One of the reasons that I purchased the Nuobell adjustable dumbbells was because of the comfort while resting on my knees. The Snodes aren't flat while the Nuobells are and more comfortable because of this

As a farmer, I hold right to repair in very high regard. After watching Average Joe Innovations video I decided on the Snode AD80s. Being able to purchase individual repair parts along with a set of 2.5lb PlateMates made the difference for me going with the Snodes. Now just waiting on them to get in!

First day impressions:It arrived in a waist high box. kzread.infoUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 Each dumbbell was in its own foam box within the shipping box. Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.
Great video! I'm JUST starting to research home gym setups. I came in knowing nothing about any of this stuff and left feeling well informed. Thanks for communicating the important info so well!

@@zone453no, it isn't. He is totally correct, but if 80s start feeling easier for you, you should start working on mechanical overloading, like keeping a more obtuse angle at the elbow, causing more weight to be on your pec. Of course, you should keep your shouldering a strong position, and make sure your scapula retractors are always strong.
You are the man Coop! Thanks so much for making these videos. I'm in need of some heavier adjustable dumbbells and have been researching online. Think I've watched around 15 videos already and 80% of them have been reviews by you. I'm hoping Nuobell upgrades their cradle and handles in response to all these head-to-head videos showing their durability is their Achilles heel. I like my Nuobells, but I'm definitely expecting them to fail within the five year extended warranty I got with them. I'm hoping the replacement parts will be stronger, so it's a one-time replacement/upgrade.
that moustache deserves its own Merch. Deserves its own channel. It deserves a lot more recognition than its getting.
I have had the Nuo's for over a year without any real issues. The stand is very nice too. Before that, I has the Soloflex 90's. I've never dropped either of them in a couple of decades of combined use, so I'm ok with durability. It's not like they are over a hundred pounds and you would need to drop them after a set. At this weight, they are more for accessory work than compounds anyway. I've never tried the Snodes, but I'm sure they are good too. Kind of like picking a Ferrari or Lamborghini, they both are great at the job, and a lot depends on individual preferences. Actually glad to hear the Nuobell handles are a bit heavier than claimed--I've been lifting more that I thought :) Love the dumbbell reviews! Ok, back to my back workout....
It would make more sense for the Snodes to take advantage of the longer handle and manufacture a C-shaped magnetic plate (that contoured around the inner ring) that could attach to the inside of the dumbbell so you don’t have those bulky things hanging off the end. Have them in 1.25, 2.5, and 5 lb increments and you would have incremental adjustments and the ability to go up to 90 lbs. If you paired that with another 5 or 10 lb magnetic plate that could attach to the end and you could easily get up to 110 lbs per dumbbell.
I was about to pull the trigger on the Nuobells and then watched your video on the Snodes when it came out. I went with the Sodes for durability. Thats super improtant to me and why I wanted the pepins. My soulution for not having a 5lb weight was to go get a set from fray for $9.

Great Review! I’ve had the nuobells for a couple years and love them. I do wish I could drop them after a heavy bench press set though. Anyways, keep up the good work, Coop!
Nuobell just needs a bit more metal construction and it would be the all time king of adjustable dumbbells. Snode needs 5lbs increments and that alone would probably close the gap to Nuobells and consumers buying choice.
@NathanielDowell
Жыл бұрын
This was the first time I realized that part of the Nuobell durability issues are linked to the low starting weight, and per the video, they're already 1.5 lbs over the stated '5lb'. Add a bit more metal, and they're going to be overshooting 5lbs even more. Personally, I think adding another pound in exchange for significantly more durability is a fine tradeoff. However, they could make their cradle rock solid without sacrificing anything. It's even beneficial for the cradle to have more weight, so it stays in place as you rack and unrack the weights. I'm really hoping to see Nuobell respond to the durability concerns with better replacement parts.

I don't know. I think it makes a lot more sense to do it like this, matching up the dbs that appeal to the same general group. For example, the people who swear by the ironmasters and similar dbs have very different priorities than the people who like these, never mind those who like the bowflex and similar. They prize durability and the ability to go heavy above everything else. Its apples to oranges, IMO.
After watching this video and your Pepin 120 Fast video... I ended up going with the Pepins. Those just seem to be the best in the industry right now. Pricey, but they seemed like that were worth the price. That lifetime warranty is clutch as well.

Got the AD80s for 3 months now and they are incredibly durable. I don't think the 1.1 inches length difference is some kind of problem, just because their handles are longer, which is very suitable for my big hands. The most important thing is, it is a dumbbell but not some fragile things, I really enjoy the knocking sounds between plates when I put them back in the cradle. And I know these are unbreakable!!💪💪

Then why are like 1 in 3 reviews about how the handle or handles stopped being able to be adjusted though there were no drops? Obviously something in there is flimsy. Literally like every 3rd review on google, amazon, etc. is 1 star and basically said for this reason they became useless.
10lb start weight is fine but 10lb increments is a deal breaker for me. More options is more better haha
Going with Snode AD80. I also think the Snode stand is well designed and solid being cast iron. To me, the Nuobell stand seems generic, especially with so many Nuobells-style knockoffs now on the market. I'd suggest reviews include the stands as it was also part of my decision. I have smaller hands so I hope the longer handle of the Snode isn't a negative. In all honesty would've preferred a rubber hex set but space and cost is a factor. Not to mention the amount of total weight a hex set is 5-80lbs pairs. My gym is second floor of a house and total weight is a consideration.
Snode is now showing a 2 year warranty on their site! Just a heads up :)

Placed an order for the new matte black Nuobell dumbbells, they’re using aluminum for the grips making it better for outdoor use and humidity.
The 5lbs increments and quick changeability of the Nuobells is enough to keep me from the wants. My wife uses our home gym so it’s a must to either have adjustable with smaller increments otherwise I would just dedicate the space to a full dumbbell rack . Also I would never trust magnets while pressing over head or face 😂 bad idea

I've also seen reports of the handle breaking after accidentally rolling off a bench. I just ordered the snodes. I'm thinking they can also go on the inside of the dumbell without interfering with your hands. There are also some 3rd party options.
In the UK the Nuobell 2-32kg are £699 with a stand costing £159 from a reputable firm. You can buy a set of rubber coated from Mirafit 5-30kg in 2.5kg increments but missing the 22.5kg pair on a rack which is only around 40% bigger footprint than the nuobell stand for £1000. There is no comparison, you get 10 pairs of dumbells that will last a lifetime and take up little more room for less than 20% more. I know they have to pay for development costs and take up a bit less room etc . But really they are not worth anything like what they are priced at.

I don't know if I can believe anything Coop says after he commented that he only wants 1 set of dumbbells.
Regarding the handle. I like to buy tennis racket grip and tup on it. It will make it grip good. And it is soft. And also will add thickness to the handle.
Between these two, Snode dominates and it isnt even close. If Snode made a 100+ pound adjustable dumbbell with this same build quality, they would easily be the best adjustables on the market. However, for now if you want a heavier set, the Pepins are great if you can bite the bullet on the price.
