself To Us He Will Always Be A Great Composer/ Musician. Nightwish Will Always Be My Favorite Band! Love Them All! Thanks Trinx, Your Great Too!

There is definitely an aura of sadness throughout the video, especially at the end. You can tell this is his depression era.

As a biology teacher for over 30 years I would have loved Tuomas and Floor in my class . They feel nature in every bone in their bodies.

We are so blessed to have Tuomas here in the same time we live. What ever he may say about himself I think that he is a genius, not only musically but also as a poet. I´ve never used any other drugs but music, and when I found Nightwish they lift me up to another level. We all can escape with his marvellous music, and to continue our life as a little better humans. Thank you Trinx for uploading this.

Just watching Tuomas feels nostalgic to me. I love this man.

Wow, thanks for this. Never seen this one before, and it was one of the best insights what's going on inside Tuomas' head. Very honest talking.

Tuomas is the Steven Spielberg of music: he just inherently knows how to hit every emotion he is going for.

Thanks so much for compiling this, Trinx. Tuomas is such an interesting person, from the way he perceives the world and how he shares that perception through his music to his humbleness and sense of smallness in the universe. He plays emotions with sound and shares that.

Hard to find any words to describe the feelings and thoughts this brings to my mind... Like Tuomas finds nature and certain places giving so much, I can think my places in nature, where energy flows back my mind and heeling the soul. Thanks Trinx! RE: Marco 'quitting' Nightwish It seems like Marco was just fed up with the music business in general. He mentions the greed of streaming services and record labels. I'm sure putting out his own solo record probably had a lot to do with this. I very highly doubt it was anything personal with the Nightwish camp. So he may even come back if he takes some time away from it all.

Another brilliant artist who is one of my favorites, Martin Orford (of IQ, Jadis, John Wetton) quit the music business for the same reason. I had a short communication with him and expressed my love and appreciation for the gifts he produced, while purchasing a second copy of his CD. It's a true shame that the "money people" behind the "product" that music has become, squeezes all the profit out for themselves, well before the creator gets a dime. But we as consumers are equally to blame, the sources by which we get free music is only the tool, we use it! It's like the old saying "Guns don't kill people ... people kill people." I feel that people with guns kill people - just as those who have a choice to purchase music from their favorite artists have the choice to support them with a purchase or avoid rewarding them for something that enriches our lives. I'm pleased to say Martin has dipped his toe back into the water by playing with Jadis recently. I am hoping he find his way back, just as I sincerely hope that Marko does as well. My ridiculous collections of CDs, DVDs, books and art challenges my storage capacities, but I've always felt it is vital to support artists we appreciate who might otherwise be starving. Art is Life!

I met Tuomas at pirates of caribbean"" in L.A. Disneyland.the day after sunset strip show! Nov. 2007 he and jukka so cool & down to earth. A genius he is ! His music and words are best I've ever heard. The songwriting is fantastic awesome & bad ass!! 🤘 Thank you for changing the world 🌍

Thank you Trinx. Very telling how open he and his family are.

Btw this Tuomas' parent's house is located by a lake in deep forest about 8 km from the Finnish-Russian border.

Thankyou Trinx for this it was a very interesting watch, just enforces how much of a beautiful human being he is.

I never imagined how similar Tuomas is to how I was in my life and how I grew up...and especially how he uses movies and stuff to escape the world. For Tuomas, it's The Village. For me, it could be any of the very long films. Inception, Dances With Wolves, all of the LOTR Extended editions.....the longer the better.

This is so beautyfull the hole conversation is great Tuomas is for me the Mozart from this time . and how he groing up in life thats great .

thanx for sharing this, it gives more dept and understanding of the person Tuomas is. His empathic soul, sharing his save places with us through his music. Isn't that what we all want? being save and cherished by our loved ones? I think Tuomas is a very wise man who knew at a very young age that being famous or rich is not the same as being happy.

He helped so many people expressing their feelings of craving and longing for a deep human connection and love. I hope he found people close to him that he could share them with other than through his music. It’s messy but important to tell others what you want and need.

What a gift musically and personally. Childhood is such a precious gift. Each human life is an experiment in which we interact with reality or not. Protection from the the challenges produces an outcome and in Tuomas's case produced brilliance with a twist. I am grateful you/he has managed to create such compellingly, beautiful music despite the obsession to withdraw. Thank You.

She was a childhood friend and schoolmate. I think somewhere is mentioned that his mother helped Tarja to learn to play piano at his home. They also did music gigs together before NW. Maybe that is one reason which explains the happenings in 2005 and the way how it went. But in this video he says that would like to hug them (End of an Era band members) all. Tuomas, Emppu and Tarja founded NW and surely they all feel plenty ... one has to keep in mind that when they started, they were "nothing" but a school band...and they grew up together to be world famous globally known pioneer band of this genre. I also wonder how Tarja thinks these issues at the moment but surely she has to admit that with NW she got famous too. They all got support by their music teacher Plamen Dimov who was(is) very important in the beginning.

No fight, no divorce. Marko is 55 and is suffering from depression. When Nightwish won an Emmy award in Helsinki in may, Tuomas and Kai dedicated it to Marko.
