Why Russia’s Glide Bombs are Almost Impossible for Ukraine to Stop | War on Tape | Daily Mail
Glide bombs are the latest terrifying weapon Russia is using in its war on Ukraine. By strapping wings and GPS kits to Soviet bombs weighing up to 1.5 tons, Putin’s warplanes are now able to demolish Ukrainian defences and help their troops advance. With the help of air power expert Justin Bronk of the RUSI think-tank, we uncover how these new weapons work, why they are almost impossible for Ukraine to stop, and why - despite that - they probably won’t win the war for Moscow.

@@yosefyonin6824 Small jabs here and there, starting with carefully selected truths to make the rest sound correct. Claiming using the JDAM can help to avoid civilians, while listing Gaza; Russia copied the glide bomb concept after Bakhmut/Artemovsk although it was first proposed in 2003. And then came the "expert". Those Ukrainian air defences that kept RU aviation humble were actually what they inherited from the USSR in huge numbers, the western ones are small in numbers. Russia until the end of 2023 used 7400 cruise missiles and half as many Geraan drones in UA mainly to deplete those air defences. It worked, by now most of them are gone, allowing Russia to switch to shorter range and less expensive weapons, such as glide bombs. Claiming Russians don't care about their own casualties is a constant BS narrative. The decision to withdraw from Avdiivka came after most UA troops were already KIA or fled from there. And more, but this should be enough I think.

As a British citizen, who has been well aware of the facts leading up to this conflict. I've got to say through British politicians & British media. I feel something I never ever dreamt would be the case. I'm embarrassed about being a British citizen today. After over 5 decades of being as proud as anyone of being British. Today my Government are an embarrassment in a world stage. The single reason my government are getting away with their lies, propaganda & incompetence is the British media. You see the ruling classes have had a hatred if Russia, that the vast majority if the population do not understand & have no idea why they feel this way. Despite having anti Russian lies, half truths & propaganda rammed down our throats for decades. Accusations never ever provided with evidence are the biggest favourite if these people. Their friends in British mexia only too willing to push these accusations. Repeating them any amount of times then expanding on these stories. The problem is not everyone is a brain dead sheep. Blindly following their BS & treating it as gospel truth. I mean why would any British politician change a habit of a lifetime & actually speak the truth? Why would any British media platform give the citizens if Britain real facts for change? All anyone has to do is ask themselves, What has Russia done to Britain & the British people, for the rulers of this country to hate them so much? As I can state a few things the British leadership have done against the Russians. That could be seen as actual acts of war in international law. I'd love to know when Ukraine became an Allie of Britain also. Was it after the democratically voted for President of Ukraine was removed by the US lead coup in 2014? After installing the Western puppet. Why hasn't British media asked the question if the British gov has audited any of the billions in aid given to Ukraine. As not my words but it's even recorded in the UN. Ukraine is the most corrupt country in Europe & one of the most corrupt in the world. You'd expect a rational government to want to know & get the receipts for British tax payers money given to such a regime. Saying that we have a current leader, who one day approx 10 days ago was stating policies how his gov were going to target the most vulnerable in British society over their benefits. These people don't get enough to live on, but an easy target for these rulers of ours. Then 3 days after that the very same ruler in Britain had a press conference, bragging about how many more billions of our tax payers money he was giving to Ukraine unaudited like he was some type if hero. Talk about being totally detached from reality, doesn't come close. These rulers of ours today are a national embarrassment if not much worse. I could state facts that would be controversial, I could also show the evidence of those facts. But we're not allowed to do that in my country today. Without receiving some punishment or the other. This is why today sadly I'm embarrassed about being British.

M-62 means "Model of 1962". It either indicates the year it was designed or the one it entered service. It does NOT mean it was manufactured in 1962. They are still being manufactured today. Even the Wikipedia article on these bombs clearly states that for crying out loud. EDIT: There are tons of other mistakes of varying severity in the video, that need to be addressed. so here we go... The UMPKs are not fitted with "GPS trackers". You can call these electronic modules "satellite navigation modules", "GNSS modules/receivers" and other such terms to indicate they enable the bomb to use satellite navigation. GPS specifically refers to the US satellite navigation system, with its 100% US built, owned and operated satellite constellation. I don't think I need to state why it's a terrible idea to use your enemy's GNSS to guide your own bombs. Russians outfit their UMPKs with GNSS receivers designed to work with their own, domestic system, GLONASS. The kind of missile countermeasure seen dumped in the Su-34 clip at 2:54 is called "chaff" and bares 0 similarity to a flare both in looks and function. Flares are meant to distract missiles using IR seekers, and 99% of such missiles have a very short range ( e.g. MANPADS ). Chaff on the other hand is meant to provide a false target for missiles using active or semi-active radar guidance. It's essentially a puff of metallic confetti that reflects radiowaves extremely well in all directions, hence why it lights up like a Christmas tree on radar. Missiles using radar guidance are usually designed for medium up to extremely long range shots, and as such they are exactly the one single type of threat that these Su-34s flying high and far away from Ukrainian airspace must be aware of and defend against. The UMPK fitted bombs are VERY accurate. They can easily achieve a

