The voice is a Workington in Cumbria accent, it's a bit diluted, but it's still there and easily recognised by a fellow Workington man, aka, me!

I can not describe how happy I am this man is in Nightwish. They couldn't include a better guy than him as the 6th memeber. Kai, as well. Such a beast, such a great guy. Two great, humble human beings that happen to kill on their instruments.

The two best additions to Nightwish. Floor Jansen and Troy Donockley.

@@heikkimuttonen5288 I disagree Troy is one of the most talented musicians in the world. He is integral to the Nightwish sound and has given Tuomas a lot more options when he writes the song. He's stepped into Marco's shoes in taking on the singing parts and is incredibly good at talking to the crowds. Floor and Troy revitalised Nightwish. So yeah all 3 but I put those 2 at the top - they're probably irreplaceable whereas we know Marco can and has been replaced and according to his latest interview sadly won't be coming back.

Floor's the living proof that certain frequencies can induce tears. She frequently does it to me when she unleashes. I was quite overcome when I realised that was her soaring above the choir on Ad Astra. I've nicknamed her "The Dutch Condor". 🤘

The moment that gets me every time is when she sings her first "Ave Maria..." in the live performance with Marko. Its quite extraordinary what an effect music can have on you.

I would dare say that certain combinations of notes or chord changes do that. The build up to the "note" is just as important as the note. there is a chord change in "Music of the Night" from Phantom that slays me every single time. No other composer does that to me as much as Tuomas, and Nightwish executes it perfectly. But I totally GET it!

Brilliant interview, Troy is a Star, and so thoughtful in his answers to the questions, ......the one thing that really puzzles me is the five people who gave this video the thumbs down, what the Hell are they thinking ??????

Can’t believe I’ve only found this now. Love this interview. Been following Troy ever since the early days in You Slosh. Class musician, and a top bloke

What a guy. Really, what a great atmosphere he creates whenever he speaks. You can tell he's a genuinely good person and a real music lover. Keep bringing us the pipes, Troy!

As a huge folk music lover, I've been aware of Troy's work since he played with Kathryn Tickell , Barbara Dickson and The First Goodess, Maddy Prior and I wasn't surprised to hear he was guesting with Nightwish. I was really surprised to hear he'd joined as a fulltime member though (although he still guests with other artists). Having watched the '48 Hours' documentary, I feel that while he is an absolutely exquisite player and performer, it's his stable and down to earth character that makes him such a hugely valuable personal support to Tuomas in particular. Wonderful addition to the band.

It’s no coincidence Troy got the task to talk to the audience at the Denver gig. Not only because he is the only native English speaker in Nightwish, but also because he is calm, collected and has a certain way with people.

Troy is such a sweetheart! Love his optimistic vibes. :)

Little did Troy know he would be singing & playing all his instruments at the NW online live show - An Evening with Nightwish in a Virtual World - he was awesome and very busy! 😊

That 20 minutes went by so quickly. I could listen Troy talking for hours. Great interview once again.

This guy is the Anthony Hopkins of the Nightwish World. Troy is Amazing!!

I loved what Troy had to say about the feelings when listening to different types of music, as well as talking about how one could listen to music for entertainment, but then also listen to other kinds of music for self-discovery. It was also interesting to hear him talk about how he got interested in playing the Eullin Pipes, and about their limitations.

Olga Hein Thank you for the correct spelling of that, I couldn’t remember it. I think it’s really cool that Tuomas is giving Troy a little more lead vocals now in addition to Floor and Marko.

All the stars aligned when Floor & Troy joined Nightwish, they are one of the best bands in the world.

Troy seems to be such a nice guy to chat with. Thanks for a great interview once again ✨👍

Troy was a great addition to Nightwish. I've not long been into metal, but what won me over was various fusions - symphonic metal, and folk metal and more recently even progressive metal.

What a lovely friendly guy , down to earth - Brilliant watch 👍

Troy and Floor seem the best buddys amoung NW, they seem very close.

Such a great heart of a man with talent to spare. “Troy, bring us your beautiful pipes!”

We all love Floor (and yes, her voice is "stratospheric") but also Troy becoming a permanent member of Nightwish has made the band much better and versatile. And he seems the kind of guy who is always fun and interesting.

Troy - I really hope you read this... I think you are such a fantastic addition to this band. You bring a fresh musical element that just multiplies the dynamics and capabilities of everyone in Nightwish. But, it's more than just your musical abilities (which are vast and unique!), it's also your personality. You have a wonderful spirit that is so evident every time you speak. You bring out the best in your bandmates musically, but also spiritually. I don't mean that in a religious sense, but in the sense that your mates seem to be at such ease when they are with you, like they can just let their inner selves be free. You seem to be such a kind soul, and your musical talent is so genuine and inspirational. Love Harvest, by the way! It's excellent!! 💜 Also, Sagan's book, "Cosmos," absolutely changed my life. I read it in the mid-90s, and, even though the science was dated, it absolutely opened my eyes to the possibilities within a universe that I now realized I knew very little about. My entire perspective on everything I thought I knew changed by the time the last page was turned.

Just paused the interview to listen to Endlessness. It is a perfect example of how Tuomas earned the title 'Metal Mozart'. What a composition! Great performance from Marko on lead vocals, too.

Another great interview, also so nice to see someone from my part of the world showcasing the friendliness from this area, although Troy himself comes over as such a real, genuinely nice guy. Such an honest, modest guy too.

A band with a rather big age span - 17 years between Troy and Floor.

I absolutely can't wait anymore to hear that album.. In 2014/2015 I was absolutely hyped for EFMB but this time... I can't even describe how much I am looking forward to this record.

Love this interview. Troy is such a joy to listen to and I personally love that he became a full member of Nightwish. I feel the whole ensemble just works better than ever. And he certainly brings more to NW than just his Uilleann pipes, that is plain to see. Great interview, FaceCulture! :D P.S. We do *NOT* share 97% of our DNA with a banana! ;) We share half of our genes (50%) with a banana, not half our DNA. It's not the same thing. You can only share DNA with your parents, siblings, etc. I share 50% of DNA with my mother, same as everyone else. Genes that we have in common with plants (like the banana plant) is a different matter altogether. It's quite impossible for us to share 97% of DNA with a banana, otherwise we'd be plants! Great apes still are and will always be our closest genetic relatives. :)

I guess he meant metaphorically. Like, we are all connected on much higher level than we care to know. Everything kind of fits something and share roots of the incredible vastness called Nature and life. We're made of star stuff, as Carl Sagan used to say. :-)

I think Troy's vocals are a change and change can be hard for some. I personally like it when a band has multiple vocalist the set multiple tones. I like it when a band covers a large range music so I can still listen to my band as my mood changes.

He just brings something extra to nightwish,I have heard nightwish from the start.It would be booring just to do the same old always.So taking on this dude who can do so much wierd stuff is great.I love if tuomas can mess around with him for real.I think troy Is great for tuomas mentally wizard stuff.Floor is just horrible.when that beautiful big lady fires up.holy crap just shut up and enjoy the ride.She must be the world champion in singing .The only singer that tears me up.

Would someone please slap the "uhhh" out of the journalist's head? I couldn't even finish the interview because he is so unprofessional and unprepared.

This guy is beginning to represent the downfall of Nightwish for me. I grew up loving them, but with him as a permanent stay, the rock element of the band is all but disappearing.
