So I’m currently dming for a group that are mostly pretty new to Dnd. When I introduce people to Dnd I usually give them the dice craving because I dump my dice bag on the table and people see the copious amounts of dice I own. I had a player in a different game buy like 6 sets of dice in response to a dice craving I think I caused. Anyways one of the players bought this set of transparent dice with small adorable ducks in the middle. I have never felt so much dice envy as I did when I laid my eyes on that dice set. So yeah that’s my dice envy story.

Story 1: Honestly, DM could've let the guy make the armless fighter. Would've taught him a lesson about making one-note joke characters who exist for a single punchline that only their creator finds funny; see how long it takes for it to wear thin, and even give the fighter way more opportunities to make the "joke" happen than he normally should get. Make the dude tired of the gag in a single session and have him abandon the concept or adjust it to make it work with the prosthetics or magical augmentations the DM had suggested initially. Story 2: A dude willingly showing off a hentai folder to people asking for "closure" to a perceived romantic situation is crazy. This guy sees himself as the main protagonist of his anime life, and the idea of this "closure" conversation is, I'm willing to bet, that he is going to say something so amazing that it will change her mind and make her fall in love with him and she'll be his perfect waifu girlfriend forever. It's insane how these stories keep making me realize that types of dudes I thought disappeared a decade ago are still thriving. The very end of that is just further proof of his self-aggrandizing anime protagonist persona; dudes like that love claiming to be crazy because it gives them an edge, makes them weird and mysterious, at least in their minds. It's so stupid, and again, something I thought had vanished from general society after the early 2000's until I started watching RPG Horror Story videos.

A warlock player wanted to be Trapped in a Mask, so we homebrewed a bit onto the (at the tkme UA) Reborn ti have rules about getting a new host of his previous dies (it DID come up because a giant crit killed him), but he can still be killed of the mask is broken (has like an AC of 15 or 17, maybe 20, with 10hp). I feel like it's the latter, since it sounds like no one bothered to make sure everyone was on the same page. The Center of Attention: On the topic of characters being useful, I think the barbarian who wouldn't let the kobold go might count since while he could have been useful in combat, he was more interested in said kobold than fighting the enemies. Just felt like pointing out how even "useful" characters can be made useless by their own player. Nice Guy DM Outs Himself: Concerning that people refuses to take "no" for an answer. I guess they are taught the wrong message with persistence pays off. Hope OP is doing well after that encounter (and good on her to realize that she didn't trust the guy enough to be along with him in his room). Ending Your Game For tRuE lOve: And that one-up the previous story. Again, people need to learn to take "no" for an answer. Sadly, most people have trouble seeing when they are being manipulated (it wouldn't be effective if it was easy to notice), and this stuff happens. Glad OP was able to help everyone see it, even if he did get beat up in the process.

Ok I can say easily, JOKE characters can be useful. We have a Luma (think pigon) that has two different personalities, one a luchador, both are worshipers of the one true pudding, both are mildly insane (The non luchador side dances when he sees a mirror because he thinks its another bird and is greeting it) yet in a fight he's GOOD. He can punch he's our main melee fighter and is the comic relief of our story!

The "fighter with no arms" thing: I had an idea for an OC like that a long time ago. Instead of having no arms, he instead has his arms stuck in a straight-jacket (because he's insane). He still fights with swords, but he holds them with his feet (using them kinda like stilts). I think you could change it to a greatsword using it like a pogo-stick instead.

NEET is a term originating from Japan, it's an acronym for "Not in Employment, Education or Training." It is essentially someone who doesn't have a job and isn't going for an education and ONLY plays games. It's generally used for people who play video games, but I suppose it could be used for board games and TTRPGs too.

My friends and I took a break from playing while we went off to higher universities and such. After a few years we all wound up back near our original city. I convinced our old dm to start up again, his condition was that all our characters had to be able to contribute during combat. We usually get together and discuss our characters before hand to ensure that we have a good cohesive party.

99% of the time anyone frequently joking about suicide is just seeking attention, don't feed into it. I just say "well, good luck with that", and then move on. Usually they flip out and start screaming at me, thus proving they just wanted attention. My therapist told me the same thing about savior complexes though. I used to bend over backwards like OP did to "help" people. She does not approve fully of how I handle it now, but she does say atleast it's good I'm not stressing myself over others. Baby steps.

I like the idea of a fighter with no arms. I’m not knowledgeable at all about D&D but if I was I’d like to make this concept it would be that he’s just really skilled at fighting with legs. Where he’s a skilled martial artist who lost his arms in an accident and learned how to fight with his legs. Then overtime he could find or acquire prosthetic arms or magic and relearn how to fight with arms. I think it’s sounds cool at least.

My suggestion I would look at some DM advise videos here on KZread. Also talk with your players and get their feedback on how things. You can make it a thing where at the end of the session you all talk about what you liked or dislike and where you all can improve. Also don't forget to have fun, you and your players should be able to have fun in the game.

Pacifist Bard: Oh, I don't fight in battles. I am a journalist and I write up reports and news articles about what happened. I'm strictly non-combatant. OK, but can you heal the party afterwards? Can you buff them beforehand? Can you help with persuasion and performance, when we are actively trying to avoid combat? If the answer to those questions is "Yes," then you are a valuable member of the party, even though you don't fight. If the answer to those questions is "No, I'm just here to observe and write about it," then you are a drag on the party (because we'd have to fight to protect you, if it came to that, and drag you around with us), and a burden, and you might as well just be a talking quest token, and THOSE are played by the DM, thanks. DMs can create DMPCs who are nothing but talking quest tokens, to be carried from place to place, for plot reasons. "Oh! The king wants you to escort his princess daughter to X, so that she can get married to the prince there. Whoopsie! That prince was kidnapped, so now you have to take the princess to go on the rescue mission, so they can get married, the moment he is rescued. Whoops. He was killed just before you arrived. So now you have to escort the princess to Date #2, so she can marry him, because politics and marriages of alliances and all that, and she has no choice in the matter, and doesn't really care, anyway, because she is aromantic, but loves sex, so she'll happily marry whoever, and have his children, so long as he doesn't expect her to love him, and she doesn't even care if he has mistresses, so long as he is good in bed, when it's time to "do the royal duty," and doesn't embarrass her at court. So, she's happy to help her country and will marry whoever Daddy chooses, so you, as good subjects of your king, must bring her to her chosen spouse, wherever that may be, and on and on the adventures go, until you are level 20, and the sex-starved, but romantically unfeeling, princess FINALLY gets to marry Prince #17, and form a political alliance with the piddly little country that barely has an army, but has the last royal male standing in need of a bride. Which is bad news for all the OTHER royal princesses on the continent, who are now reduced to marrying dukes. Poor souls. But, yeah, if a PLAYER wants to create such a useless character, then they had BETTER at least be HELLA entertaining.
