I’m having a tough time of late Heidi and your excitement of the night time storm made me smile. I live on a 120 yr old Dutch Barge on the river Hamble. At times during spring tides, we’ve had waves hitting the boat and crashing over the roof. We’re perfectly safe but I understand the nervous excitement, especially at night. We’re all like little kids really aren’t we! XX Thanks for making me smile. XX

If your into the canal scene keep an eye out for the pirate queen , Heidi's her name and she’s a good laugh she could be in the pub or on the towpath , she likes her ditties but then dont we all , doesn’t matter if they are big or small , there must be a rhyme to go with ditti but I cant think of one , what a pity 😏 . Most of the time, when we did it, it was mainly, "What is round the next corner?" and it all looks different when going back. Nothing worse than too much wind in your back end. We always said, the reward comes after the works done. That way we all kept safe on and around the water. Been there, done that. Seeing as its so quiet, you might as well get your saw ou and disturb the peace. Nice shot of the dandelions, early bees rely on newly flowered weeds to get a nectar boost in the near spring.

Pirate boats are made for the high seas of Shropshire. 'Never seen waves like um' 👍

This episode reminds me of a narrow boat trip I took with my 80+ year old mom on the Avon canal this January. We had quite a storm and a tree fell across the canal in front of us. After a lot of effort clearing, we managed to squeeze by on the 3rd try. Stay safe! Cheers from Alaska

Another great vlog. Mum has a Sea Searcher magnet that has enough 'grab' to haul in the RMS Titanic! The biggest problem with it is using it near to pilings or steel hulled boats! However, another useful tool is a proper Maglite that is waterproof (we got Mum a 6 battery version. She asked for the large Maglite, but didn't know they were THAT large!). My brothers' phone fell in the Kennet, but we found it using the torch. Fortunately Jays' phone was really waterproof.

Hi Heidi darlin, so you had a "Hoolie " we did too. Last weekend was glorious quite warm and lovely sunshine and real spring weather then on Nonday we had torrential rain and very strong winds ah right "Hoolie" since then we've had rain showers and drizzle ever since with very chilly temperatures as well. J and I've been doing medical sort of thing all week saw 2 doctors and today we got our Spring Covid shot that's number 7 for us. .That was a nice boat ,I liked the colours and that big deck was made for a party. You and Nikki are a real team on the locks I'm sure it makes it easier on you both. Good to see you getting ready for the trading season that's always . Your fabulous vlog is awesome! You make me want to belong to the canal people living the pirates life. I live as a cowgirl with horses desert ranches and apache' braves to keep us company! The storms come now and again but sadly no Rum to keep us afloat. Instead we drink lots of water, milk and plenty of choc chip cookies. Hay for the horses and cake for the goat. Nice spooky episode. Took me back to The Exorcist at the cinema and the part where the girl climbed the ladder to open the ceiling hatch. The packed cinema was dead silent with suspense. The next shot was from inside the attic as the hatch was opened but some wag at the back who knew this was going to happen let out a shout and the whole cinema erupted in screams followed by laughter. Watching Jaws I nearly fell off the sofa when the head appeared at the porthole. I screamed and scared the living daylights out of the dog!! Wooohooo!!

The locks must be a lot of work and time consuming, but the scenery along the canals is so beautiful, so wonderful. Thanks for the reminder of the horses that used to pull the canal boats. Ha! yes, as much as being warm and tidy is wonderful on a boat, yet hearing that wind can be scary. I sat out a thunder and lightening storm on my power boat with two friends aboard years ago. We were safely moored among lots of sailboats with tall masts, so it was safe, but still is was scary ... and yet, and yet, we watched the lightening travel all around us in the sky, it was amazing! The sound of the world is wonderful. 🙂 And the calm of the next morning is even more wonderful.

I went on the land train today in Newquay Cornwall, with 20 drunk OAP's ,the rain came down and it was a bit like your water lapping up the side of the boat, but we don't care do we ? full of rum fun and a rotten headache's .Oooo Errrrr 🍻🍹🍸🍷😂 🇬🇧

I don't mind storms if they aren't too fierce. Not a high wind fan but listening to rain when tucked up and cosy is quite calming. Lol 5.15am here and I think it must be a full moon as been awake since 3 - sigh. Take care and hope you can start trading in higher foot traffic areas soon. =-)

Nicky, when closing the gate, as you leave the lock, put boat into reverse, by the time she’s stopped, steadied and started to come back to you, gates are closed !!! Try it (of course always have a line ashore astern 😄)

I’m Heidi 😂😂 I’ve tried that lots and it doesn’t work for my boat as it takes so long to go from forwards to reverse with my old fashioned controls it’s impossible … I’m just as quick as a duo the way I do it though … soon catch them up … if you have a video of it being done I would love to see it though to see how it’s done 😄🏴‍☠️
