While selecting the option please select Birth Certificate with Parental Information. You won’t be allowed to apply for a passport with just a Birth Certificate which has no parental information. Thanks!

Hi Tiffany I had filled the form which I have shown in the video. At the time of filling you get option for long form and birth certificate and pay the fees accordingly. Hope this helps

Omar it's been sometime since I had applied. I think it took 3-4 weeks for the physical copy of birth certificate to come. For passport it was less then 2 weeks however getting appointment might be tricky as well as getting newborn photo

Hi the usual practice is to leave blank if it is not allowed I would suggest a call to service Canada they will help with this

Does it take more time in the hospital than doing it online? Is there an expedite process? I only have 45 days maternity leave and I had to do birth registration, birth certificate and passport in that period of time :(

I might be wrong but we were told that hospital does not do online submissions and the process takes time. Doing online I got instant download and certificate arrived within few days. For passport you will have to do walk-in which you can plan any day afterwards. Within 45 days it is possible

Hi Amka, In your case you since you already have 2 children. Your answer would be yes and include 2 children details where asked(This is for official record). Liveborn = Alive and Stillborn=loss of a baby before or during delivery. Hope this makes sense.

@@aliahmedamina section D has following section and based on what you said that you have 3 children including this new born, hope you have entered following info. Total number of children ever born to this parent including this birth - 3 Of this Total, Number born live - 3 Of this Total, Number stillborn - 0 If you still get error can you please call helpline (1-800-461-2156) and check what this error is. They will connect to the right place. Hope this helps

Hi Manjinder thank you for asking this question. Without a doubt you must mention both parents name (if you want to) as option is with you. It has nothing to do with father being present for birth or not. Hope this helps

In some cultures, people have a second name, called a middle name, in addition to their first and last or surname name. It's a matter of choice and tradition. In your case,’Avneet' will be the first name, 'Kaur' as the middle name, and 'Gill' as the Surname name. On form it should be Second name or Middle name. If it has both then use Kaur as middle name. Hi Sir, Many thanks for such an informative video. I want to confirm few points and my understanding regarding child birth registration. My scenario is that very soon I am going to have a newborn baby in Canada. Most probably next year I will go back to India and there is no plan to come back again in future. So I am planning to acquire Indian passport for the newborn instead of Canadian passport. I saw that there are many restrictions in India for NRI/OCI holders w.r.t. study and job, so not willing to go into that way. So after checking your various videos regarding this I understood below:- 1. I have to acquire child birth certificate from Canada. 2. I have to apply for Child birth in Indian consulate website to get Indian Birth certificate. 3. I have to apply for Indian passport based on Indian birth certificate. Please let me know if my understanding is correct and this total process how long it is going to take. Thanks a lot in advance..

Hi Yes after baby is born you can initiate this thorough consulate within 1 year. The process is easy and direct to get Indian citizenship. You cannot hold any other country passport in that case( here I mean your child) . With regards to OCI there are no big restrictions except voting rights, agricultural land buying and joining government jobs. The choice is however yours and I am glad there is no confusion in your mind. All the best

Really glad to inform you that I have been blessed with a baby boy. Just one more thing to understand for both Indian birth registration and passport application I see physical presence is required. In that case is it possible to make one presence for both the application? In some KZread videos people are saying that it is possible but procedure I could not get hold of. @Abhisekfortabla you can Inform the Indian consulate in Canada that you would like to register for birth as Indian and give undertaking with this effect. Once you do that you will be Issued India birth certificate with which you will be able to get India passport. The process is simple and direct.
