New deadly Veloce jet-powered drone for Ukraine to rival Iranian Shahed 238

There could soon be something new in the skies over Ukraine this summer - and it's bad news for Russian invasion forces.
The Veloce 330 is a French jet-powered loitering munition that in tests has already reached almost 250mph, covering 30 miles in just 16 minutes on only half a tank of fuel.
It's equipped with a core generating charge - a modified version of a regular shaped charge that can be remotely operated to defeat the active defences of armoured vehicles and a navigation system without GPS - making it insensitive to jamming.

Unless there are operational requirements not described, this looks like a gold-plated Cadillac to be used where a Honda will do nicely. There is no such thing as a "cheap" jet engine, and loitering munitions don't need to go 250 mph. No GPS means a major loss in accuracy, but drones are only really dangerous if they are accurate. Assuming it is command-guided, jamming the command link is the obvious vulnerability.

The pilot isn't meant to die and as far as I know there isn't a self aware AI on board making that decision for itself. As long as a drone gets information about the outside world through on-board sensors, it will ALWAYS be possible to jam them. Directed laser pulses can burn out cameras, blanket GPS or magnetic interference to disrupt wayfinding, and even simply painting a spot on the ground to look like the target to confuse visually-targeted drones. After all, to a computer, a picture of a thing and the thing itself look exactly the same. There will always be some specific way to defeat a specific type of drone. Unless it's a completely dumb drone running purely on timers, it can be turned away from its path.

There are ways to counter counter-measures; thats why they want to test in a real war. Counter-measures are not as easy to deploy as it might appear - before you can point a laser, you need to know the device is there, be in front of it, and have a sufficiently powerful and accurate laser with you. Magnetic disruption has a limited range and duration - this thing can loiter. Painting things - you have to paint a LOT of things to cover all the potential targets, and thats not practical for mobile units. (Oh, and paint doesnt work by the way - sensors are better than that). Yes, there are effective counter-measures, but they cant be deployed everywhere, so as long as intelligence picks the right targets, these could be very effective.

Well it's either flown by someone and therefore jammable or has an offline AI with a limited target library. In that case you could paint your vehicles differently or use dummies to defeat it.

As France uses kilometres and so does Ukraine and Russia, would it be to much to ask to use kilometres when talking about a French drone’s capability in Ukraine? By all means do the conversion alongside (use % of Spitfires if you want), but it’s ridiculous to give the speed and range figures in miles only.

Impressive. What's the payload? Does the whole missile explode on impact or can the missile drop a bomb on the target (iit looks a bit expensive if the former). Can you reprogram what the missile hunts for? Does it use inertial navigation to get in the general area and then hunt for targets when there? I'm fairly sure the Russians are going to love them.
