Good to see you back bud! Assuming you still have the grand prix... Its time to add a timing chain video to the channel. On mine the timing cover has a small coolant leak, but it's so slow (half-ish qt/2weeks)...I'm trying to decide if I want to do it myself or take it to a shop... I know I have most of the knowledge and tools to do the job... But it will also take me a long time and idk if I want my car down for that long? But again... WELCOME BACK AND CONGRATS ON THE NEW HOUSE!

Hi Shannon. Great to hear from you too! I do still have the Grand Prix, and it's still running strong! I can certainly look into make that video for you. It may be a bit though...until next year for sure. It's not a small job, but it is doable. As with anything, having the right tools is key for that job, as you said. If all goes well, it is about a 1/2 day to a day job. But as you know with cars this age, it doesn't always work out like that. I will look into it for sure. Thanks for the support and on the new house! It is very much appreciated!

How can we send you $? You helped me save a little by your 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix video on how to change a window regulator. And I just wanted to send you a couple of bucks. I wish you lived close so you could look at my car and tell me what the heck is going on with it. I think transmission but was told it's something else. I hope I'm wrong! lol So glad to see you back! If I were close to you, you would've been more than welcome! My fingers are crossed that it's not a transmission issue...that's the worst case scenario on these cars. Keep me posted on when you find out what it is. And thank you for sticking around!!! Like I said, very much appreciated!! Thank you!

Glad to hear you’re coming back. You have saved me hundreds of dollars on the Infiniti jx35. Just had a few questions about the jx35. The light on my outside door handle on drivers side has gone out. It it a pain to replace that light. If not can you tell me how to it? My rear camera has gone out I have a new one so what do I need to do to replace? Last question. I had the front bumper replaced because of rocks and bugs through the years. When I got the vehicle back the air bag light is flashing on the dash I have gone back and forth with the body shop so I’ll just do it myself. Where is the air bag sensor located. I can’t see any wiring going down near where I think the sensor should be. I really don’t want to pull the bumper back off. Thank you for the quality of your videos and taking the time to explain what you did. I’m changing my plug and coils using your video to do it. That alone will save me about $500. Thanks again

Thats awesome news! Very happy to hear the videos have helped out! I'll help out on your questions. Unfortunately, the LED in the handle can't be replaced on its own. The whole handle needs to be replaced. It's not a hard job, but not an easy one either. The interior door panel needs to be removed to gain access to the handle. It's a tight fit...it can be more frustrating than anything else. The rear camera should be plug and play, as far as I know. Access is similar to how you would change the rear license plate bulbs, but you'll want to remove the panel entirely vs letting it hang (see my plate bulb video). The only thing I don't know off the top of my head is where the wire connector is for the camera...if it is in the boot lid, or does it run into the car. Hmmm, that's a good question too, for the air bag light and the sensor location. I'll look up the schematics next chance I get and let you know. Hopefully soon. Thanks again for the great feedback, I really appreciate the support!

I've come to the conclusion that I don't have the strength of a man to really pry that thing off without doing real damage. So I couldn't take the whole Caliper off before cleaning it out and putting in the new hardware. I had to work with the space that I had

This is a comment for one of your older videos and for some readon KZread keeps unsubcribing me from mass different channels... Anyways, this is aboit your Grand Prix.. weve been modifying the ram air duct system and putting them on mass cars man.. .. i have an L67 in my Cutlass with the Grand Prix Ram Air duct.. we stuck them Lexus', Hondas, MOPARs, name it.. 20 bucks from the junkyard in my area... If you put a Boost Guage on a N/A vehicle you can watch the car gain boost, not really gain boost but there are gains.... the guage will read -15 lbs and at 50 MPH go to -5.. before the ram air it would stay around -15 no matter what speed ypu were going... Anyways man, just a little food for thought.. budget stuff.. especially in this day and age

