New control system for home made press brake

In this video, I build a new control system for the downward stroke of my homemade press break. This new system will control the downward stroke of the ram and keep both side even.

0.020 is 4 degrees or so on 11 ga, isn't it? But isn't the deflection the same on both sides? The throat depth is one part but the height of the opening has a bigger effect. IIRC, the analysis of a C-frame uses beam deflection for the vertical part of the frame. Deflection of beams are proportional to the length of the beam to the 3rd power. You could also stiffen it up by adding another layer of steel, without changing the shape of the C-frame. But the effect of that is inversely proportional, which would be a smaller effect than minimizing the height of the opening. In theory...

The deflection is even side to side. Thank you for the suggestions, I think I’m going to add another layer and decrease the throat depth a little. Eventually my plan is to build a new frame.

It’s working pretty good now. I’ll be doing a video on it soon
