It's tuned down a whole step from Open G (it's Open F) because it'll allow the head to vibrate more freely.

It reminds me of the Turkish Cumbus. The Drum Head gives it a nice reverb.

WOW!!!!!!! If they ever remake a 'southern' bayou film like Gator, you need to play that instrument in it for the Louisiana swamp sound!

Gold Tone used to make a 10-string banjo. Don't know if they're still offering it in the their current lineup. I'm sure you could probably find a good used one because they were never that popular. Go to the Banjo Hangout and put out some feelers, you just might get lucky!

Yes but the strings are Doubled like a Mandolin & it's a Double octave Tuning

Actually this one has a really nice lush sound.
Not as good as a five stringer