And a Merry Christmas to you my friend. Glad to see Santa pulled you out of that snow bank you've been hiding in. LMAO 2 years huh. Seems like just a week or so back that we chatted. Yes, yer still replying to questions and comments. You've responded to a lot of mine in the last year or so. I know cause I've been saving every email notification I received when you respond to a comment of mine since June 21, 2021. Been a minute or two. LMAO Been some really interesting conversations in that time. I really enjoy driving the old Grand Prix now. All the ding dongs and dash lights and D.I.C warnings concerning the ABS/Traction Control are gone and haven't come back....yet. The code for the 02 sensor went away after the drive up to Port Elgin as well but now I have a new one. P0446. Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit (whatever the hel...heck that is). I haven't delved into that to much yet. Still looking for the cooling system leak. Had it into 2 shops and they couldn't find it. For now I'll just buy some shares in Prestone and stock up. It isn't bad. Only add a liter every 3 to 4 weeks now and I don't do a lot of driving anyway. It only tends to leak when it warms up and builds pressure in the cooling system so it should be able to make it through to the nice weather when I'll be able to start pulling things apart to find the rukafrussin leak. Personally, I'm betting on the water pump. Just a hunch but a mechanic at one of the shops said there was a few drops somewhere around the water pump. It's to bloody cold to change it right now. Prestone, hands and cold weather don't make for a happy pump change nor a happy idiot (me) changing it outside in the cold weather. Another thing I need to get changed now that I think of it is the blower motor for the heater. It still works good I just have to keep a rubber mallet in the car so when it doesn't work I can give it a little tap to get it turning. Been like that since I bought the car. Just keep forgetting about it. It's now added to my "Wanna Do List". LOL Also, do you know if the motor in the drivers seat that raises the back of the seat up and down can be changed? It moves forward and back and the front goes up and down but the rear just goes clunk. It's a hard clunk so I'm pretty sure it's the motor. I really don't want to go to the trouble of changing the seat. In fact if the motor in the seat can't be changed I'm not going to bother with it. If it can I'll wait till spring and then I'll try to pull the motor and try to fix or replace it if it can be pulled out. I'm just not changing the seat. I've changed the motors in the seats in older cars but with these rolling computers, I have no idea if it can be done or not. Well, there's the extent of my bitc....rant session for now. I was reading in one of your earlier posts that you started working on cars in '99 or 2000. Jeez, you'll be retiring in no time. LOL The first car I ever worked on was in I believe it was July or August of '69 and when my license renewal came up in 2019 I didn't bother to renew it. I think 50 years of working on cars was long enough. Besides, I'm to old to be busting my knuckles and back working on these cars today. I'll work on my own as long as I can but nothing else. I hate cars today. The oldest car I ever worked on was I believe a 1903 Rambler. 2 body panels rotted out so I got out the table saw, a scroll saw and some 1/2 inch plywood and made new panels for it. The body was all wood. Those were the days. That old car is still around today and still runs. It used to belong to my dad. When he sold it he bought a small motor home, built a 2 1/2 car garage and put an 18 X 24 foot addition on the house and still had money left over. I never asked what he got for it but he must have made out like gangbusters. I wish I still had pictures of it. Heck, I wish I owned it. Can you imagine an open body car, no roof or doors, driving down the road in the middle of winter freezing the dingle berries off a brass monkey. Be like changing a water pump in the middle of winter. LMAO Well, I think that's enough for this comment.....or should I say bitc.....ummmm rant session. LMAO Anyway, a Ho Ho Ho and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours and all the best in the New Year. I hope to see more posts on this here channel of yers. I always enjoy watching them and commenting on them. Take care and until Nexus time..... CYA

