The Dream Journey - Discovering musicians across Pakistan (A Non Profit Project)
This project will be the sharing of a special experience in which we hope you will want to participate.
Some of the musicians are established and famous, others are among the brilliant budding talent that adorns Pakistan’s musical scene. Each of the mehfils has a distinct atmosphere and mood, but there is a common thread. We asked each of the musicians to stay close to their respective inherited musical traditions, allowing the singers an opportunity to present some pieces that are rarely heard today.
We are inspired to present the brilliance of this contemporary Pakistani vocal music to a wider audience and seek your financial assistance in making this possible.

Jiye sindh, from another sindhi across border
Sant Kabirs dohas' and Shafi Faqeer Sahabs rendition with explanations on the deep meaning behind the simple verses. The lines to die before death is profound. Thank you team Dream Journey. The images of the village folks, the field setting and towards the end a shawl for each of the guests....filled the heart.

Waah, Lajawaab!! Kabir's words and Shafi Faqeer Sahab's voice come together so well here. Of course, I must confess my love for Kabirji's thoughts and words. Musab Bin Noor does do justice to the words, as he always does. A nice little touch is at the end when we see the fellowship between the Musicians and the Dream Journey team. Unfortunately, Maheraji did not appear, but she was essaying the most important role.....that of recording this for posterity! Shukriya to all of you.

The starting lines which FAQEER g said are so deep in meaning. This is the uniqueness I find in Dream Journey videos that before starting the actual poetry, the qawwal says something that is complete in itself. “Taruvar” doesn’t mean mountain. It means tree. In the same line, there is mention of fruit also. Fruits belong to tree and not mountains.

Unchaa taruvar means a high state of consciousness free from all thoughts and emotions, even free from the sense self, in that state fruit of ecstasy is eaten.

Literally Taruvar means Tree. Uncha Taruvar means tall tree.

Could you elaborate on the cap that the singer is wearing. Fareed Ayaz sahab wears a similar cap

It is a traditional Sindhi cap and since both live in Sindh, it's part of their everyday attire.

As The Dream Journey mentioned that this is the traditional Sindhi cap both Ustad Farid and Ustad Shafi live in Sindh and therefore enjoy wearing this cap. The key thing to note is that the Sindhi cap has a Mehrab, an arch cut out of the rim. This allows the wearer ease of putting their forehead to the ground when doing their prayers. This hat was brought to Sindh originally from Baluchistan where this hat was normally the base for the traditional large turbans that most men will wear. As this hat was adopted in Sindh the turban was discarded and the arch became pronounced. That is the history and significance of this hat from Sindh.
