The idea was to include common people in politics, but politicians understood that the complicated class analysis wasn't gonna get those common people to vote for them because it was too hard to comprehend, so they turned the other way and started grifting identity politics (mainly nationality) while validating existing prejudices of marginilized people. Way more comprehensible and emotion inducing to get people moving.

Why on earth would you use the spelling with a single m of mamma, which would refer to the gallo-italic languages (+ the northeastern Italian language families if you don't count them as gallo-italic) if you then go on to mock the restrictive phonotactics about word-final consonants associated to Italo-romance languages such as Italian, in the same sentence, as if those two things came from the same accent?

These people despise the 25th of April, the day of the Liberation from Fascism, and they always say that they they only celebrate a Saint. They hate the day of the republic (2nd June). They made commercials that aired on TV in 1989 where they said after the fall of the wall of Berlin, that there was a wall in Italy as well, and that that wall was the party system and we should all go back to ONE PARTY. This is majorly fucked up. And as an Italian and trans person? We are fucked up. I fear for my future and I fucking hope this government is gonna fall asap just like all the others that came before, since we're specialists in that.

I don't think theres anything inherently wrong with the idea of a family either. Its a very natural and human desire to belong to a family/tribe/community/whatever company. In general people with a tight knit community tend to fair better in life because of that stability through statistics as well. Are families perfect? No you can be in an abusive or oppressive family where you're better off leaving but for many many people family is a natural and desirable idea

As an Italian, i found terribly sad the fact that apparently nobody notice the fact that literaly the party of Giorgia Meloni is the direct heir of the fascist party. When she was a student she was part of the MSI (Movimento sociale Italiano) (social Italian movement). The MSI was founded by Giorgio Almirante and some other guys in 1947. It was declared as the descendant of the fascist party since the very beginning of its life. Like, for fuck's sake, Italians, wake up, it is so fucking evident it pisses me off so much, you know. Like, how is that even possible that people don't even get to understand something so simple? You don't have to believe in some kind of conspiracy theory, you just have to go fucking read the history of that party. You just need to READ. But apparently in my country people prefer to believe everything they hear instead of doing what a normal people would do. I'm not surprised fascism is coming back honestly

That's not contradictory. I wish we could get normal Italian turnout numbers (I think Italy generally turns out in the high 80s and low 90s?). Anyways, stand strong, her coalition doesn’t seem to be as stable as she claims.

Quick map checks of population shows there are not that many people in red states and the more backwards they go socially that number will dip more. Nobody wants to live in a Christian version of Afghanistan that even includes Christians. Its why I wish we could get rid of democrats and have better parties to improve the problems in blue states. Rather then the carbon copies we have who will literally fund conservatives for some damn reason. Its not impossible to beat conservatives who only live to make life worse its we do not have a real opposition party. @@rorschachwatchmen4742 it's quite a bit harder than that, but that really is the core of it. You also need to be able to differentiate between good or bad sources, and understand logical fallacies. Unfortunately "do research" can also end up on places like Breitbart, or The Daily Wire - offering extremely bias and often infactual information (or drawing the wrong conclusions ect) Also to truly understand things at even just Hasan's level so you can properly explain it, you also need like - years prior of information and knowledge about a ton of different political topics. Ultimately the solution is not much different than what you said, but its not -easy- ya know?

I'm in Milan right now on a euro trip (I'm a bonger, so we only euro-lite now I guess). There are flags and banners that have the Italian flag and lightening bolt symbols on them. Also I've seen the term "nazionalismo" on a couple of them. I wish I was joking. Pretty sad. Milan is a pretty bourgeois area of Italy and football hooligans are shouting in the streets. It isn't total chaos or anything, but it's clearly the beginning of something much worse.

@@viys3261 or get the trip done whilst things are still relatively normal. I'm nb and present myself very androgynously. I've not had any comments or even many looks. On a personal level, the Italian people are very respectful. The issue comes from those who get caught up in the "community" aspect of being part of an extreme political movement. That being said, I feel safe as I'm in a small group of friends and we have an Italian born person with us who can speak the language. If I was alone I'd be pretty worried I think, and that says a lot, as I've done a lot of solo travelling.

Most people percieve women as less threatening than men, even when spouting hateful rhetoric. Thats why far right otganisations often choose GirlbossTM female representatives here in Europe. They're not their favourite leaders but they seem less evil to centrists/conservatives and therefore have better chances of winning.
