Hi, I have a question. What would you buy first? Kaabo wolf warrior x base model for $2500 CAD ?? Or "yume x11 clone" from Amazon Canada for $2400 CAD ?? The yume x11 clone is faster, has bigger battery and is a bit cheaper. But its a clone.. so what is the better buy?? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty good ride when I ventured off-road too and that is why I bought the ghost, that and for hill climbing power and the raw look of the build. Technical question for you - just like there’s no battery saving riding single, what real benefit is there to Eco when its top speed is 17mph, vs mode 1 at 20mph? Any difference in amps delivered, acceleration etc that helps significantly on a days ride?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
Жыл бұрын
Great question. The difference in acceleration between speed mode 1, 2, and 3 is hard to detect, but there is a noticeable difference in acceleration between Eco and Turbo. So Eco will be drawing less current. It's going to be a very small savings though, especially on the 2022 Ghost, because physics-wise, accelerating you and the scooter up to 17 mph takes a certain amount of work no matter how quickly it's done. So the only two things which would impact range here are: Does Eco mode keep the motor cooler (less resistive loss to heat) Does Eco mode lower your average speed (wind resistance is non-linear, so lower average speed increases range). For big impact on range, the main factors are (in order of importance) 1) Keep top speed low 2) Set tire pressure to maximum recommended pressure 3) Have a small wind profile (hard to do much about this one. Zip jacket closed, zip jacket pockets closed. Close face shield on helmet if full-face). 4) Make sure brakes aren't dragging 5) Try to avoid applying more than 50% throttle, or run in Eco mode, to keep the motor operating in its most efficient mode. -Paul

Im 140 lbs and i owned 2022 ghost, would like to know how to soften the suspension
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
Жыл бұрын
My favorite mod for the Ghost is to add a small reinforced rubber washer and metal washer to the top of the bolts for the suspension spring. It doesn't really soften up the suspension, but keeps the suspension from clunking when it reaches the top of travel. The trick is finding washers that fit into the space. You can add a stack of rubber washers for more cushion. It’s best to use washers with fibers embedded in them, otherwise they will pop off. I’ve even seen folks work a small spring, into that space. The other thing I haven’t tried that could help is giving the spring one or two turns counter clockwise, to reduce spring preload. This would also make it top out less. The tricky thing here is you’d need to loctite the bolt once you’ve loosened it to make sure it doesn’t keep backing out (because if the bolt comes all the way out the spring could completely leave the scooter) Softening the top-out feeling really changes the feel of the scooter for the better. -Paul

Did they upgrade their tires that often get flat?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
Жыл бұрын
Tires appear to be the same, but the tubes may be different, and it comes with spare tubes. The most important thing to prevent flats is checking tire pressure once a week (or ideally before each ride) and making sure they’re fully aired up. All scooter tires have a ton of surface area relative to their volume, so they lose pressure way faster than car tires or even bicycle tires. I haven’t checked, but thicker rims mean that the profile of the rim is probably also more blunt, which would help prevent pinch-flats. -Paul

What do you think of the City Pro 2022 model for a man of my weight?
Did you have to do anything to get the scooter to go above 15mph? Both my wife and I bought Ghosts, and no matter what gear we are in the maximum speed is 15mph even if no one is riding it (it's just sitting on a box with the wheels free spinning.) Apollo's customer support takes at least 48hrs, so just seeing if anyone here is able to answer faster :) If it was just one scooter I'd think it was defective, but where both have the issue I'm thinking I'm defective lol. I've made sure the battery was fully charged, and the P settings have: Acceleration = 5 Power = 100 I'm hoping it's just a setting I'm missing, or maybe something like the brakes being too tight. It's my first scooter so I'm kind of an idiot as to what's normal and what's not. Once it stops raining I'll test out the brake theory by riding it around a bunch. I've only gone around the block once when it wasn't raining to just to make sure it worked.

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Thanks for the quick reply. Actually it apparently just needed to be broken in a bit. It's been raining here for the last week or so, so I hadn't been able to ride it since that first day I just took it around the block and it capped at 15mph. My wife and I took our scooters for a few mile ride today since it's sunny, and by the end of the ride the scooter was hitting 38mph!

Actually it does matter. You don't need all those headjerking starts with dual motor, the ride will be less jerky overall and you won't lose excess energy by putting it into range. Single motor mode is beneficial when you don't care about how much longer the trip will get, and if you really need to squeeze more mileage from the battery. I'm riding apollo ghost as commute for 2 months in a row now so I noticed as much. Also you are much more likely to be trigger-happy with the throttle while in dual motor mode since the drag is addicting.

That's a good question. The 2022 is quicker up hills, due to more copper in the motors, but there may be something about the motors that causes them to make less power at higher RPM. (different KV-spec: rpm per volt, perhaps) -Paul

At this price range, I would rather buy a VSETT 10+ dual motor than getting a mid cycle refresh ghost scooter, because there is an authorized VSETT dealer and repair shop 10 minutes from my house. The problem with Apollo is that they do not have their own repair shop in the Greater Toronto Area. On suspension in general, or tips for the Ghost? I’d love to do one on all the different types of scooter suspension! Here are my tips for lighter weight riders on the Ghost. My favorite mod for the Ghost is to add a small rubber washer and metal washer to the top of the bolts for the suspension spring. This keeps the suspension from clunking when it reaches the top of travel. The tricky thing here is you’d need to loctite the bolt to make sure it doesn’t keep backing out (causing the suspension to fall apart).

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide In general, like recommended settings, types of suspensions with its pros and cons, what to look for when adjusting based on factors like riders weight, terrain, feel, etc. The more the detailed, the better. I currently have my Ghost '21 set to one turn away from the stiffest in the front and a turn and a half in the back. I'm still playing around with it on which should be better for me as a lighter rider. I might think of doing the mod that you mentioned because the rear screw feel too loose when trying to make it on the softer setting and afraid it might loosen overtime causing it to pop out through the plastic foot rest when compressed. Also would like go ask if Apollo made the kickstand on the Ghost '22 longer?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide

I don't think the stand has changed on the Ghost '22. The stand on our '21 Ghost is sagging a bit with time though, so it leans more. You have to be careful with the stand because it's made out of aluminum. -Paul

As far as the suspension goes, I agree, you want to be careful with reducing preload. For riders under 165 lbs, I would try running the tires at 40 psi, and then adding a reinforced rubber washer and a small metal washer on the two bolts that hold the suspension springs in place. It will take away the clunk when the suspension tops out, and should make a big difference in the over all feel. -Paul

In an ideal world, when you're on the scooter wearing riding gear, you would have 1/3 upward suspension travel available, and 2/3 downward travel available. So, in other words you'd be sitting at 1/3 from the top of the travel. -Paul

It really depends. They both weigh about the same. The Ghost is quicker off the line and has higher top speed and much stronger brakes. The City Pro (dual motor) is roomier, a little more modern looking, and easier to ride. The City Pro has a nice app, (that keeps getting better), it has tubeless flat-resistant tires, and the cool regen thumb brake. Both are really good looking. Oh, the City Pro has a higher water resistance rating and better fenders, so it’s definitely better in rain. For sporty intermediate to expert riders: Ghost. I bought a '22 Ghost as my first scooter, based in part on these reviews. I'll definitely try your suspension tweak, I think that will be helpful. The significant QC issue I had was that the rear brake caliper adapter was installed backwards, in the 160mm rotor position. The scooter has 140mm rotors, so only half the pad area was being used. An easy fix, but it shouldn't have been shipped out like that. A smaller issue is that the deck-mounted hook needs to be rotated 180deg, or bent upwards, to work.
