There aren't. Most channels make a video AFTER the payoff to humble brag. I'm in the student loan trenches with you Stephanie and I'd prefer more real-time updates and encouragement. Not the question that was asked, but I watch Fun and Budget with Tinesha Davis' mortgage payoff. My student loan balance is as much as her mortgage, so it tracks lol.

A bit of good news!! Officially paid off my student loans on 6/21/24 🎉🎉🎉 It’s honestly still surreal but I’m grateful to have this behind me. Now I can continue to save and invest in peace. I shared the same sentiment that I wanted student loans to be gone before marriage. (I’m not engaged yet). For those still paying and/or waiting for forgiveness, keep hope alive ✊🏾 Congratulations on your engagement! All the best to you and your future hubby on this new journey 🥂🎊

grapes are cheaper($1.99 a pound) now than they were in 2023 ($10.00 a pound). 🤣🤣

Congratulations 🎉on your upcoming marriage! I paid about $2000 for my wedding, maybe almost $3000 with the honeymoon; I wasn't about to do any more. I'm super frugal. The key is not saying the word wedding when buying stuff, that makes everything quadruple the price. And be creative! Some people have said that they enjoyed my wedding more than my sister's $24000 wedding, so price isn't everything.

It's so true! That once you say "wedding" the increase the price exponentially. It's predatory honestly.

I started paying on my 72k of student loans in October. One thing I did was not change my payment plan. I'm on the standard 10 year plan and I just make my minimum payment each month and don't look at it. I was shocked a while ago when I realized my balance had gone down by 5k. These video updates are great but if I checked my loans every month I'd get angry every month seeing how much money goes to interest.

Same here, the amount interest takes is infuriating.

It’s very frustrating how we’re after paying all of these debt, we still owe so much. I’m on the same spot as you sis, trying to pay over 300k in 8 years. Still have around 200k 😭😭😭 This series definitely helped me, so please continue with the update!

Welcome back! I was able to finish off paying my loans in May! I should say that my loans were considerably less than yours, but your videos have motivated me since 2021, when I started paying them back.

Hello. Congratulations! So happy to hear about the upcoming wedding. I went to South Africa in February and loved every minute of it. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. I finally made it under 6 figures. Still looking at 5 more years until I’m student loan free.

One of my favorite movies about Aparteid is Cry Freedom, it was my first intro to Denzel. Back in the early '80s, I actually new someone from SA (white) who told me that Black people in the US were actually different than those in SA and that is why they had to be treated in that way. I was completely flabbergasted.

Congrats on your engagement!! Your earrings are always so cute! I paid off my loans a couple months ago (thank goodness)! It felt like a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders. For everyone still paying their loans, keep going! It’ll feel amazing once you’re out of debt.

Congratulations on all that you are doing. I don't think you will have to go back to corporate. Just don't panic. You are meant to do this. And with the Complexion of Law series coming up you will be adding all those media skills to your arsenal. You know how I feel about those student loans. @WinenChill I have been paying off my student loans since 2014. Ten years now this June. During covid and because of the stimulus checks, I managed to pay off 2 of 13 loans. Just this month, I paid off another. I have ten more to go to pay off to be student loan debt free.

I call where you are the sticky middle. When I hit ~50% I felt the slog and feeling over it. I agree with you... find inspiration to help you keep pushing through! you got it babe AND congratulations to you and your love I'm going to say something potentially controversial... There is no shame in going back to corporate for a short time to push through. I'm considering it myself just to get these damn loans out my hair. I think it will hit different if you have an exit plan and a larger goal that you're going for. It's not like before when you were just a cog in the machine. You have bigger aspirations! Think about how much peace you will have once those damn loans are paid and you've got a little cushion in the bank. You'll be able to content create on your own terms without that noose around your neck. Good luck to you and all the others who are working for freedom!

I feel you. I've been steadily overpaying my student loans by rote, monthly. I increased my spending a bit to pay for interests outside of work, because I can't just let my life be about paying off student loans. For me, it was the gym with a pool because I'm learning how to swim. The loans are fine, especially since I'm prioritizing paying down the unsubsidized loans with the highest interest rate, so my payoff is as optimized as it can be without me losing my mind 😂 Life is too short to let those loans run my life.

