    Petterson had one of the worst games. The first chance with the goalie down and out he chosed to make a stupid pass that only a few can handle. Then he misses a wide open net on the 2nd chance. Then he turns over the puck on Preds 3rd goal. Then the rest of the game he just mishandles pucks and loses them in the offensive goal. TERRIBLE.

    In defense of DeSmith I can tell he was nervous trying to fill in for Demko, and he did okay it wasn't entirely his fault. The main problem for this game was Canucks god awful power play and it's like they lost steam and commitment after they couldn't score having 3+ power plays. Petterson couldn't wake up tonight either, the whole team fell asleep in the 3rd. Good job to Nashville though, their defense is strong as hell, this is going to be a fun series.

    It's the most pathetic and lazy form of criticism that people are laying onto him. What about the 0/4 powerplays?? What about all those penalties the likes of Zadorov took?? What about Pettersson's performance?? What about the defensive lapses that led to the goals? What about the fact that they had over 80 shots but had 40% of them blocked? What about the fact that they only ended up with about 18-19 on goal? What about the fact that again, they take far too long to create scoring chances, allowing the opposition to set their defence? We always blame DeSmith, and it's driving me insane.

I’d agree a healthy Demko would’ve performed better, but a lot of people act like DeSmith did terrible, he didn’t. You’re correct on the those other points, Petterson’s performance, canucks power play, and it felt like every shot canucks took wasn’t thought out, they just took a lazy shot everytime after the 1st period while the predators were locked in on that defense.

Even Hughes and JT Miller weren't connecting on passes, were fanning on shots etc. Add to that a frustrating "collapse on net, get bodies and sticks in shooting lanes" flawless strategy from Nashville and a bunch of really unlucky bounces and that's how the game was lost. As they've done throughout the season, they'll re-focus and bounce back. Looking forward to Game 3. I mean you could try and not hang DeSmith out to dry so often. Of the three goals he let in one was a tip, another was letting Forsberg walk right in and the last one the puck cleared the zone and then Petterson passed it backwards to the preds. In a game when you needed your defence to be as tight as possible they totally blew it, even with the tip still going in then it's a 1-1 game at the end of the third.

    Desmith can play some nights, he’s learning how to handle the pressure of being our starter. You’re absolutely right it’s not all on him, we had a lot of chances to score and we just couldn’t put them in. Demko is like the backbone of this team though and I imagine it did have some impact on the players hearing the bad news. But it’s gonna take more than goaltending to win the series. We will see how Casey does in game 3. I don’t expect the same result. Some positives were the pressure we were putting on Nashville’s defense, keeping the play going. Nashville blocked 31 shots. And they were quicker and more collected this game. It should still be a close series.

    Hats off to Nashville from a Canucks fan. Even though we really should have tied it with some guilt-edged chances, in the end, I'm not complaining with the result. Nashville looked the more composed and more up front. Wanted it more. And I think tonight, we just witnessed the biggest fall form grace for a Vancouver Canuck. Elias Pettersson has sadly exposed himself as a one hit wonder. He cannot handle the pressure that is put on him, especially in these playoff games. If he doesn't step up his game, he will be in serious danger of becoming the worst in history.

  • @Tee123tee
    @Tee123tee11 күн бұрын

    Canucks fans NEED to pick a new team to cheer for. The ownership has ruined this franchaise for good. The problem with this franchise starts with the owner, then moves onto management and coaching. You've got an owner who behaves like a child and cares more about his tweets than the actual team. The problem with the Canucks the past decade was that they never commited to building a cup contending team. So what does francesco aquilini do? Brings in Jim Rutherford. A person who wants to build a cup or bust team. He even said in a phone interview that he doesn't want to commit to a rebuild and wants to speedrun it. So great. Canucks didn't commit to rebuild the past decade, now you put out the same issue again? So then the problem moves onto coaching. You've got Rich Tocchet who hasn't done much other than have a good regular season. He puts on a tough guy persona, and criticizes his players even when they score hattricks. He benches players for not performing. Yet, he is inconsistent with his benching. Myers creates turnovers all the time, yet he never gets benched. Casey DeSmith is an awful goalie. Yet he still choses to start him over Silovs in a crucial game. This tough guy persona isn't gonna work well once the team goes back to losing next season. Before you know it, he will lose the room and there goes another coach. How you gonna build a team when half of your team is going to become free agents this summer? Any sort of chemistry built this year will be gone. A cup winning team is built through years of tough playoff losses before they can win a cup. It's not built in one season. Now that Demko is injury prone, Canucks don't even have a franchaise goalie to rely on. They should have spent time developing Silovs for the future. All the flaws will be exposed next season when all the excitment dies off. Only will Canucks fans then will realize how badly the ownership has trashed this franchaise.
