@@Clearfully Especially given how awful he's been most of his time here, and that he started the first week not even looking like he belonged in the AHL, let alone the NHL it got so bad. He did battle back and started the road to redemption by about mid season on. The main thing I don't like about his game is he takes too many bad penalties, but I'd rather then then being an on ice spectator costing us goals. At least when he's taking penalties, that means he's playing the game rather then watching the game even while on the ice.

@@Clearfully I think the main source of problems is the $6 mil cap hit every year for what amounts to a bottom half stay at home defenseman. If he were paid at most half that, I think much of the vitriol would never have started up in the first place. That's always been my main gripe about him up until that disasters outing last season with OEL. I always thought he was alright, but heavily overpaid for what he is and brings.

@@Clearfully Though I think Alvain and Rutehrford were preparing for the likelihood of Myres leaving at the end of this season and that's a big part of why they got Zedorov, so they'd have a big, hard hitting, clear the net defenseman to take Myres' place, plus, at the time they got Zedorov, Myres was barely playing NHL hockey and at times barely playing AHL hockey, so they probably were considering refusing to make him an offer. Since then he has leveled up his game and gotten back into it and I could see him staying for about a $3 mil cap hit per year contract at most, maybe even as low as $2 mil. If he decides to hang up the skates after this, and go on his terms, on a high note, we've got good prospects like Juulsen and Friedman waiting in the wings to step up, along with some developing guys like Jett Wu who may also be ready to step up in a couple more years.

That's possible, the only question would be did he contact the glove before or after the puck went by? IMO the Canucks are trigger shy after that failed missed offside challenge that cost them a penalty on top of a goal standing and that penalty ended up costing them a 2nd goal which cost them the whole game. That 2 minute Delay of Game penalty if your challenge doesn't go is a killer!

I'm pretty sure that record's been broken again, most likely by the Flames Oilers series of lacrosse scores in hockey games.

He's been that way all season long. Maybe this is the first time you noticed it? If so, that just means Zedorov is doing his job as a primarily shut down defenseman since they're pretty much supposed to be invisible as you normally only notice them when they're flubbing their defense coverage or taking bad penalties.

Pettersson was so useless this game. He had something like 20+ family and friends to see his first at home playoff game and for all intents purpose he did nothing. I would've rather have Podkolzin who plays hard no matter what. I don't know why they got DeGussipe in over Podkolzin. Watching the last few games with Podkolzin on the ice, he was a beast. He would be a good guy to have during these playoffs.

I hope Bettman doesn't make another call to the top official to ensure this Canadian team gets eliminated, like he did in 2011 when the officials ripped the Cup out of the Canuck's hands, put a bow on it and had it sent to the Bruins. There has NEVER in the history of the NHL been a less-deserving -Stanley-Cup winner than in 2011. Canucks were TWICE the team Bruins were and yet....?!? And, I'm not a Canucks fan.

OK...good things and bad things in my opinion. Good things: I like the way the canucks mostly stayed true to their system. They battled hard and were fast on the Preds especially in the 2nd half of the game. Lindholm was excellent. Joshua obviously. Miller, Demko, and the whole D core, really. Hughes eventually settled in and found his stride. And especially the way they seemed to wear out the Preds. By the end of the game they looked like they were skating in mud. Keep hitting them and wearing them down. They really had the pedal down in the 2nd half of the season and I think that's where the Canucks can find some value. Bad Things: Undisciplined stupid penalties. Hronek's in particular but he wasn't the only one. None of them were "good". The first half of the game was proof of how meaningless Corsi is. I don't know the numbers but it felt like the canucks carried the possession play. In spite of that, most of their shots and chances were useless outside shots with clear views or minimal screens for the Preds goalie. I really didn't like the first and most of the second. Credit the Preds for keeping the canucks to the outside but it still felt like they weren't really engaged and willing to get into the dirty areas until the third. Canucks need to dial up the intensity right from the start cause the Preds aren't going to keep dropping 2 goals in 12 seconds. Anyway, good start but lots of room to play better than that I think.