Like you, undergrad & law school had me in debt to the tune of $300,000. I had to file Ch. 13 bk in 2014. Bk was discharged Feb 2020. Navient allowed me to settle $88k in private loans for $4.5k. Currently owe $212k. 😢 I enrolled in the SAVE program, and now I'm hopeful my balance will be forgiven.

As a Wedding Planner (and Law School Financial Aid Admin 🤫) I’d love to help you with anything if you do a Wedding industry racket video. 😂😩 Also I’m a Covid bride and FINALLY having our wedding reception in August. Budget $10k I know some tips and tricks but these prices are crazy!!

I only have a couple thousand dollars left and I'm still OVER IT. I worked two jobs throughout college to try to avoid loans but I ended up having to take out loans anyways. I will NAWT go back to working in an office though. Every time I stepped into my office I felt like my life was worthless. I love being a full time artist. It's so hard and I panic every 30 business days but I feel so alive when I create. I'm gon stick beside my mommy and daddy since I will eventually become their care giver. Multigenerational households is nothing new so I accept that this is my new reality

Regarding debt repayment, have followed you, Dear debt (paid off most everything last year), personal finance with Leila, debt over it (she’s close to finishing up too). Also follow Aja Dang. I always enjoy seeing your updates though 😊 I thought I was going to sprint and pay off my nearly 200k in ~ 5 years after school. However, I’m at 4 years and still just under 80k. Then realized that my employer actually does qualify for PSLF, so taking advantage of minimum payments for this year while purchasing a house, then gonna figure out if paying the rest of the 10 yr PLSF vs continue to pay off early will make more sense 🙈

Just a thought here. I love your content. I watched more when i was getting out of debt and paing off student loans. I didnt have as much as you but i followed dave ramsey. I paid my student loans off officially jan. Just one observation, i probably would have stayed a lawyer until your loans were paid off. Intentionally leaving high income before loans were paid off means you'll pay longer. Maybe lawyer part time or as a side gig.

Congratulations to you and your fiancée! I can relate to being the oldest, the example and the helper. Also, grapes are a staple fruit in our household so it’d be nice if they weren’t so darn costly. I’m glad you enjoyed South Africa, and loved your looks.

Been awhile since I've updated my journey. My balance is 31k, and I'm currently on track to paying off my Parent Plus Loan (PPL) by the end of December. It feels good to know I can take a burden off my mom because she was the saving grace for paying for my education. Once I'm done with my PPL, I'm trying to figure do I want to continue the fast track of paying the rest of my loans or take a break and pay the minimum.

Do something reasonable but nice for yourself once you finish you PPL then get back to it... if you break it will be SO MUCH more difficult to get the motivation to start back... PUSH THROUGH! You've got it!

I went to Kwa Zulu Natal (Durban), Eastern Cape (Gqeberha & safari/the bush), Western Cape (Capetown), Gauteng (Johannesburg) and for those regions I didn't need any specific vaccinations. If you're doing safari in Krueger National Park I'd check just in case. I didn't go there so I'm not sure what their recommendations are. I think the tourism board website should also have a suggested list of areas where you might want to take malaria pills.

I finished paying off my $45,614 in student loans on 6/11/24 🎉 I can finally close this chapter in my life. Girl I understand the burn out with having to pay off the student loans. And I also have watched, read and listened to others in the same boat especially during the 0% interest pause. It’s a marathon getting to the other side!

The people who are "loans who?" while spending $$$$$ on lifestyle astound me. This is why I am not for total loan forgiveness (which isn't happening anyway.) I am obviously a horse person. I waited until I paid off my $160K in law school debt to start riding. And I still ride on the cheap bc I'm trying to retire on the earlier side. I know so many people with loans who show every weekend, buy the most expensive tack etc. It makes me crazy. ETA: Eric Holder! Girrrrrrrrl!!!

So are the strawberries so that's my excuse for why am putting a bunch into this glass of bourbon. As for my loans, they still there too. I haven't paid a thing since April when I got my 3k cola in a lump sum. Well, no. What they did was increase my annual salary amount for one check instead of cutting a separate check so this ended up pushing me into the next tax bracket so what I got wasn't even half of the 3k. I mean, my loans didn't even get half of the 3k 🤷. Better luck next time 😒

Surprisingly I got the tan last week in Alabama & on the rooftops of NYC 😂 It's late spring/early winter in SA so I can back with only a light tan.
