I feel like this video is going to change my life! Finally a neck STRENGTHENING video that is all about building needed supportive muscles instead of always just stretching and easing pain...many people do not realize, if they strengthen the sources of their pain, they won't need to constantly be stretching or easing them.

Both are good but Ashley has a point. More strengthening will lead to less need for easing the muscles
There is an old Chinese proverb that goes "No disease, short life... One disease, long life." I think it's safe to say, most people watched this due to some type of discomfort, sooo Thank you for contributing to our longevity. ❤

Thanks a million for this video! I'm extremely hypermobile and couldn't find any exercise to make things work or even make things work. But after 5 days doing those I can feel my neck much stronger ! My tinitus is slightly quieter and I sleep better! Thank you!

It can be so hard when you are a person with hyper mobile joints. I can relate. 👌🏼
This! For my body type, strength is everything! Surfing really wears out your neck, this relieves and builds strength for resilience.
I'm liking this vid a like....as hardly no fitness channel in KZread explains the importance of safely training the neck muscles..
Thanks mississipi!
This is great. I already do some of these exercises, and it's a great reminder to keep up with it.
The only thing I would add for when you're lying down on your back doing the exercises, is that you should have a folded up towel under your head IF you have a rounded upper back, or hyperkyphosis, which a lot of people have. If you have hyperkyphosis, or hunchback, your head will naturally tilt back on the floor with your chin pointing more up toward the ceiling...you want to avoid this for proper form. Most people who have head forward carriage, they also have hunchback posture...so you have to adjust behind your head to make sure your head doesn't tilt back while you're lying down. Hope that made sense..lol

Thank you 🙏 By watching this video and testing it out I just realised I have a neck stabiliser that’s stronger than the other and is probably helping create added pain to my previous sore neck muscles. And also I didn’t think to twist my head to put tension on the same muscle from a different angle . Legend thank you .
Thanks a lot for this video… Has been suffering a left neck pain for the past 1 year and no therapy seems to work… Did this 3 times for a week, seems it reduces the pain A LOT!
I get chronic tension headaches and my job involves a lot of looking down. Going to try this to see if it helps!

I'm going to try these, I like them. Doing some other exercises recommended on physiotherapy, but looking for different for diversion or better results. A question, though. Should we stretch before or after strengthening exercises? It always confused me. Also, with deformities in neck vertebraes which are causing the whole back to ache, after what point of continuous exercising the pain subsides? I've been exercising for a month now and I feel inflamed every day. I see the progress in my body, but the pain stays the same. 😢 I'm even considering the corticosteroid shot because this is awful, I'm constantly aware of my neck and my back being in dull, stiff and inflamed pain whatever I do. It's pretty disheartening.

Would this help prevent Schumers Neck resulting from endurance bike riding. I’m attempting a 1200km in August and have been looking at exercises to prevent this. I’ve been doing core exercises but nothing specific for the neck. I know younger /fitter people than me and they suffered from it. Good video.

Isn't isotonic exercise useless and shortening as we think about sthrenghtening and prolongating the muscle? Thank you
@kinetichealthonline
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ginny177: Many exercises have both a concentric and eccentric components. "In a concentric contraction, the muscle tension rises to meet the resistance then remains stable as the muscle shortens. During eccentric contraction, the muscle lengthens as the resistance becomes greater than the force the muscle is producing." An Isotonic exercise is when a contracting muscle shortens against a constant load, in this case the weight is your head as you bring it up. The eccentric component is when you bring the head down. So no a isotonic exercise is not useless, especially when combined with a isometric component. Cheers!
