New Lancet Study: Early COVID Treatment Prevented Clinical Deterioration

New Lancet Study: Early COVID Treatment Prevented Clinical Deterioration
In this study from Lancet the researchers show a combination of drugs when started within 48 hours of mild COVID infection the likelihood of clinical deterioration is reduced significantly. Researchers write in their interpretation:
Interpretation
Early treatment with these combinations among outpatients diagnosed with COVID-19 was associated with lower likelihood of clinical deterioration, and with significant and rapid reduction in the viral load and serum cytokines, and with lower burden of PASC symptoms. When started very soon after symptom onset, these repurposed drugs have high potential to prevent clinical deterioration and death in vaccinated and unvaccinated COVID-19 patients.

I have taken Ivermectin immediately after getting infected as per the protocol given by FLCC . The load of the virus was pretty high in me with RTPCR value of 14. I hardly experienced any serious symptoms except a fever of 102 degrees on day 1 and 100 degrees on day 2 and completely normal on day 3. My saturation did not fall below 95% even after taking a brisk walk in my room and then measuring it. I should thank my doctor friend who was pulmonologist and has already attended more than 1000 COVID 19 patients before me has guided me to effectively follow the protocol of FLCC.

Part of the the rationale I gave was that "drugs in combination" were demonstrated in the literature as effective. The local paper would not print my letter even though there was an invitation to discuss vaccine hesitancy. I shall re-visit this issue with the local paper, and include this lancet study. The data presented on page 8 of the study indicates approximately 50% of patients randomised to the treatment arms withdrew from the study before completion of the study. This is in stark contrast to standard care, where virtually no one withdrew from the study. Standard care appears to have included Favipiravir, possibly Lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r), or Remdesivir. To me this observation indicates potential side effects in the treatment arms may have significantly biased the treatment arm results compared to the standard care arm.

It should not be assumed they 'recovered early' as the patients who remained in the study did. Reading back my own comment actually it should also not be assumed the withdrawal was 'potential side effects', we simply are not given any data on these patients. I think the biggest issue is did the patients withdraw because they 'felt unwell' and hence went on to undertake 'standard care'? Addition The authors note - ‘Furthermore, some participants in the treatment arms withdrew from the study for unknown reasons, possibly influenced by the open-label nature of the study.’

The real culprits were the pharmaceutical companies who claimed there was no method of treatment (Merck refused to fund a study of ivermectin); then the naiive (or corrupt) FDA chose to agree with them and declare we had to await vaccines. Doctors and pharmacists were then restricted (jobs threatened) and unable to prescribe treatments that only the most intelligent of them believed would work. Nurses don't have a lot of pull, especially when their unions side with the FDA.

Doctors have no authority in healthcare and haven't for many years...they have to listen to the government guidelines and can risk losing their license/jail if they don't practice what is set by the government (who are mostly influenced by pharma/political agenda). So the only options are to stay and do your best with what you have, or leave and know no one will be helped

Thank you Dr Mobeen for bringing this study to our attention. Am I correct in thinking that this study protocol can be replicated in outpatient situations or GP practices as a treatment? And in terms of the “ongoing situation” taking into account the plethora of mutations, is the protocol affected by such or will it still apply?

The study covered mid 2021 to mid 2022, so we're talking Delta followed by early Omicron variants in the 2nd half, which is when cytokine storm issues fell right off. And it's only coming out in 2024 when the treatment isn't really needed anymore. Still interesting though.

Did we know at what tissue temperature did SARS COV2 better replicate ? Why ? Because at TWiV Nr 659 at min29 Christian Drosten suggest that SARS COV2 better replicate at very low tissue temperature. Theoretically, higher mucouseal respiratory temperature ,even fever can decrease SARS COV2 replication.

Thank you for pointing out this study. It is very interesting--and encouraging. A question I have about the deaths (or lack thereof--a good thing) is what the rate of death in Thailand in general was? It is possible that Covid deaths in general might be lower in Thailand than in the USA because of the hotter, sunnier climate, which could impact the patients exposure to infra-red and their blood levels of things like Vitamin D. It would be good if the study could be repeated in the USA--or if doctors in the US could simply prescribe these combos to their patients instead of this over-reliance on Paxlovid, which doesn't seem to make any difference in disease progression of vaccinated individuals and also has a lot of dangerous drug interactions.

A day late and a dollar short. That's there modus operandi. They commit the crime then after the fact hire people to act like they saved the day and make money off of that too. It's like a firefighter coming after the house already burned down and people suffered. The question is what are they up to right now? During pandemic I only listened to a few who were sincere in telling the truth and giving the truth at the right time. Dr. Mobeen Syed were one of the honorable ones. And also Dr. Shiva Ayadurai.

But when I got symptoms I started Ivermectin ( thank goodness I had already bought the tablets) I was very sick, my O2 hit the 80's but I knew If I went to the hospital I would have been intubated and would have died...like so many others.
