This banjo is a Yates archtop built for Najjaa. He named it Russie Mae. Donnie Little and Ron Stewart playing it for him. Donnie also shows how to play without D-tuners.

That is an amazing instrument in my opinion the Yates banjos are the best w the pre war sound the other guys do good work but this is the best hands down.

My early 1920's Will Van Allen sounds nothing like that. Beautiful tone. Someone's going to be a very happy picker.

That archtop sounds NOTHING like an archtop. I love the dry sound of that thing! How did you get it to sound so much like a flathead? As an archtop owner that didn't know the difference when I bought mine, I'm very interested !

My guess is because its a no hole ring which are warmer and deeper and you have more tones available to modify according to set up

Ancient prewar secrete. (;0) The idea is to sound like a different kind of flathead. Rather than wide and deep, it sounds like the actual width but twice as deep to the back.

What's the name of the song that starts at 1:16? Sounds like "Wandering Boy", but not entirely sure. Great picking, by the way :)
