This is why you use carriers with shield hardening, hard beats both frigate types at long range, only loses to torp frigates in close.

just did a bunch of testing. neutron frigates will still kill shield-hardened battleships. the only time a BB monofleet will survive a neutron frigate swarm is if you give them 5x dark matter shields with 3x shield capacitors... which then makes them ridiculously vulnerable to torpedoes.

@@elbalerto Respectfully you likely made several mistakes. Most likely using the wrong components in several areas. A proper carrier fleet wins equal alloys max range start. Carrier fore/core with 3 strike craft, maximized shield slots and hardeners, you don't even need neutron power due to the low power use of carrier slots. Perhaps pure armor frigates could win in a close in fight, but max engage range? No chance.

Strike Craft are worthless beyond niche uses though. I rarely ever use carriers beyond the mid game.

@@shards7992 carriers with fallen-empire tech (pure t6 shields, 75% hardening) will indeed defeat equivalent torpedo frigates when using hit and run policy. your point stands.
Someday we are indeed going to see downfall of this evil weapon
the only thing they should rework is the instant damage. damage being done before the shot even lands is fucking stupid

@@Strategiser2 i think his take is more in the direction of making every weapon insta hit with a nice model you can look at than most weapons insta hit but torps and missiles not... and balance around that

@@felixmustermann790 no, I mean that projectiles should have different flying speed and therefore landing at different times. Foe example, the lasers should be the quickest, then the kinetic weapons, then the missiles, finally the strikecrafts.

@@anidiot4243 On a cosmic scale, light is really slow. If the ships are firing at each other from interplanetary ranges, even a laser is going to have some noticeable travel time. The only weapon in the game that 'realistically' should be hitscan is the Tachyon Lance, since by definition it's a FTL beam weapon.
"We're going to rework combat and fix some stuff." Oh so neutron launchers are going to act a bit more like torpedoes and missiles right? "..." Right?
Neutron Torpedoes used to be for G Slots too. Interesting that they brought it back. Sounds like Stellaris combat has become less Linear again. Nice!
Paradox: We will nerf neutron launchers. We will also buff point defense as they can now shoot down torpedos. Players: So you will make torpedos have actual travel time right? Right? Paradox: In the next DLC and patch prepare to see....

Lathland has proven that frigates are ridiculously overpowered in single player against cruisers and bb's and absolutely shred any fleet depending on them.
More like UNSTOPPABLE Content.

Ironically, frigates and cruisers with Neutron Launchers are SIGNIFICANTLY stronger in practice than those with Devastators. Devastators are next to useless in practice, unless the enemy is mono-fleeting with slow cruisers or battleships. If they have kiting afterburner cruisers and you aren't lane camping, your torpedo ships are completely worthless.
Why all this fuss when I just take the crisis perk and cybernetics, assimilate all my pops, open crisis corvettes and put autocannons on them? 25% armor damage? Ha-ha-ha, Autocannon goes Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrch! Autocannon OP

Easy counter. Kinetic wall of fuck off weaponry, can't do much if your swarming them and bombarding them to hell with railgund and plasma cannons.
I dont play stellaris mp because that is where fun dies.
