    Why are you adding sheet styrene to the dash, im following you on this build but im doing the asphalt car

    @@shawnevans58 I didn't care for the look of the kit joint where the dash and firewall meet. It will be seen through the front window after you are finished. So I wanted to cover that line, and make something that looked more like a factory dash.

    @@ClayKemp Awesome, what size sheet did you use to do that with? You done a absolute perfect job and now i know how to mud up these truck and tractor pulling tires as well. I forgot the Sprint cars i build as well.

    Good luck. Like I mentioned, I would normally use like 70% alcohol. The 91% I was using was starting to mess with the base coat paint. It was too strong.

    On the first one I built, you could really see that odd joint between the dash and the firewall once the model was finished. It just looked like it needed some indication of a dash top there.

    Not really a good way to get his stuff until he gets back to selling unfortunately. Hopefully he gets back on his feet again soon. You might try Ted's Model Marketplace. He sells a lot of things like that.

    Weathering is something I am getting into. I’m curious, with the alcohol, is it the goal to take paint off?

  • @ClayKemp

    @ClayKemp

    2 жыл бұрын

    No, it just dilutes the pigment powder and allows it to spread around. Then one it evaporates, the pigment is left behind.

    I'm no pro like you.. but here's a pro tip.. get one of those foot scrubbers from the dollar store, the ones for your heel and use that or straighten out a large hose clamp and run your pastels along it to make quick work of powders. I get my box and just spend about 30 mins grinding half of them up and putting in small containers for future use. Ive used pastels for a long time and still learned something today. Glad I found this channel!! Chassis looks great!

    Not to throw anybody Under the bus, but I bought the MPC Pontiac Super Stock Dirt car model. Whoever designed the chassis must not of known much about stockcars. I raced for years and years and built many roll cages.this model was poorly designed and the fit and Finish was lame. We work hard for our money....$ 25.00 for this kit is ridiculous. I won't ever buy another MPC model.
