New Traxxas BL-2s vs. Titan 12T motor XL-5 esc weights speed Temperature Slash 4-Tec 2.0
I took a 4-Tec 2.0 and a Slash 4x4. I ran them and took their drag time using a SkyRC GSM020 and top speed using a SkyRC GSM-015. The 4-tec 2.0 did four passes with 3 recorded and the Slash did three passes with three redored for each system.
The 4-Tec 2.0 Titan 12T I have came with a stock 21T pinion and optional 25T speed pinion. The new 4-Tec 2.0 with BL-2s comes with a 29T pinion stock. I swapped a 28T pinion, because I doubted the Titan could handle the heat. The results are interesting.

i club race a mud boss 12t vs bl2s, 12t is the faster motor, lot of guys also get the 12t sent off to a place that does something to them, after no mater what gearing the brushless lags behind, the wiring on the brushless is garbage, there is no way to fix fraid or worn wires, copetivly the 12t wins, more rpm, better more robust wiring, and power is more linear, brushless you have to gear up to get the same output, heavy, and torque and rpm ranges are all over, sometimes you get good punch and then sometimes you get to much till traxxas fixes the brushless club racers are going to stick to 12t motor

I did a few tests with the BL-2s and also took one apart. If you have a chance, consider watching: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kZej1MyDoNfbo7A.html where I take it apart. To your response, I do not think club races will replace the 12T anytime soon unless Traxxas discontinues it. One cannot beat a $26 motor replacement. For the money, the 12T does give a lot of performance for $27. Do you know what they do to the 12T motors? I wonder if they open them and mess with the timing. That use to be the only difference with some Tamiya motors.

@@telecomandorc im not sure what they do to the motors they dont open them up or anything like that, i break my motors in and prep them to race, but its outside what a normal person would do to a new 12t

in all fairness traxxas has made 2 systems that are money pits, both not fixable and pore quality, bl-2s and 12 turn i can not run any other 12 turn brush motor and i can not run any other brushless motor there are tones of 3300 kv motors out there and just the same on brushed , but still another catch is, you seem to only be able to race there platform, just about all the raceable classes, comparable cheaper platforms are not allowed, this greatly diminishes the hobby and the club racing

@@bigfoot3387 Here you have a very good point. I say this because Arrma has some really good deals from time to time but no one seems to have a class for them. MAybe it is part of the contract when becoming a Traxxas dealer. There could be some exclusivity clause.