The germans had encircled a group of them and told them to surrender. They lifted the white flag and as soon as the germans approached them, they shot at the germans and killed a few of them. The germans than attacked and were able to take them out, put a few of these dirty fighting soldiers against the wall because of their actions before. Later the british claimed that it was a massacre done by the germans and of course never mentioned what really went down. Typical british.

Russia lost the war from the start, an operation of 3 weeks turned in to 3 years with only control of a small slice of Ukraine, I would call that a terrible failure for the Russian army and leadership. The USA invaded Iraq and in 2 months took over a country the same size as Ukraine and only lost 120 solders. Russia has lost over 50,000 military and another 50,000 mercenaries and is very far from taking even 1/4 of Ukraine. But the real play is that the west does not care, it broke off from Russia oil and gas without any issues and is no longer have any relations with Russia, you cannot visit Russia you cannot trade with Russia, the relations are gone and may never be repaired again.

These are British propagandists. If they can minimize Russian achievement they will do it. 1) He claims Ukrainians withdrew from Avdeevka with 1500 K.I.A and around 1000 prisoners. Yet he presents it has a retreat 🙄 2) he claims Russia copied the JDAM. How funny. The Russian UPMK doesn't even look like the JDAM stuff 3) as you pointed out he failed to mention that Russia successfully nullified the JDAM with electronic warfare 4) he pretends western EW can stop Russian Fabs, when we actually know from US sources that western EW has hard time jamming Russian Kometa anti jamming modules for Glonass guidance

  • @Comm0ut

Jamming only degrades GPS. Jamming does not affect INS but INS as fitted to supplied JDAM kits is only yields ~30 meter CEP while GPS yields ~5 meter CEP (per public release anyway). Reducing effectiveness is not the same thing as rendering supplied JDAM "useless". In the perpetual electronic race expect both sides to invest in home-on-jam missile systems for SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defensed). Jamming and countermeasures constantly evolve. Glavset and friends naturally prefer absolutist assertions which make better propaganda given their non-technical audience. Tabloid media in the West are equally silly but the simple masses demand simple assertions or their eyes glaze over.

They even had a missile system that knocked down a U2 spy plane that was at 60,000 feet, in 1960, a time when America had zero smart missiles. In 1994, an old Russian air defense system brought down an F117. So Russia has always been way ahead of the west in military tech and guided bombs. Russians also have the aptitude for quick technological adaptability.

But they never attach USA name to US backed militias. It is an untold assumption that USA was in favour of Nelson Mandela during the fight against South African apartheid. But most people don’t know in reality it was a U.S./Uk sponsored apartheid and it was Russia and Iran that helped Nelson Mandela. Imagine if the media will always call it ‘U.S./UK sponsored South African apartheid’.

The US has placed its bets on winning wars based on fear, chaos, terror, death, and destruction, in high level intensity battlefields, these are tricks. This war in Ukraine is not a war of tricks, but a war of attrition, in a real war, the US tricks don't work, none of it. This might also explain the huge shortfall of US weapons on hand. That is because, a small amount of super weapons, with tricks, always did the trick, and it was supposed to do the trick, again, on Russia, in Ukraine. Before this, it was enough, there was never a need for huge stockpiles of US weapons. Well, that's just too bad, Russia and its large stockpiles of weapons has already won this war, and The US is once again in a defeatist position, yet, in stubbornness and shame, it's refusing to concede defeat. Instead, the US continue on with its tricks, but no matter how long it keeps this up, the US will have no choice but to concede, any which way it chooses.

