That's gonna be tight in the RanchTang. I'm stuffing an LT1/L83 in a 37 CHev PU. I've got plenty of height but it barely fits width wise and I'm probably going to have to modify the firewall to get it to fit. It's so tight that there's no room for the ECM in the engine compartment.

My dad once drove a 6.0 powerstroke. It was rebuilt and bulletproofed at 100,000 miles. Went on to be the toughest little truck the ranch had. Drove just fine for 200,000 miles until my dad accidentally put gas in it and drove it until it stopped. They got the gas out of it and primed it and when he left that ranch he was working for (the ranch owned it) it was still doing pretty good. I don’t know what that 6.0 was made of but it wasn’t what all the others are made out of.

  • @Maxid1

If I'd known you were looking for a 6.0 I could have sold you mine. 2006 F450. I've already spent the $20K to fix the egr and the ficm, oil cooler, head gaskets and studs, I upgraded the alternator and best thing, it's only got 70,000 original miles on it. On the negative side, it's in California. But you're right, it's one of the most hated engines, even amoung it's owners. But I have to admit, after spending an additional $20K on top of the vehicle price, it runs really good...

6.0 and 6.4 were both International Engines, not Ford. They have the same possible issues. Head gaskets, oil cooler clogging, etc.If you bulletproof either, they're million mile engines. Now that I have a stock 2020 CC LB 10 speed duramax, that 6.0 doesn't seem so quick. Then again, 445hp and 910 ft. lbs is a nice upgrade being a stock engine. The problems the 6.slow have were mostly addressed by Ford and powerstroke in 2004.5 and newer. The only other issue it really has is there is no redundancy built into the head studs. Keep it stock and it's fine. Putting a tuner on it or running a bigger turbo is when you'll see the issues. I love my 6.slow.
