New T-55 From Tamiya Gets A Rebar Cage Armor Upgrade! (1/48 Scale)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
My friends, tonight we'll build the new 1/48 armor kit from Tamiya - the famous T-55. A kit that not only lends itself to some simple improvements but also countless interesting, often field-made modifications such as a rebar cage around the turret filled with sandbags and bricks acting as spaced armor!

"I didn't want to go over the top with detailing on this model" - Adds custom made rebar, a cage from the rebar, hand made sandbags, 3D printed bricks, missing bolts, etc, etc, etc.

@@NightShiftScaleModels If you say so. Even still, your work incorporates the most minuscule details and you make it look so easy. But then, that's the hallmark of a true master of their craft. The time-lapse bit with the road wheel prep really helped to put things into perspective.

It all depends on your own definition of "over the top". Someone with real talent and skills can do whatever they like and call it simple for themselves. I was watching with a friend, and the moment that the turret was turned over, we both just went 😲😲😲 wow!!!

I’ve been modeling for 50 years and still learn new techniques from clever people like you. Thanks for your video!
I always like the T-55's aesthetics. The rounded turret, the fuel drums on the tank bed and the IR spotlight so cool.

OH MY SELF. That trick with the tracks blowed my mind. Thank you for showing that, I'm really happy now. I won't suffer anyomore with those

Bro... That T55 is cash money. I LOVE the rebar armor
IT'S FRIDAY AGAIN! Time for uncle Nightshift!
This channel deserves more subscriptions
Your attention to details that tell a story on their own is still unchallenged in my opinion! Great video.
its always a good day when Uncle Night Shift uploads
Dude, that T-55 tank look amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the armor and cast texture on it.
I was just trying to find a good video on the T55! great timing
Are you kidding me dude! You elevate the bar so much ....WOW
Watching you straighten the coiled wire was in fact, magical, and that rebar cage is stellar! Fantastic start, Martin!
You know it’s Friday when you hear “My friends”
I don't make models but, I love watching your show.
T-55 + uncle nightshift = excitement
Best part of Friday.
I am just now starting to paint my 1/48 scale ez 8, with concrete armor. Love your work, keep on making amazing models.

It makes the process really quick, you just need to be more careful when painting the rubber parts.
The cage rebar (and everything else really) looks great.
Just started a field moddified t72 from syria this week, so this videos comes perfectly handy for me, thanks a lot!
Those printed light guards are great! Edit: and my condolences on the loss of the rebar caged T72. 😭
The fact that u can make such cool models with modifications and so many extra things and still making it cool looking while I am very careful and I still mess it up sometimes makes me irrationally angry lmao

...bonkers Martin! Just bonkers!!! Maddest detail yet! Simply awesome......
I guess buying Tamiya kits can be it’s own hobby! This looks terrific, I can’t wait to see all of the hardcore weathering in the coming weeks!
The cage is lovely unbelivable
Wow, impressive & ressourceful tecniques to improve the model . Well done. Waiting to see the T-55 finished. Thank you
These Syrian "tanks" are my true hobby! I have GBs of photos of this kind of "modifications" of the old Soviet beasts. Uparmoring with suspension leaf springs from trucks, concrete blocks, sandbags, pavement plates, or just rubble tossed to such baskets - love it all. Their T-62M looks like it was patched with pieces of steel. :D
I seriously get more enjoyment watching this guy build and paint models then I do myself. A treasure trove of information this channel is accumulating that’s for sure!!
Heck yea ! 1/48 scale !
Watched this video two times. Amazing work.
I'm so happy to see this, the T-55 is my favorite tank!
Very nice effects. Looks like real rebar.
Searching for a 1/48 T55 now.. no more kits I said.. oh well! Great video, really enjoyed this weeks one - lots of great ideas! Cheers
This is one of my favourite tank's! 😀👍
So much more complicated... so much more worth it
Why am I even here? I've never been into modelling. Watched till the end, tho)))
Oh wow that looks awesome
After hard physics exam there nothing better, to get new tiger from post and find new uncle's video! Thats gonna be cool

