    Geez, just seeing you adding the decals on the front and side of the car makes me terrified of trying to do a NASCAR model. Although you made it looks great!! Not sure how confident i would be at trying it. GREAT job all around on the car and the wheels!!!!

    They can be! Sometimes it is hard to believe they will conform. But eventually they soften up enough.

    It’s coming together nicely, Clay! Studying how to put decals on cause mine turn out just a little less clean but that’s probably due to using cold water haha. Can’t wait to see the finished car!

    I start with warm water in my bowl. But it usually doesn't stay warm for long.

    I used to used liquid mask all the time for my rc car bodies. I tried it once on my Revel Taurus after I had painted the inside with Krylon Gull Gray and the liquid mask pulled it all off.

    Mr. Clay, im trying to build a Gordon car and I've had a lot of troubles with the decals. I had to order a second set because I botched the first one so badly. How many coats of micro set do you use before you switch to micro sol? Thanks!

    I mostly use the blue bottle. But if a decal is really being stubborn, or I get impatient I will use the red bottle and some heat from my desk lamp to get it to soften up.

    This was the first time I had tried to to be honest. I had tried their other one and didn't care for it. But this one worked really well for masking the body off.

    It is a big AC filter. I cut it down to size so I can get four squares out of one filter. I get it at Walmart here. Like $5 maybe?

    Really looking good Clay. How do you determine where the stripe goes on the tire? Is it specific or is it random?

    It is a little of both. Ideally the stripe should go out from a lug nut, across a solid spoke of the rim. It helps the changer line it up on pit stops. I just eyeball what part of the wheel looks like it will line up with a lug nut and put it there.

    I spray it right into a paper cup a little at a time and pour it into the jar. takes five or six times to get get enough to spray.

    Thanks for the info... I do it somewhat similar. I set my jar in my spray booth and spray through a 1"copper pipe into the jar. It controls over spray and fumes/solids get sucked outside. Works great 👍

    I just buy packs of cheap fine point brushes at Hobby Lobby or other craft stores. When they start to fray, I just toss them and grab a new one.

If it's wheel weights bud, we race weekly been around the block my entire life racing wheels dont have wheel weights my friend. Not bashing your work just wandering what are you putting on there.

I've just worked on short track Sat nights from Late models now to Modifieds on Sat. nights at our local tracks. I watched Trucks, Busch and Cup series on TV until this mess they have done in the past ten years i'd say.

    @@rextonk.7439 Wheel weights on a race car is unheard of. We have to buy tires at the track weekly, 6 to be exact. After i got out of the late model world, i started working for a Modified weekly and to be honest me another guy and our driver do tires at the Hoosier Tire Truck. No such thing is wheel weights. Racing wheels come from the factory already machined balanced. They only mount tires is all.

    Hi Shawn....maybe not on the local level, but Cup, Xfinity and Trucks absolutely run wheel weights. I've got tons of reference photos showing them and the markings. The new BBS Next gen wheels even have weights, but they are stick on, on the inside of the backside of the wheel.

    @@ClayKemp We use to run Bassett wheels when we had late models. Now i work on a Tour Type Modified. Matter of fact it will be the 2nd model kit out. We run Aero wide 5's now. In all of the photos i have ive never paid much attention for wheel weights on cup cars. Not bashing at all my friend just a conversation is all

    I painted the inside of the body chassis gray first, then used the liquid mask and tape to prevent any of the yellow getting on the inside of the body.
