For anyone worried about the removal of the key ignition, an aftermarket motorbike style brake disc lock carried in a pouch will serve you much better. Key ignition does nothing to stop a thief from freewheeling the scooter away (key/NFC/app access controls do not lock the wheels)

Apollo also sell a really impressive lock which I've used on mine and it mounts nicely to the scooter!
Still frustrating that ip54 is the standard most companies go for. I’m in the UK and wet weather is common and unpredictable so I would hope they get the ip up to ip65. I still think the main headlight needs to be more powerful and some deck lighting would be nice. Front indicators are also a must for future versions. perhaps having some hand grip clamps that have indicator lights in them giving you high mounted handlebar indicators as well is possible and solves two issues! . Front indicators, better ip rating and Apollo is there with the best dual motor commuter!.😀

Private owned ones are still illegal and you can get 6 points on your licence and £300 fine if caught riding it as well as the scooter being impounded at around £150 I believe to get it back! I agree it’s nonsense when most of Europe they are legal to some degree. To be frank though almost everywhere has a 15.5mph limit tops and some restrict watts etc so most scooters like this phantom are still going to be illegal, in fact I think most things over 500 watts are which is ridiculous 🤦🏽

"Small number developing cracks" I'm sure that's why they sent out a reinforcing bracket that's basically mandatory to install for v1 users, and the apollo subreddit is riddled with complaints. It's a shame you guys don't do followup reviews to scooters to tell your viewers how they've held up over time. Speedy feet UK for EUCs do an initial review, a 250km, 500k, and 1000km review so you know what to expect long term.

We're still riding our V1 without the brace, without any changes in riding habits, but we plan to install the brace eventually. I'm tempted to take both the V1 and V2 out and jump them both off of tall curbs a hundred-or-so times on video to see if I can induce a failure. I don't know if we'll ever get into long-term testing. We're constantly putting everything we've got into testing reviewing the scooters as the come out, so even most of our personal riding time is spent evaluating whatever scooter we're currently writing about -Paul

My Phantom v1 the neck stem broke when braking. I was so lucky I was wearing my gear to protect myself. Took a few minutes to recover from the incident. I just dropped my scooter to fluidfreeride shop. I do hope the v2 is better built because I always check my phantom weekly. There was no signs of cracks at all. I definitely hope the frame is sturdier because with the stem broken I’m out of a scooter for a while. I hope Apollo are able to check my phantom and see quality control for the phantom. Hi Pierre-Marc, Reddit is a good source for learning about worst case scenarios. I think if I spent long enough there, I'd be convinced never to buy any electric scooter. We cover all of the stuff that the vast vast majority of riders are going to experience, since it's impossible to hit all of the edge cases. The thing that bothered me most about our V1 was the dim screen, and that's been fixed for both V1 owners with the free upgrade kit, and of course the V2 comes with a brighter screen now. Next most bothersome thing was the kickstand, which we called out in the V1 review video, and that's also been addressed for both V1 owners and on the V2. The frame issue, (which we mentioned) is concerning, but Apollo has started shipping frame braces for V1's (also mentioned in the full list of upgrades in the video description) and the V2 has a thicker frame. We have three Phantoms here. Two of the V1's and one V2. We ride them all a lot. Our very first unit was damaged in shipping and I had to straighten the rotors (a 20 minute job, covered in one of our how-to videos), but since then no issues with rotors. Cheers -Paul

It's surprisngly common for there to be some fender spray on IP rated scooters. As rain riding evolves from a fringe use case to being more mainstream I think IP ratings and better water deflection will become really important. @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I hope someone will take electric scooters seriously and make some models with the basics done right. The V1 upgrade kit is great, display is finally readable in daylight, but the new throttle still sucks. It still does not modulate power smoothly. It jerks from 0 to a power setting. Once at a constant power, backing off a little results in wild jerking on-and off. If they can get the power modulation smooth from zero to max would be an amazing scooter.

Hi. So this is the issue I was hoping to find out about. I’m torn between the wolf warrior x base model (sine wave controller) and the phantom. I’ve seen many videos where to control scooter at low speeds wwx users have to give quick single burst touches of the throttle cause it’s too jerky and powerful to hold the trigger just a small amount. It’s either ON or off. I was hoping the phantom had less of this issue. Can you or anyone confirm their behaviours and help make my mind up what to get? 😆
Hi. I’m stuck between choosing the wolf warrior x base model and the phantom v2. I’m a bit worried that the wolf will be too jerky in its initial take off and hard to control smoothly at low speeds. Is the phantom a smoother ride at low speeds compared to the wolf x? And I know either scooter is fully waterproof but how water tight is the hex display on the phantom? Cause if that breaks then I have no local dealer to source a new one. It’d be a case of shipping it from Canada to northern Iceland where I live. Thanks

There is no app. The key was part of the V1 throttle, but the new one, which is one of the best feeling throttles out there, just isn't available with an integrated key switch, so it would have been a separate thing to add to the handlebars. I've also seen a few key switch failures on our older scooters here at ESG, so it could be that they eliminated it for reliability. -Paul

FYI, if you are tempted to throw on an aftermarket key lock I would think twice. I reached out to Apollo, my local reseller and the local warranty repair shop for second opinions - unanimous answer is that it will void the warranty on the controllers. Next best thing would be wiring a key lock into the throttle line to just lock out the throttle. Strongly recommend buying a motorbike style disc brake lock and keeping it in a handlebar pouch instead. A bit less convenient, but better than an electronic lock as it also prevents thieves freewheeling the scooter away (which key/app ignition doesn't prevent). You can even get alarmed disc brake locks.