Hi, I come from Poland. I'm your big fan. I love seeing your work, and how nice a commentator. Warm regards, Tomasz Ps. great job
Gotta love some good undegateing
Nice video with loads of detail .Like it very much.
This is awesome. The t-55 is a brilliant tank for modelers There is so much license to do what ever you want to them. One of the few tanks that fights everything and everyone.... including itself.
This just speaks quality and cool
Tamiya kits are so good, just put a bottle of glue in the box, shake it and the model is ready for painting!
Bad neighbor hood treatment.....luv ya
Had a rough day today but just seeing the thumbnail made feel good again. Thanks again for your awesome videos!
THANKS FOR THE TANKS FROM SCOTLAND CHEERS .
Looking forward to this one
Next one! Amazing, great Job Martin
The modelling god has posted again
I am so happy that you did this because I wanted to do the exact same thing to a Tamiya T-72 M1. Heavy field modification and stuff because I have this idea of a Warhammer 40k army using "ancient relics" in their salvaged army.

This was the third model I ever made, and it’s very funny that I’m doing a rework of it now when you put this video out.
This is fantastic. The T-55 a is one of the best modeling subjects due to the almost infinite customizations and variants that are out there. Some still in service TODAY!
Love the 1/48 scale as well. Tamiya makes the best detailed models there is. Pricey models but u always get what u pay for. I havent been disappointed yet. 29yrs doing models so yes there the best.
Yesssss..........a Cold War Tank..........thx always for your videos!!!

How to make a good kit EPIC!
COOL VIDEO, also you got me into modeling congrats.
not tried putty for welds yet...been using stretched sprue soaked in cement then when tacky fit, then use thin blade etc to make the weld effects...nice job Martin.
Great job! I was actually looking forward to seeing something like this from you!
Super detailed job!
I am so stoked for this build!
will be a good tutorial for those who like to glue everything after painting, great work.
Awesome! Love the handmade details and can't wait to see the painting video!
Wonderful video and great tips! Always a pleasure to watch ^^ thank you!
The Mad max tank!
Hell yeah! Been waiting for this one! Also, I'm really jealous that the smaller scale one has those tracks and the to-scale guide for assembling the tracks. The 1/35 I'm working on had rubber tracks which are fine, but I grabbed some aftermarket ones from Miniart that click together, and I tried gluing them all together at once and bending them around the wheels without much luck. Now I'm going to try and go back and re-assemble them in smaller sections that I can then glue together.
@NightShiftScaleModels
3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you left the glue set for too long? 5-10 minutes is usually enough if you use quick setting cement, you can also try it by feel. If the track is flexible but it doesn't fall apart if you manipulate it, it's the best time to wrap it around the running gear.
@aaronwhite1786
3 жыл бұрын
@@NightShiftScaleModels Yeah, I think it was a combination of too much glue in parts, and too little in others. Turned it into a link of track that just broke apart in places, and wouldn't bend in others.
🤩 This will be a awesome kit 🤩
After seeing this video I feel like making a building model! Only my end result is not so good 😬 Great video 👍
Amazing workflow.
Hi Martin, that was absolutely fantastic, all I can say is getting so we can see the T55 finished, keep safe and well mate.
Another masterpiece in the making
Oh new tonk video i love tonks
This was amazing to watch. I had an Abrams M1A4 model when I was 15 and it was my first and last model. Came out poorly because my guesstimate was always more cement than needed and it came out to the say at the least rough. Amazing to watch. Thank you!
I wanna thank you once again for having started to add captions to your newer vids. My defective ears appreciate it a heck lot.

Courtesy of KZread, they finally added a better function. Originally you had to manually write each caption and sync it or just rely on automatic captions. Now you can copy-paste your entire script into the app and it will sync it automatically :)