HAHA indeed Santa did. At least enough to make a video lol. Indeed we chatted just the other day. Without a doubt, I talk with you more than anybody, maybe even my own friends LOL. Wow, June 21st 2021? has it been that long already? Really does seem like yesterday since you first commented. And oh yeah, there has been so great ones LOL. That's awesome news on the ol GP. Well...almost awesome news. Looks like, aside from your new P0446 code (which isn't a really bad code anyways), that coolant leak is still kicking around. I was hoping that would have been solved by now. Not only that, even other shops couldn't find it? Interesting. Water pump is possible, I changed mine a number of years ago (before I hopped on to Good Ol KZread). I actually 2 issues...both a small like what you're describing, and the pulley had play. With the few drops, that sounds like a good guess. But i'm with you...it's not something I would want to jump into in the cold. We've been luck y so far this winter, but that cold(er) Canadian winter is definitely starting to show itself LOL. Hmm, that is a good question. I'm not 100% sure if the motor can be changed on it's own, but I think it can be once the seat it removed from the car. But I think the harder thing will be to try and find a new motor (or even one from the junkyard). But I couldn't answer that one definitively. HAHAHA yep, I am an old guy in this business by todays standards. I don't know many people in this business who's been in it as long as you've been. Damn....69? That's crazy to me! My dad wasn't even a teenager yet LMAO. Oh, I would've loved to see that Rambler! I know the days of wooden frame rails and wooden bodies (before my time, but I know about them hahaha). Can you imagine trying to fix a car today in the same way? Let me use some 2x4s and inch plywood to fix your Tesla LMAO. WOW, he really scored with that sale to be able to do all that with the money! Can't believe it's still around too! They don't make em like they used to. OK, I can't lie, that last water pump comment made me literally laugh out loud. My family thought something was wrong with me LMAO. Well Sir Miss Chevious, it was a pleasure to catch up, as always. I hope all is well otherwise. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and stay out of trouble. Oh, what the hel...heck. We know that won't happen! HAHAHA. Until Nexus Time!

@@NexusAuto I do believe I've found it but first....How are things up your way? I hope everything is going well for you and yours. Don't know about you but we've seen so little snow so far it's unbelievable. We'll get a little dusting of snow one night and by the next afternoon it's gone. Some nights have been damn cold. We've had a few at or slightly below 26 F. Day times have for the most part been above freezing. Now for the good stuff. I think I found the cooling system leak. A couple of days ago I went and picked up some coolant for the car. Haven't had to add any for a while and I was getting concerned that it might getting low. Around 1:30 or 2 Am I decided to mix some of it up and fill the cooling system. Found the rad was full but the overflow tank was almost empty so I filled it. While I was filling it the spotlight happened to drop down and was shinning on one of the bypass hoses. Low and behold there was moisture on it right where it plugs in. Not sure what it plugs into but it's one of the ones you were mentioning. I just don't understand why it's been so elusive. I've wiped it several times to see if it was leaking and I've never found signs of a leak. Go out after midnight when it's dark and colder than an old wh0re's heart with a spotlight and it's as plain as the nose on your face where the leak is. Oh well, at least I finally found it. I'm going to replace both bypass hoses. I'm not going to be doing it in the foreseeable future though. We're looking at temps from the upper 30's to the upper teens in the next couple of weeks. That's just a little to cold to be working with coolant outside. I'll freeze me itty bitty wittle finners off. LOL I'm just not into self abuse. Anyway, just thought I'd drop a line to let you know about the leak. It can't be bad. Haven't had to add hardly any anti freeze to the car for a while. Hopefully that doesn't change before I can get it fixed which could be a couple of months in the future when it warms up a bit. You take care and I hope 2024 is treating you good so far. Until Nexus time... Cya

