I’m a nurse and I often hear patients complaining about how expensive Wegovy and Ozempic are. In addition to being expensive sometimes they’re hard to obtain and there are potential bad side effects as well. Using healthy foods as your medicine seems like a much better alternative. 🍏🥒💚

I have heard that the bioavailability of chia seeds is greatly enhanced by grinding them first. This meal is not low calorie to me - it has about 500 calories in it, but it does have 12 gm protein, 19 gm fat and 20 gm of fiber. I cannot eat a 500 calorie cold meal in the morning or at any other time. Plus I need oat bran for cholesterol control too. I might switch from flax seed to chia seeds in my morning oats or add it to my regular smoothie instead though and see if it helps with weight loss. My largest meal is usually lunch these days but none of my meals reach 500 calories. With IBS and microscopic colitis I can’t eat that much at one sitting.

It's the latest shiny object in medicine, Victoria. I can understand it being prescribed for people with diabetes if they are struggling with their blood sugars, but for weight loss? I just think it's an overkill for weight management. Even for diabetes, it's my plan this summer to show people that if you can take your lifestyle modification seriously, you may just be able to come off your diabetic medications. I'm going to do a series of videos over 2 months, showing people how to manage their diabetes with lifestyle changes

Anyway, I was told I should consider Wegovy but I want to get off all meds not add more unless it is natural medicine and/or vitamins…SO…that said, I wonder if this method of yours should still be ok for me being that 80% of my stomach is gone and I don’t want to overstretch my sleeve either. What do you suggest? Or should I be ok. Your method sounds so nutritious and healing and so I really want to partake and hope it would get me over my stall instead of resorting to that shot.

With a small stomach capacity after a gastric sleeve procedure you certainly won't be able to accommodate all of that smoothie in one go. My suggestion is to spread the consumption over an entire morning and afternoon consuming small amounts at a time taking into consideration how full you feel each time

@@drjoetvMD thank you! That was my thinking to eat bariatric sized version and so this am I had lemon water first with my vitamins required after surgery then maybe an hour later I had some chia and oat milk I had prepared last night after watching your videos. My mixture was just 2/3 cup unsweetened oat milk with about 2 tbsp of chia seeds left in a mason jar over night. I actually really enjoyed the taste and texture but adding 1/2 a scoop of a vanilla collagen/multivitamin powder made it really really good. I felt no need to eat much else except 2 ounces of scrambled egg. I will be repeating use of that chia concoction on a regular. So easy and tasty! It is afternoon now and I don’t feel famished like I have been over the last 3 months. I don’t feel like I need to snack which I think was my NPs reasoning in suggesting Wegovy for me…I had been very frustrated over this unsatisfied feeling I had been having the at least for 2 months now. I genuinely think this will help along with other tips I’m picking up from your content. Appreciate you 😊🙌🏾

I’m embarrassed to say I took Ozempic to lose 10 pounds on the suggestion of my naturopathic doctor. I track my health with an Oura ring. A few days after my first weeks injection, my resting heart rate increased from 43 to 49 beats per minute and my Heart Rate Variability, a marker of good health, became almost unmeasurable. I continued taking Ozempic for 3 more weeks to see if things improved but nothing changed. I have not lost a pound but I do feel tired all the time. Needless to say, I’m not renewing my scrip for another month at the higher dose. I’m praying my heart rate and HRV revert back to what they were before I so cavalierly took my naturopaths suggestion

One has to be careful in your case as your stomach capacity is compromised by your surgery. This should help you. I suggest you have small amounts over 4 - 6 hours. Yes, you can refrigerate it or even freeze it. I've never frozen it myself but I think it should do alright freezing it. You certainly can refrigerate it outside of the freezer. Great video, I see where you're going with it. My issue though, you mention to have this as an appetizer....this is 380 calories using the oat milk (I would use the 30 calorie almond milk). I eat about 400 calories per meal when trying to lose weight. So, this would actually be my meal. Is it a good meal replacement? Would I be hungry in 2 hours? And is that a special blender or just a normal blender? Thanks!! I love chia pudding, but I usually make it with yogurt or in my overnight oats. One more question, does it keep? So I could eat half before breakfast, and half before dinner? Or would it get funky just sitting in the fridge for hours? Thank you!!!

I stumbled upon the wonders of Chia seeds because I'm am... or was a rice pudding addict, but I was trying to shift my eating habits to healthier alternatives so I could get back in shape. I started making a rice pudding substitute with Chia Seeds, oat or soy milk, cinnamon and vanilla, and a teaspoon of sugar. It tastes great I don't even miss the pudding lol. Took the recipe straight from first page of google, and have been eating one serving every morning with breakfast. I definitely notice I don't get hungry throughout the day at work and am able to subsist on water or a plain coffee until I get home. This is great because work was my primary pitfall as there's a lot of unhealthy food options in and around it, and I found myself eating something really high calorie for lunch nearly every day. Now, I have my eggs and chia pudding in the am, then come home and eat something healthy that I have prepared at home. Weight loss is slow because I am also taking protein and hitting the weights in the gym, but I've definitely gone down a pant size since I started having only lost 5 lbs :)

To reduce cholesterol and also lose weight can one drink the chia seed mixture before or after the main meal ( I know the smoothie bowl should come before a meal but can it also help reduce cholesterol if taken before a meal??) Or should a chia seed intervention be taken both before ( to fill the stomach a bit ) and after a meal to help clean up the fats and cholesterol in the gut? I don’t know if I made sense ….

In my opinion, no. It's dry food and in my books I consume dry foods that are past their 'Best Before' dates without any untoward effects
