Just recently I paid off all my student loans. It took me almost 5 years but I did it. Chains are off! What I learned during this process is that you can't rely on the government. Perhaps in the future, things will get better but I can't wait for that. Because who knows when that time will come. I also gained some new skills during this process including budgeting. It also increased my skills in cooking. I think patience and being mindful of money habits will help us all get through this.

I cash flowed mine with a monthly payment plan combined with some graduate scholarships, it’s doable!

I'm currently on the SAVE plan, I don't have any payment due so I'm saving that money in a HYSA (I average out about $60 extra a month by having it sit in there), so when December roll around I could make a lumpsum payment. I'm halfway there and ahead of schedule and could make a payment by my birthday, which is in October.

My lowest loan is now at $60. However, my highest loan is under $6,900. Eleven loans I am paying. With book sales, I want to be able to pay them off. Still working on it though.

Housing market is going nuts around me. So many new construction homes being built. 3 bed/2 bath 1400-1700sq ft "starter homes" for $375k-$450k. Yes the descriptions even say "starter home". We are in the Midwest so it's just insane because the lot sizes are tiny patches of grass. So now everyone else is raising their price because they have bigger homes and more land...these houses are changing to contingent in the first 24 hours. I drove by an open house with lots of cars outside so many it was causing a traffic jam as people were slowing down to find parking. So glad I'm not in that mess but it's quite shocking

Starter homes where I am in canada are 900k. Trudeau immigration policy are to blame 33 % increase in population in 10 years. Young people are losing hope. Yet the young don't connect the dots back to liberal policies for their pain. So dumb !!!

Congratulations to you being an amazing sister for helping out. I just entered into the save plan and it only saved me $30.00. I still pay a nice car note for all 3 of my loans. I just laughed. Anyway I just found out that you have to resubmit your PSLF annually. Another joke. I’ve been paying on my student loans for 19 years and short 40 payments they haven’t certified for PSLF yet. Wish me luck, I’m submitting paperwork again. Oh and if by any chance I get Fed loans forgiveness it will be a miracle. I still have to pay off my cash loans and Sallie.

Look into some free community SAT prep. I did mine through the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and it was held at our local Catholic Church. I'm not Catholic but some of my friends growing up were and they told me about all the free activities the church was holding like acting class and a youth group.

I have $60k+ in federal student loans (undergrad and part of grad school), am disabled, and even when I was working part-time (can’t cope with full-time bc of disabilities), my income-based repayment plan was $0/mo. 🙃 I would’ve gotten forgiveness but alas it didn’t pass. Isn’t it so bizarre that I can be on $0/mo for 8 years due to my limited income yet the loan still remains and interest continues to increase? Wild. Our country is messed up, you’re right. I didn’t know the SAVE Plan helped stop interest. I gotta watch your other video on it bc I figured IBR was still best for me even though both were $0/mo.

I’m trying to stay positive about paying off my student loans (currently have $2,700 left) and not being overwhelmed of dual earning households fighting to get a home. I’m over here ready to get out of debt and try to start saving!

This has stopped me in my tracks from even considering finishing… the plan was to wait until my child was out of high school and more independent, but now I’m cringing at how much she’s going to need because she chose an out of state private university. So, I’ll pump the brakes on me so that I can start her repayments for her while she’s still in undergrad. Things I wish someone could’ve or would’ve considered for me… but she will NOT be saddled down with that predatory interest like I was.

Thank you so much for the great info. I could relate to so much. I'm also an older sister and my brother is graduation college next month. I had about 54K in loans after I graduated most of it was honestly to cover room and board, went to a state school so tuition was mostly covered by grant and crazy interests. I always paid a bit more than my required payment amounts and made big payments during the pandemic. I had 26k left hoping that the student loan forgiveness of 20k would come about. I haven't decided on a plan yet but am thinking about consolidating. I also live in NYC and got a rent stabilized apartment but recently the landlord told me they would not renew my lease as they need it for a family who has an emergency but since they did not give me 90 days notice and after doing some due diligence I found that they filed last year that my apt was vacant and I was living there and paying them rent so I may see a housing attorney

Your girl came across some luck recently. My job has decided to pay us the money they've been "saving" for us for the last three years, all three percent of it, later this month. I will be sending that, obviously taxed, money to my student loans. Ive also decided to get a side hustle am hoping becomes my full time hustle (despite the taxes and having to pay for my own health care 😒) in another year because if am going to complain about getting no increases every year i might as well see the boss in the mirror everyday. Also, raise the roof for my co-op which bans us from subletting. Am sure some of you from Kentucky would buy a castle with my mortgage but my box in yhe sky that's affordable at my income is a goldmine for my budget.

I started making student loan payments in October. I had 61k in loans to pay. After making 6 months of payments, u now owe 62k 😂😂😂 this shit is a depressing ass uphill battle!!

I don’t think President Biden’s Plan B proposal to eliminate past interest is going to work. However, I do think the SAVE plan will remain in place. The SAVE plan, or a similarly designed plan, should’ve been implemented years ago to stop accumulating interest. Even if the so-called tax bomb on loan forgiveness is reimplemented after 2025, the financial security the SAVE plan offers will still be very beneficial for many.

Hi Stephanie! Can you create a video surrounded around a zero N-word policy in public (non black) schools. Can a school that platforms systemic racism really teach Black kids about self worth? My school district has had issues with racist teachers and making Black kids feel less than seen or cared for. Now, with the assistance of the boogie Black advisory board, of which I have been a long standing member, they would like to single out the N-word to create a no N word policy. I suggested a more inclusive route of a no “bad word” policy and/or, a self worth campaign. But the black advisory board and the district want to be very direct in tackling the word itself. My issue is it will single out black students and in turn, further make them feel marginalized. Not to mention if the culture says making the word less offensive is their revolution, allowing the district to single them out while not addressing their own racist tendencies feels wrong. Please help!