@@NexusAuto Hello there young feller (I get to say that because I's an old fart). I hope the new year is treating you good. How is the family? Haven't seen or heard from you in a while. I just wanted to jump in for a minute and give you a lil update. Last week on a very cold and blustery day the Irish luck kicked in again. It was around 5 in the evening. It was about 33 degrees F and a little windy. I took a neighbour out to do some shopping. He had several stores to go to. At the second store the friggin blower motor stopped working. I kicked it, I hit it with a pry bar, hel..heck I even nailed it with a wooden mallet and even swore at it. but to no avail. That dirty son of a biscuit absolutely refused to work. By the time I got home I felt like a frozen turd. I only had a spring jacket on. It was always warm in the car. Sooooo I went and ordered a new blower. Those damn things are bloody expensive. I almost fell out of my chair when I had to pay $53 for a brand spanking new one. LMAO Anyway, yesterday got up to 54 F so I decided to put the stupid thing in. It took me longer to collect the tools than it did to take the thing out. Putting it back is when I really realized that gravity sucks. I had to install it using only one hand. Couldn't get under the dash with both. It kept falling out. Finally I got a piece of 2 X 6 about a foot long and a piece of decking about a foot long and between them they didn't work. Finally took out the glove box and was able to get a 2 X 2 between a metal brace and the motor and exert a little downward pressure with the useless hand that wouldn't fit under the dash and it held the motor in place long enough for me to get 1 screw in. That's all it took. Honestly. it really was. LMAO The rest of the install was pretty easy. 1 hour and 35 minutes start to finish and the car was heating up. Blower works excellent. That stupid thing has held on for about 4 years. Couldn't it hold on for another couple of months. Damn blower motors. LOL I took it for a drive this afternoon. About 35 or 40 km one way. Speed limit was a whopping 50 Km/h all the way out and back and about 60% of that was out in the country.. It got so hot in that car I had to turn off the heater and roll the windows down. Not sure why but I think I got the heating problem figured out. Now, if that damn weather will warm up a little I can get the bypass hoses changed. I think the absolute worst part of changing the blower motor was laying on the sill. Not sure if I mentioned or not but I broke my back about 32 years ago. Yesterday I was laying over the sill when I heard and felt a crack in my back (and no I'm not trying to be a poet) lol. I wound up back at the hospital again around 1 in the morning. It hurt like hel...heck. As it turned out the luck of the Irish blew it and screwed up big this time. I had good luck. WOOO HOOOO!!! LMAO. I did what the doctors and the bone crusher (chiropractor) couldn't do years ago. I knocked 3 vertebra back into place. It really really hurt but today I've been walking a lot better than I have in years. I should be back to normal (at least as normal as I can get) within a couple of days which is a good thing. In the next installment of "As My World Turns And Falls Apart And Screws Up" I'll tell ya about the Kia that I got conned into fixing today. Parts will be in next week and I have to get at it before the weather turns really cold again. So in closing I'm going to leave you with a little teaser. I got a call from a friend this afternoon. He asked if I would check the brake fluid in his Kia. It was making a funny noise. This is so funny I'm sitting here laughing like an idiot......oh wait a minute. I am an idiot. LMAO Anyway, I'll send you another message when I get the car done. I know you're going to laugh your ass off when I tell you about this. So, until Nexus Time my friend, you take care and have an awesome up and coming weekend CYA

@@missychevious3137 Hey there, sir Miss Chevious. I also call you sir because you are an old fa...gentleman. LOL. But hey, I'm getting up there a little bit too, but I still have a long way to go LOL. But sometimes I'm not sure if the car needs WD40, or I do. HAHA The new year has been great so far, and I hope it's the same for you. The family is doing great as well. Everyone has acclimated to the new place really well...haven't looked back at all. Oh of all the times for the blower to fail...had to be when that temp was all the way down! We had some really cold days there. Oh wow, you really went all out with that blower LOL. I'm actually impressed with that price, considering parts prices these days. Not bad at all. Ok, honestly, I equally laughed and was impressed with the ingenuity with getting that blower in. I know that pain all too well (not on the Grand Prix, but on other cars). The awkwardness is the hardest part of the whole thing. LOL. Awesome news that you got it done though. I would have chuckled to see that video and the expletives I'm sure came out when trying to get the damn thing back in! Nope, you never mentioned the back before. But wow, that makes doing some of the things you've done even more impressive. I know that feeling, I have multiple back injuries over the years (first one was a sporting injury in my early teens). But I didn't expect that...you actually fixed your back working on the GP? Maybe the blower going was not that luck o the Irish there! That's hilarious and awesome! Maybe you're a little taller now too! LOL. It's a partnership with a GP, you fix it, and it fixes you HAHAHA Ohhh boy... gotta love those Hyundais and Kias. It's a 4 cylinder Kia, isn't it? I can't wait to hear about this one! Looking forward to it! I'm already chuckling! It's great to hear from you again, and fun times with cars aside, I hope all is well. Until Nexus Time....

