NARROWBOAT | One HELL OF A STORM!! in our LIVE ABOARD LIFESTYLE | Episode 71

Hi Guys
Welcome to our latest episode in our WATERWAYS ADVENTURES in our TINY FLOATING HOME.
In this episode we cruise onto a new canal but to get there we need to take our little NARROWBOAT through a long dark tunnel, the famous HARECASTLE TUNNEL at the junction of the TRENT & MERSEY and MACCLESFIELD canal. The temperature rises as we start our CRUISE up the MACCLESFIELD CANAL in our LIVE ABOARD LIFESTYLE adventure. Just when we think it’s safe the heavens open and Jac gets STRANDED whilst out walking. Will she make it back to the boat and away from the horrors of a massive THUNDERSTORM?
We hope you enjoy a look at our ADVENTURING LIFESTYLE xx

I love ducks! So sweet, and innocent...most times! I have had Mallard babies , which knew no ducky mother, and instinct worked well with them. One day, when just fuzzy babies, they stopped quacking. I looked and every one was holding perfectly still and looking up at the sky......and way up there, was a hawk! No duck taught them that! ....

There is also a harecastle train tunnel this is a mile long and is 18ft higher than the Brindley tunnel…it was closed due to complications electrifying it so another track was built around it….in the deserted tunnel are water grids that drain water off into the brindley tunnel..and large vent holes that rise up into harecastle hill.❤

Hi Jackie & Michael. Great video as usual, liked the mother duck and her brood. I read somewhere that various animals can count, an example was how does a mother duck know if all her ducklings are there. One theory was that they can count. This one had quite a brood to take care of and keep in line. Nasty storm. We have had Storm Babete. Nothing here in South Wales, but terrible flooding in the north and Scotland. Hope you miss it.

Hi Phil, so lovely to hear from you and it's wonderful to know you have been with us from the start of our adventures. Ah ah our music is from Epidemic Sounds, not sure you can find them all on Spotify. We always detail song title etc in the description of the video. We both love our signature tune its Weather Any Storm by Cody Francis, hope that helps?? Keep watching, more fun next week with the Bosley flight of locks.... in the heat!! Take care x

Unfortunately, we had a lot of damage done to our boat in the Harecastle Tunnel. Never again. I loved the Macc and the Upper Peak Forest Canals, so absolutely beautiful. Have you not done Bugsworth Basin and Whaley Bridge? Only about 5/6 miles when you reach the end of the Macc and turn right. We spent 9 weeks up there. Also, on a sad note, the last journey with my Husband before he died, at least it was one to remember. ❤️

Ouch we feel for you with the Harecastle tunnel, if you listened closely you could hear us catching the bow of the boat a little when we went it this time. We hate tunnels, as you know, it's just a fear of damaging the boat.... We hope you are ok after your experience???? Watch next week as we tackle the Bosley flight, loads of fun and games to come.... argh! Gosh we are so so sorry Wendy for your loss, we hope you have many happy memories and we'll try and show some wonderful scenery over the next few weeks, hope it continues to bring back many happy visions of your time on the Maccy. Love xxx

@@cruisingontheborder My old mess was the 3M1 TAS mess and we had a good crowd in there. It would be great to see some of those old faces again. I remember the young lads I joined the ship with, lads like JP Oates, Dave 'G' (I think it stood for Gavronik), Barry Keats, Cookie (ex St Vincent), Pete Runciman (the combine harvester) and Blood. The older blokes who turned me into a sailor were blokes like Pete Cook, Dave Silliker, Ken Harrow, Bill Cartmel, Pete Fairweather, Knocker White, and Mick Papper. I think Mick was a bit of a villain, but he spun a good dit and made me listen. I am informed that the navy isn't a shadow of its former self and there were more 'classes' of fighting ships 30 years ago than we have in the entire RN today. I am also informed that there is no such thing as mess deck camaraderie anymore, because modern ships don't have mess decks, what a loss. I am so pleased that I joined the RN in days gone by, rather than now.

You're in the Part of the world I grew up in so will watch with interest your progress on the Macclesfield canal. I was born in Ashton under lyne 80 years ago. I now live in Tasmania on the other side of the world. My Sister in law and nieces still live in Poynton. On my last visit in 2014 I enjoyed coffee at the chandlers in Higher Poynton with my sister in law while staying at a near by B & B. I was employed at a mill near Mosseley below Buckton Castle ( sadly now demolished). which you pass through heading for the Stanage tunnel at Dinting. Love your videos and your passion for coffee.

You are such a lovely couple & your videos are so interesting to watch. As a retired, disabled person, who spent his former years on canals (fishing & walking), your videos bring me a lot of pleasure & entertainment. I noticed when you showed the new Nicholson’s guide, the picture on the front is of Lymm, Cheshire, (where I now live). The house pictured was originally owned by Harry H Corbett (of Sooty & Sweep fame). After his death, his son, Mathew then lived in it. He has just, this year, sold the famous local landmark. Thanks, & keep your great, informative videos coming. ✋🏻💙🤚🏻🛥️(sorry, no narrow boat emoji available😉)