No, it was part of the V1 throttle, so when that went away the key went away. We've seen reliability issues with key switches, and I don't feel like they offer much security, other than keeping siblings/roomates from taking joy rides. -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide So because of an old Ferrari had bad welds, 26 years ago, we should accept it? Does Ferrari still have bad welds? No they don't. They adopted to modern technology. Maybe Apollo shouldnt hire a welder from Ferraris old old old team.

Hello everybody, Here is my 1 month review on Apollo V2. Overall the build quality is very good, the ride is smooth and fast - it’s a great scooter. However, there is a super big BUT… First of all, I’m a doctor from Johns Hopkins University and I bought this scooter to commute in Baltimore to work (I had an Etwow S2 scooter for 5 years, which was great, however the battery was getting old and I wanted something faster). When the scooter arrived I was hesitant to keep it because it was fairly big - you definitely can’t hop on the Bus with it (for example if it starts raining) and it’s difficult to put it in the trunk - although possible (I have a normal sized sedan). The super big BUT with the scooter is the following ==> Flat TIRES!!!! When my scooter arrived I accidentally saw online that many people complained about flat tires! It is REAL GUYS and is super serious! I got my first flat tire only on my 3rd trip/day, which was super super annoying because I needed to go to work but when I came outside I realized that the back tire was flat. It was kinda pain the the but to fix it few days later. And yes, I was late to work and patients were waiting for me!!! Because the ride quality is actually really nice, I decided to give it another try and come up with something. My friend recommended me to buy Armor-Dilloz Filler, which I did. I also purchased a special rubberized band to prevent flats that installed between the tire and the tube! Few days ago I’m getting another flat guys when coming back from work (~5 miles from work to where I live) - I have to drag the scooter for a few miles and finally my wife was able to pick me up about 1 mile from home (some difficulty putting it in the trunk by the way as mentioned above). The question is, how in the world did I get a second flat tire 1 month with 2 “anti-flat modifications”. I’m riding on the bike lanes, don’t do anything crazy (no jumping, off road riding). I had my Etwow scooter for 5 years and never had any problem with it (ride was good, super portable, much cheaper, never flats). I’m very disappointed that I had to pay a little over $2000 for this scooter and I CAN’T RELY ON IT!!! Someone can literally die in the hospital if I get late. Another small things is those 2 caps at the charging port are really bad quality - one was disconnected out of the box (I’m talking about the plastic cord that should be attached to it was missing a tiny part) - now the second charging port plastic peace is disconnected. Those rubberized covers for the screws - 2 got lost already. I’m just dissapointed that I bought this as a means of commute, but you can’t trust it. I’d rather have hollow tires and it being heavier.

you wouldn’t believe it, after finishing the above review, I rode my scooter from work home and guess what…. 3rd flat ==> 2 days in a row, WTF!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info! Flat tires are not related at all to any particular scooter. Maintenance and good tubes is best thing you can do to prevent flats along with checking the PSI often.

@@dzmitryhaviazheu5199 Apollo scooters are a hunk of junk. They appear to look like they are built well, but they are not. The company is really shady as well. Deleting bad reviews off their official pages, while hiring bots to post good feedback. I bought a solar scooter, made in the UK. Have nothing but good things to say about it.

@@Bigazzham thank you for your message! I think actually the problem most likely was a pinched tire - I’m now trying to check pressure regularly. I agree, there are some small areas which needed more details - for example the charger caps looked cheaply made and flimsy, but overall I feel like the is solidly build. I actually love how it rides - I hope there won’t be as many flat tires any more, but the ride is outstanding.

Be aware about the inner tubes for these. I got 2 rides on my new Phantom and got a flat in the rear tire. For the life of me couldn't figure out why. So I went to the Apollo web site to order new tubes and for 2 new tubes with shipping is over $50 dollars. This is a complete ripoff and the company needs to fix that. Shipping costs more than the tire and there's nothing special on the quality of the tubes. This tube thing is crazy and now that I know I would have never bought this thing. They need no flat wheels because if I'm out far from home and get a flat I'm screwed. Pushing a 75lb scooter many miles would suck!

Great quick review. Apollo evilving quickly. 👍👍Nice. But they rushed scooters fir production!!! Apollo should of 🤔💭thought ⒈rather than just ..... Now they're getting the hang of it. Still no front blinkers yet!!! Rear fender just looks unfinished!!! It's throwing lots of mud, water and debry all over the suspension parts. You need a Hose to clean the hat crap out. They went for looks not for practicality. Too bad too sad. They're still immature creators & we have to pay the price for it. Although Apollo finally improving their scooters catching up with the VSETT & other great scooters. Soon Apollo is going to be in the top 3 scooters on the planet in 2022!?? Thank you.
No such thing as a perfect scooter yet the Apollo Phantom comes as close as you can get. Phantom V2 owner with no regrets. How often do you ride your motorcycle in the rain. Ugh. Ip rating not as important to me as you can still ride in light rain. The V3 upgrade will have Ludo mode, Flatten your face Ludo mode! V2 comes with a wicked free tool kit. The V3 upgrade will have front signals as a option.