@@NexusAuto Hello again young feller. Hope all is going good. Hope y'all are being at least a little "mischievous". I really wish they'd learn how to give an accurate weather forecast. I have a few things I want to do on the car. I check the weather forecast and then I make plans for that day and the next. Said it was going to be 58F I believe it was either Tuesday or Wednesday so I was going to get the kill switch in the car finished and clean the inside of the old girl. 38F is a degree or 2 lower than 58. Needless to say it was to da...dang cold to work outside. So I took it over to the car wash and got her all shiny and clean. I'm sure the old girl let out a sigh as I drove home cause she really wanted and needed a bath. LOL Anyway, on to the Kia. I damn near piss....piddled me knickers when I got the phone call about checking the brake fluid cause the brakes were making a funny noisy. I'm still sitting here laughing about it. Anyway, I had him bring it over and was going to take it up the road to figure out what noise he was hearing. Went about 10 feet and stepped on the brakes and just backed up and parked it. It had an awful grinding noise in the right front. I got down and had me a look at the brakes. I almost crapped my pants at what I saw. I turned to Sean and told him he was taking a cab home (I actually took him home). He wasn't driving that thing anywhere. I'll get on to the description in just a minute but the next line will give you a clue as to where all this is going. I came inside and got on Amazon and ordered new pads and rotors for the front of the friggin car. Then I took it to his sister's house across the street and parked it. The parts came in I think it was 4 days later. Now on to the job and the description. LOL His sister has a cement pad about 15' X 25' in the back yard so I pulled the car up on that and jacked it up. First the right front rim was seized to the hub. It took almost an hour using penetrating oil, heat and a 12 pound sledge to break it free. Then the fun started. I tried to pull the caliper but it wouldn't budge. I couldn't get the piston in the caliper to push back in. It took almost an hour to get the piston back in just enough to be able to remove the caliper. However, I still couldn't get the caliper off. Took me a while but I finally figured it out. The dumb as...twit drove it with a bad grinding sound in the front end for a couple of weeks. It tore the rotor all to he!!. Aw screw it, all to hell. The rear side of the rotor was roughly 1/8th of an inch thick. The steel part of the pad was approximately half the thickness of a new pad and the pad itself was non existent. Some how the pad dropped down and jammed between the caliper and the mount and wouldn't move. I had to grind down the end of a five foot pry bar so I could get it in by the old pad and use a 6 pound sledge to drive out what was left of the pad. It finally popped off and I do mean popped off. I had the caliper tied in with a thick wire coat hanger and when it popped off the caliper took off like a rocket and broke the coat hanger and the flex line for the brakes. So off we went to Parts Source to get a new brake line. Then I had to deal with those bull shi...crap screws that hold the rotor on. I had to get out the brand new screwdriver I bought the week before (couldn't find my impact screwdriver), a 3/8 wrench and my brass hammer (about 4 pounds). The screw driver has a 3/8 steel shank that goes through the handle and has a round end on it. I had to get Sean to push down on the wrench while I beat the crap out of the screwdriver. The screw finally broke lose. The next one was worse. The last hit with the hammer broke the end off the screwdriver but at the same time the screw broke lose. Who ever decided to put those screws on was a real screw ball. Lets face it. If the caliper mount were to break those screws aren't gonna hold that rotor in place. Whoever designed that system with those useless screws had a few lose ones in their head. So I put the new rotor on but I put never seize on the screws. Then came another interesting screw up. The clips that hold the pads in place didn't fit. They were just wide enough that they wouldn't fit in and I couldn't bend them. At that point I just said screw it and cleaned up the old ones and reused them. Got the tire back on and let her down and that was as far as I got that day. Not only did it take between 4 1/2 or 5 hours to do the right front but as I was jacking up the car it started to snow........hard. Dropped about 2 inches of snow in less than 45 minutes.Temperature dropped from 43 F to 28 F while I was working on the car. I decided she was going to sit until we got a warmer day. 5 days later it got up to 58 F and sunny so I did the other side. An hour and 15 minutes start to finish. The only hard part was those damn screws again. Oh and the clips. I only had to hit the screwdriver about a dozen times to break each screw lose and this time I didn't break my brand new replacement screwdriver. The funny thing is that I realized that the Kia and my Grand Prix have the same calipers, mounts and rotors. When I took the left front apart I compared everything to the back brakes on the Grand Prix and they were the same The only difference was that I didn't need the screwy inner thingy for the caliper pistons on the Kia. Other than that they were the same. So there's the story of the fu...screwed up Kia and it's wacky owner. LMAO I honestly have no idea where he got the idea that the brakes would be grinding all to sh...poop if the fluid was low. I'm pretty sure I mentioned this Kia in a previous message. He took it in to a shop and had them check the brake fluid and they said it was full. 2 days later he was here and the master cylinder was totally dry. We got lucky on that one. I only had to bleed the lines at the master cylinder and the brakes were fine. That is until he decided that the meat grinder in the master cylinder was ok to drive with. Sometime I jus don understands dem people. So there ya have it. We solved the problems of no brakes on the car and the grinding master cylinder all in one shot. LMAO With that I'm going to say farewell and I'm heading to bed for a couple of hours. It's 8 o'clock and I haven't been to bed yet. Friggin insomnia. Before I go I'm gonna drop a funny in at the bottom. I just can't resist. You take care and stay safe. Until Nexus time, CYA Four friends spend weeks planning the perfect backwoods camping and fishing trip. Two days before the group is to leave, Frank's wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going. Frank's friends are very upset that he can't go but, what can they do... Two days later the three get to the camping site only to find Frank sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and fish cooking on the fire. "Damn man! How long you been here and how did you talk your wife into letting you go?" "Well, I've been here since yesterday. The night before yesterday evening I was sitting in my chair and my wife came up behind and put her hands over my eyes and said 'guess who'?" I pulled her hands off and she was wearing a brand new see through nightie. She took my hand and took me to our bedroom. The room had two dozen candles and rose pedals all over. She had handcuffs and ropes on the bed! She told me to tie and cuff her to the bed and I did. And then she said "Do whatever you want!" "So here I am.”

