Nice fix dude! I've got an old Millermatic 140, looks very similar to your 35, but I don't have to taps for voltage on the front. That's nice feature ;you got there. Cheers!!

Just came across your video and I have a Millermatic 200 which is doing the same thing. You let go of the trigger and wire continues to come out and it's hot. Sometimes when you let go the wire stops but it's hot and if you touch the hot wire to ground the motor starts. I Got Lucky and found one of the original Furnas 114780 contactor on eBay. They are 120 volt pull in though. If I read your serial number correct JK55***5 you're welder was manufactured between January - June 1989. I was told by a Miller tech that the 2 wire drive motors were still serviceable and the 4 wire drive motor that are obsolete. I also got lucky and found a SP35 on eBay, they are fun to use. Miller makes it easy to install on your welder there is a plug near the opening in the face plate, you remove the jumper and the SKP35 plugs right in. Saves the contactor when you are spot welding The yellow taps are still available also. Part number 039878 and 057608 from Am*zon, just under $40.00 each.

@@ultra4suzukisamurai679 I grabbed the one on eBay because I knew they were like hen's teeth, I paid $200.00 for it. You also mentioned that you thought the mig gun might be different on the older 35 you bought. The only difference on the older ones is the gas hose. On the older one the gas hose might stick through the face plate where the current one you use it's integrated in the end that goes into the welder. I hear they can be converted to take the modern mig gun.

Those relay contacts are meant to be cleaned. I have a very fine set of flexible, diamond files, for that very puerpose.

I’ll take an older production welder over the new stuff any day. Sure they break but you can actually fix them unlike non transformer based little boxes

New stuff can be fixed... It's just above your experience level. There is an entire generation that is fully capable of board level repairs.

Main problem with most older units. Problem down the road will be getting parts.
