Not only are you one of the most talented builders I've ever witnessed you are a master at video for KZread. Often those 2 don't go hand in hand!

Thank you very much! I am learning a lot, that is for sure. Hopefully each video gets a little bit better than the last. Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial. Tamiya's new 1, 2 and 3mm tapes will be great to skip the cutting steps.
Great demonstration, I was wondering how to do this. Thank you so much, your magazine articles have been an inspiration for me for years.

Great work, Clay! I use an erasure shield for cutting the strips so my sketchy eyesight doesn’t miss the widths! Can’t seem to find the one I use online, it’s probably 30 years old and drafting by hand is so 1985! 😂
It took me three times of messing up and getting tangled up but finally got patient and built this netting. Its an awesome technique. Thanks for showing this technique. Amazing.
sei il migliore. grazie che fai i video. sei un riferimento!
Thanks Clay for all of your videos, guy i done the Revell Harvick Ford every which was you could do the hardest.
Fantastic Looking vehicles also.😎

That's Cool Clay Great Job Sir
Definitely going to try this on my next build. I have an old Detail Master Window Net Kit from the 90's that has a PE Template and some super thin tissue paper. Going to try using the template with tape instead.
This is an awesome tutorial...Thank you so much for sharing!

My pleasure 😊
seeing you cut out the drivers side made me have flashbacks of 25 Dale Earnhardt #3 Goodwrench stock cars I built and literally gave away.. to build my credit up.. that never panned out. Cool to see someone still building things.. the old way. Can tell you've done this a FEW times.. lol
Thanks for this Clay. I’ll be using this a lot
Very nice work.

Thanks buddy!
Just ran across your channel and sub'd to it I'm really amazed what small amount of glue that you use thanks for sharing!!
I think a better and realistic and textured net can be made with the adhesive tape that covers some LCD screen cables, even have adhesive and looks like real cloth...
Good video man
The main thing I learned from this, I use way to mush glue 🤣
Nice 👍🏿
Wow that looks awesome 👍

Great build. But I have to admit that I gasped when you glued it open, to the side of the car.
Hi Clay, James Morris sent me over. Excellent video, subbed your channel. KUTGW buddy.
So happy to see you doing how to videos! Your work is AMAZING. I’m still in awe of that Clint Bowyer car I saw at NNL East! One question, are those photo etched pieces from a generic seatbelt set? Or is that a special nascar window set? Thanks! Look forward to the next video.

Correct....it was just some hardware I had in my spares bin that looked close to the buckles they use. I believe it was made by Modelers in Japan.
Very nice ❤️

Thank you for sharing these techniques with us. How wide did you cut the strips for the net?
@ClayKemp

Thanks....I just tried to cut them the same as the kit net.
Thank you Sir I appreciate this. I sub to you. Have a good one sir
What PE sets are you using?
Einfach nur genial 👍👍👍👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤤🤤🤤
Where can I purchase the metal for the rods and buckles you use in this video?
It looks like you pulled the window bar from a spare parts photoetch sheet. The seat belt buckles I have, but any idea where to source that bar at?
@ClayKemp

Any thin strip of scrap PE will work. Usually the borders of the etch sheet will have a nice straight strip you can cut to size.
Clay, I noticed you used a PE sprue for the metal bar. What product did you use?
@ClayKemp
Жыл бұрын
It was just a scrap piece I had. I think it was a PE window brace from the Model Car Garage No Bull set.
I would not have glued it went through all of that work to make it realistic should have had it where it was functioning with some magnets then have it up or down but good idea.
Any idea what the shelf life is on one of these. How long does it stay intact.
@ClayKemp

Once you paint both sides, and glue it in place. It pretty well stays together. I have yet to have one start to come apart.
Beautiful work😍 What kit is that you are building?

Great job...I am in process of building the 81 Thunderbird from the movie Six Pak with Kenny Rogers... have you ever built a window net with string like the ones you would see on cars in early 80’s?
@ClayKemp

I haven't tried making one of those....it is tough to find a material that thin to stay in scale. Most look too thick.

I’m thinking I make have to use brass wire in some kind of jig...maybe like an .020 brass wire.
