Then figure out how those spider gears were spinning and only weld the side of the gears that's going to pinch the weld, not pull the weld apart. You'll keep a lot of the strength of the gears by not melting to much of them. That's a little trick that demolition derby guys that I know do up here in Michigan and it really helps

Hey Matt, love the Impala. I own a '64 Bel Air Sedan which is very similar to your car. My car was originally bought by my great-grandfather when it was brand new and has been in my family ever since. I'm actually making the car roadworthy after sitting for 30+ years and upgrading to a big block, 454. Anyway, I just want to point out something that may have already been addressed, but I noticed the impala has a single chamber brake master cylinder. For a burnout car especially, I would recommend upgrading to a dual-chamber master cylinder (this is what modern cars have today) as when you lose a brake line or have a leak in the system, you lose the entire brakes which is obviously not good lol. You should be able to upgrade to a dual style master cylinder from a newer impala ('67 and up I believe) and it should bolt right in. Aftermarket companies also include this style master cylinder with a disc brake conversion kit, which I see you have already upgraded to discs so maybe you haven't installed the master cylinder yet. If not, I believe the master cylinder can be bought separately. Anyway, that's just my two cents. Best of luck with the build and the burnout competition!

Cleetus did say in his video that it isn't actually Freedom Factory grass. It's just the same strain grass, and it's from the same supplier that he gets his.

I have welded a few rear ends, problem is the gears are very hard and the welds can snap under pressure, (if gears were soft it would work better) anyway putting a spacer in there and welding to more surface area works better

gravel will go a ways and you can do more landscaping - take out some trees and plant some trees - you have some serious dirt moving at house but that will get done and you will have grass - grade it out so you have a good space for sports - whiffleball, light pot smoking - you need the forage strips, ranges and native strips

I thought welding it like that was a good idea once too. Turned out the welding made the gears very brittle and they broke quickly. If I ever do it again I would weld a side gear all the way around to the carrier. And you'd have to use a stick welder and special gas since it is cast iron.