British strategists devised "Operation Unthinkable," an apt name for what would have been World War III. This document is the property of His Majesty’s Government. The war with the Soviet Union was to begin on 1 July 1945. This operation began in April 1945, when the war was not over, but the outcome was clear. The possible distribution of forces in the world after the victory over Germany, already at that time did not please the United Kingdom and the USA, so the «Unthinkable» was hastily planned. So did the "allies" of Soviet Russia. The document, which is now in the UK National Archives, details all the steps of the operation. Operation Unthinkable (1945) assumed a surprise attack by up divisions forces of the "allies", the "dogface" troops in the area of Dresden, in the middle of Soviet lines. A surprise attack by 47 British and American divisions supported by 10-12 German divisions, which "allies" held as not generated in Schleswig-Holstein and in southern Denmark should support the blow, they were daily trained by the British instructors: prepared for the war against the USSR. The storming of Berlin sobered the British. The conclusion of the Chiefs of Staff of the British troops was clear: the blitzkrieg against the Russians would not work. On this was completed the development of operation «Unthinkable». Meanwhile, while planning a war against the USSR, the pragmatic allies persuade Stalin to help them with the Japanese after defeating Germany. Americans after World War II are almost masters of peace. Not the Soviet Union, which fought fascists for four years, liberated all of Europe, losing more than 20 million people and a quarter of the economy on the front and civilians, but the United States, which once again managed to use the war to their advantage. History is repeating itself... again. "Operation Unthinkable” is ongoing... HISTORIA EST MAGISTRA VITAE - history is the mentor of life (Cicero). History is not a teacher, but a overseer : she teaches nothing, but severely punishes ignorance of lessons. (O.V. Klyuchevsky, Russian historian).

The Russian march on the capital last February included the apparatus of an occupation force to dismember the country. The right to self-defense is in the UN Charter. Russia is trying to take possession of an independent sovereign country by force. The UN agreed, United Nations Resolution ES‑11/4 called on Russia to "immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw" from Ukraine as it is violating its territorial integrity and sovereignty. @@1maico1 The Russian Federation is both the successor and continuator of the Soviet Union. Russia automatically continues the international rights and obligations of the USSR. Articles 106 and 107 of the United Nations Charter give Russia, as the successor to the winner of the Second World War, the right to all measures, including military measures, against countries reviving Nazism. In Ukraine, the Nazis are part of the power and security structures. Modern Ukraine, which has taken the official course on the complete reformatting of history, as well as the glorification and continuity with the collaboration and terrorist formation of OUN-UPA, automatically falls into the list of states where the results of the Second World War are reviewed. These people are paid clowns for the corrupted military industry in NATO countries. They are still claiming for example that Leopard 2 and M1 Abrams are invincible tanks. And that Russian military industry can now extract and reverse engineered top secret tank technologies from this 50 years old Cold War metal junkyard. It's incredible the amount of lies and BS these people are capable of selling to naive people around the world.

Simple. Western EW systems are garbage and available only in very small numbers to the AFU. In stark contrast, the Russian Armed Forces arguably field the most advanced EW systems worldwide, and at an extremely large scale. Virtually every single Russian HVT, such as command centers, naval bases, airfields, significant bridges, etc are all protected by EW.

this expert told the truth half of the story, half made it up to please people who believe that the Ukrainian fascists of the Kyiv regime are very successful. Someone tell him that gliding bombs began to be used precisely because missiles were able to destroy most of the air defense from the Patriots and S-300. and now these systems are in short supply and are used to cover objects away from the front. and the Su-34 can fly up to distances sufficient for a drop. Only from the beginning of 2024 there is a video recording the destruction of 40 Ukrainian air defense installations and 20 Ukrainian radar installations. Which two air defense systems out of these forty did the expert remember? The funny thing is that he said that the Russians would not mind if a bomb fell on their cities because the engine was not turned on, this is said by a person from a country that demands that Ukraine launch missiles at civilian targets in Russia! everyone knows that Ukraine is faced with the ineffectiveness of using weapons against military targets and countries donating weapons have called for using them against the civilian population of Russia.

Patriots have always been in short supply. There are only a few of them and one has been destroyed when it was in a convoy. The Russians have been remarkably ineffective in targeting Ukrainian air defences in the last 2 years. Things like the s-300 have been used up. The fascists are in Moscow not Kyiv. In the 2019 presidential and Parliamentary elections SN was by far the most popular party. A centrist, pro-European alliance. The Russian march on the capital last February included the apparatus of an occupation force to dismember the country. The UN agreed. Resolution ES‑11/4 called on Russia to "immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw" from Ukraine as it is violating its territorial integrity and sovereignty. The resolution passed with 143 countries in favor, 35 abstaining, and only 5 against(Belarus, North Korea, Nicaragua, Syria, and the Russian Federation)