is there a possibility that you can do a video of how to get the seat heating and cooling modules in the driver seat of a 2017 Infinty QX60. would be much appreciated.

I can sure look into it. It may be a while...I don't plan to start filming until new videos until in the new year. But I can look into it for sure.

Have you ever done a video on replacing the VVT solenoids on the JX35 or QX60? Or a Pathfinder since it's the same engine?

Unfortunately, I haven't made a video on the VVTs at this point. But I do want to make one at some point, but not sure when I'll get a chance

Do you know where they are located on the engine? @@NexusAuto

@whatskevindoing I do, but it's a bit hard to explain. If you're looking at the side of the engine is, where the timing covers are (there will be two covers), there will be one valve at each cover. Kind of near the underside of the covers. I wish I had a better way to explain it. The forward one should be OK to get to, the back one is a bit trickier.

@saidhalym8126 I'm a supporter of aftermarket, and it has served me well for years. But aftermarket exhaust components can be hit and miss..Catalytic Converters and o2 sensors can last just as long as OEM, or sometimes don't even last a year. And then there is the occasional fitment issues. So that said, other than bigger name brands, I don't have any direct recommendations. No easy way to do this job either. You gotta drop the main front pipe to get to the cats and/or o2 sensors. It's not a bad job if everything goes well, but the problem is alot of that stuff rusts up and getting the bolts out is tough, especially without a torch to heat them up

Hello, I have a 2013JX35 with 213000km, couple weeks ago the check engine light went on, so I replaced few things like mass airflow sensor, spark plug, air filter, and code gone. But this week, the check engine light came back, I replace the gas cap with new one, the light still there. Anyone know what's going on? So annoying and frustrating. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, without knowing what the code is, there is no way to diagnose or give advice. a Check Engine Light can mean one of hundreds of things on a vehicle. That is very annoying for sure...I hear you.
