New T-55 From Tamiya Gets A Rebar Cage Armor Upgrade! (1/48 Scale)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My friends, tonight we'll build the new 1/48 armor kit from Tamiya - the famous T-55. A kit that not only lends itself to some simple improvements but also countless interesting, often field-made modifications such as a rebar cage around the turret filled with sandbags and bricks acting as spaced armor!

It all depends on your own definition of "over the top". Someone with real talent and skills can do whatever they like and call it simple for themselves. I was watching with a friend, and the moment that the turret was turned over, we both just went 😲😲😲 wow!!!

These Syrian "tanks" are my true hobby! I have GBs of photos of this kind of "modifications" of the old Soviet beasts. Uparmoring with suspension leaf springs from trucks, concrete blocks, sandbags, pavement plates, or just rubble tossed to such baskets - love it all. Their T-62M looks like it was patched with pieces of steel. :D

Hell yeah! Been waiting for this one! Also, I'm really jealous that the smaller scale one has those tracks and the to-scale guide for assembling the tracks. The 1/35 I'm working on had rubber tracks which are fine, but I grabbed some aftermarket ones from Miniart that click together, and I tried gluing them all together at once and bending them around the wheels without much luck. Now I'm going to try and go back and re-assemble them in smaller sections that I can then glue together.

  • @NightShiftScaleModels

Maybe you left the glue set for too long? 5-10 minutes is usually enough if you use quick setting cement, you can also try it by feel. If the track is flexible but it doesn't fall apart if you manipulate it, it's the best time to wrap it around the running gear.

  • @aaronwhite1786
