and I told a friend in text messages if the Preds keep blocking shots like they think they're playing no skater and 6 goalies, but 5/6 of the goalies don't have the full goalie gear on, and the canucks keep hititng, a Pred will go down with an injury, and sure enough, down went Statsney in the 2nd. I don't know what exactly hurt him, but taking 90+ MPH shots without the goalie pads can't have helped.

@@Cheyennemae.A He left some time after that hit, though that may have been what triggered the injury, but hard hitting is part of physically wearing them down. whether it's being hit by a 90+mph slapper, or a big dude making big hits. Also, Stastney also turned his back into the hit, which is an incredibly bad habit to have. By the time Joshua realized Stastney had done that, he was already committed to the hit and the best he could do is not go full weight in, which it didn't look like he did. I've never seen Joshua be a dirty player that headhunts. He just plays hard and dishes out clean hits, though sometimes he botches a hit or a guy does something dumb who doesn't know how to properly take a hit.

in Vancouver, goaltending is the highest prioritized role while other teams in the NHL focuses on offense or defense. It's always been like this in Vancouver, the way they play hockey is "who needs a good offense or defense when you can find a good goalie who can make 30-40 saves per game". At least this year, Canuck's offense and defense stepped up.

That OEL pairing though, that was apocalyptically bad! Statistically the worst defense pairing in the NHL in the 2022-2023 season. How's getting an assist, blocking several key shots and dishing out a couple of big hits "invisible?" I'm beginning to think he could score 6 goals, get 4 assists and break a record for points in a single game and you'd still be saying "he's invisible!" He did was he had to to help his team win, that's all that matters.

How convenient you mentioned only the secondary assist? Petey does more than score goals and setting up nice play. He is known for his defensive plays too. By the way his play and shots tonight has more purpose in it. If we are seeing those from Petey then he is close to breakthrough.

Solid plays from our boys, they definitely played hard and you can sense they wanted this. I’m still not seeing Petey doing their thing and that 2 on 1 with Högz and Mikheyev, man that would have been a sweet looking combo, both of them have the patients and the puck handling skills this team needs, but it didn’t go in this time around. Usually with that much time with the puck and no other surrounding players it’s a sure goal. Time now to forget about todays game and prepare for Game 4.

they actually got way more then that. Watched all the games and the Canucks shots on goal stat is really selling them short as they're really getting at least double what that stat says. Problem is it doesn't count whatever hits the Skater meatwall. Though that strategy against a team with as many players as the canucks have that can wire hard and heavy shots is not a good plan. They've already lost 1 defenseman, and how many more will it cost them? Even if not missing games, but just getting to bruised and worn down they can't be effective anymore is enough to get smoked once you lose that step.

Weird game. Overall the Canucks did a pretty good job controlling the play later in the game. A lot of the Preds third period was spent on the outsides. But there were a few brain farts that led to too many decent scoring chances. At least this year's team seems to recover from their brain farts and get the clear without a fire drill but this team has been so good about NOT having them in the first place, a game like this is kind of frustrating. Still, I think they were a little too passive in the third and got away from pressuring more. Game 1 they did a better job keeping the pressure on. I think Petey and Hogs are pretty close to a breakthrough. Game 4 hopefully. I think the Canucks are in pretty good shape. If they can win a game like that then it bodes well for when they clean up some of the slop. They really need to focus coming out for game 4 and try to bury this Preds team. I think losing game 4 probably kills the Pred's spirit.
